Nexus Mods won't ban AI mods outright, but makes AI disclosure mandatory
Nexus Mods has updated its generative AI policy: mods made with AI stay allowed, but their authors must now publicly explain how and where AI was used, VGC reports from a blog post by site owner Foledinho, who writes that "AI-generated mods are welcome on our platform provided that they meet certain criteria regarding permissions, transparency, presentation, and conduct." Existing mod authors have 60 days to comply, moderation is done manually with users asked to report undisclosed AI content, and the site's AI tags can now be used to filter mods off the home page. Some users had called for a full ban, and VGC notes the reaction in the post's comments is divided.

Valve says Steam build reviews now take up to 12 business days and tightens its release checklist
In a Steamworks post on November 3, Valve said it has seen "a significant increase in submissions for store and page review in recent months" and is currently taking up to 12 business days to test game builds instead of its usual 3-5 days, with much of the delay caused by re-reviews. To help games pass the first time, the release checklist now requires developers to run their game through Steam for at least 5 minutes, list any common redistributables such as DirectX or Visual C++, fix incomplete achievement setups, write a save to Steam Cloud if the feature is advertised, and tag at least five screenshots as gameplay. Valve says more improvements to build review are on the way.

Xbox is giving away a one-of-a-kind Series X built inside a five-foot alligator
Xbox has revealed the Xbox Series X-BITE, a working Series X sealed inside a sculpted alligator more than five feet long, with a bite-marked custom controller in its jaws; creature specialists John Nolan Studio built it. To enter, repost Xbox's sweepstakes post on X, Instagram or TikTok with #XbiteSweepstakes from a public account. The sweepstakes runs until 11:59 p.m. PT on November 10, 2026, and is open only to legal residents of the 50 US states and D.C. aged 18 and over.

Report: Ubisoft is among several companies bidding for Arkane Lyon
Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reports that Ubisoft has made an offer to buy Dishonored and Marvel's Blade studio Arkane Lyon from Xbox, citing people familiar with the negotiations, and that at least two other gaming companies have also bid. The report adds that Xbox is considering selling the studio to its own management, as happened with Double Fine and Compulsion Games; no deal has been agreed. A Microsoft spokesperson told Bloomberg it continues to explore options ahead of a December deadline for a decision, per Kotaku.

Indie developers say slow Steam reviews are making them miss launch dates
Indie studios say Steam build reviews are taking weeks, far longer than the 3-5 business days Valve quotes in its Steamworks documentation, and some have missed launch dates as a result, The Verge reports. Studio Daimon was due to launch Food Devils in Early Access today, November 3, but says the build it submitted on October 12 is still awaiting approval, while 2 Left Thumbs' Wheel Make It missed its October 12 date and only came out on November 1. Both developers suspect a flood of AI-generated submissions is clogging the queue; Valve had not replied to The Verge's request for comment.

Ocarina of Time remake's blind auditions picked an original N64 voice actor by chance
In part 4 of Nintendo's Ask the Developer interview, director HokWai Ng says the team ran blind auditions for the remake's newly voiced cutscenes, with the top priority being voices that recreated the sound and feel of the original. Producer Eiji Aonuma says the actors' names were hidden during the Japanese auditions, and one of the voices they chose turned out to be the actor who played the same character in the Nintendo 64 version; Nintendo doesn't say which character. Sound director Masato Ohashi adds that the game has more than 150 pieces of background music and supports 5.1-channel surround sound; it launches on Switch 2 on Thursday, November 5.

Gears of War: E-Day brings back Guardian for the series' 20th anniversary
The Coalition has started Gears of War's 20th anniversary celebration in E-Day with new playlists and rewards, live now: the leader-based Versus mode Guardian returns, and a limited-time Horde Siege mission called For the Queen switches off the supply cache so squads must make do with what they carry. Pure Xbox also spotted anniversary challenges, skins, banners and poses in the in-game store.

Frostpunk 2's third expansion, The Surge, lands December 14 with a Tesla-powered twist
11 bit studios says The Surge, the third expansion for Frostpunk 2, launches on December 14, 2026 on PC and consoles, with a story-driven scenario set in a new valley reached after a long trek through the frozen remains of the USA. The studio teases a new resource under the banner of 'Tesla's Legacy' that pushes city automation further (and splits factions over how to use it), storm-driven tech that turns whiteouts into stored resources, and caves and ruins to explore. A price hasn't been announced yet; the Steam page lists the date with no price.

Australian studio Art of Play Interactive is developing Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure: Arcade for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PC, VGC reports, describing it as mainly a side-scrolling beat 'em up in the style of 16-bit arcade games, playable solo or in two-player co-op. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter voice the duo, and the studio says it uses no generative AI in the game or its marketing. A Backerkit campaign with digital copies and limited physical editions, including SNES-style packaging, is set to launch in early 2027; no release date has been given.

Idea Factory International will publish Compile Heart's Hyperspace Neptunia: Unlimited in the west in 2027 on PS5, PS4, Switch 2, Switch and Steam, with physical editions for PS5, PS4 and Switch 2. The official site, which went live on Nov 3, lists English and Japanese voices and says prices for the standard, limited and digital editions are still TBD. Gematsu notes the RPG launched in Japan on August 27 and is the first mainline Neptunia game since Megadimension Neptunia VII in 2015.

PlayStation's China Hero Project promises $1 million in investment to selected Phase 4 games
At a PlayStation China Hero Project press conference in Shanghai today, selected games from the program's fourth phase were promised US$1 million in investment, Shenzhen-based journalist Daniel Camilo reported on X, adding that the money does not necessarily make them Sony exclusives. Push Square names Exiledge, DaBa: Land of Water Scar and Unending Dawn among the games getting the extra money, with Camilo noting that Unending Dawn got $1 million despite coming from an earlier phase. Camilo says Exiledge is planned for 2027 on PS5 and PC.

Pokémon GO's Explorer Gadget now helps while the app is open, plus a batch of gameplay tweaks
The Explorer Gadget, which auto-catches Pokémon and spins PokéStops while Pokémon GO is closed, now also works while you're actively playing, marking its targets on the map with a pink Poké Ball icon; it still needs Trainer level 20 or higher, and tapping a marked Pokémon or PokéStop lets you take over. The official pokemongo.com post also rounds up recent changes, including a dedicated Appraise button, a clearer catch summary and better contrast between spun and unspun PokéStops. One bigger change: visiting a Power Spot, or placing a Pokémon there after winning a Max Battle, no longer triggers special wild encounters around it, which the team says keeps wild encounters consistent for all players.

Aonuma's 'overdue homework': the Ocarina of Time remake reworks the Water Temple
In part three of Nintendo's Ask the Developer interview on the Switch 2 remake, producer Eiji Aonuma says he had the team adjust the Water Temple he designed 28 years ago, because constant item toggling through the menu made it hard to keep track of where you were and which way you were facing. Director HokWai Ng says item toggling is now much easier, and some walls that made players lose their sense of direction are now lattice-style structures you can see through. The team also swapped auto-jump for jumping anywhere with a single button press, and Gohma now guards its weak point with its arms whenever it can't be hurt; the game launches on Switch 2 on Thursday, November 5.

Zelda Master Sword and Heart Container keychains reach Lawson stores in Japan
Taito is releasing two The Legend of Zelda prize items that arrive first at Lawson convenience stores in Japan in early November 2026, according to its official Taito Prize pages. The Master Sword mascot (about 13cm, three versions) lets you pull the sword out of its fabric pedestal, while the Heart Container figure (about 8cm) shows three hearts that drop when it 'takes damage'. Siliconera notes there's no US seller yet; the items land the same week the Ocarina of Time remake comes to Switch 2 on November 5.

Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School arrives Nov 5, day one on Game Pass
Coin Crew Games' co-op puzzle sequel Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School launches on November 5 and is included with Game Pass at launch, per Xbox Wire's list of new games for November 2-6, where the Xbox Store pre-order is $19.99. It's coming to PS5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X, with solo play plus online and local split-screen co-op. Polygon's early impressions call it a near-perfect couch co-op game, though they say its bigger focus on story mostly falls flat.

PS VR2 headset disappears from Sony's US PlayStation Direct store
Sony's US PlayStation Direct store no longer sells the PS VR2 headset: its product page now returns a 'Page Not Found' error, while the accessories section still lists the Sense controller charging station, the PC adapter and a PowerA storage case. Push Square reports the headset is still on sale through PlayStation Direct in the UK and, citing Road to VR, that removals from regional Direct pages began in mid-October; Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart list it mainly through third-party sellers at a markup (around $750 at Best Buy). Push Square's report carries no statement from Sony, so it isn't clear yet whether this is a stock gap or the start of a wind-down.

Modern Warfare 4's latest DMZ hotfix makes UAV Towers rarer
According to Eurogamer's report on the patch notes, Infinity Ward's latest Modern Warfare 4 hotfix randomizes where UAV Towers spawn in DMZ and cuts their spawn rate by 40 percent. It also stops several towers from appearing in the same area. Deadtown keeps multiple towers because DMZ Order progression needs them. The Sedative Inhaler, which hides players from UAVs, now lasts 120 seconds instead of 60. Eurogamer says a change that lets the inhaler also work against trait-upgraded towers is planned for Season 1. The game is on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch 2.

Overwatch director says some skins have to go to heroes that sell
In a group interview reported by Kotaku, Overwatch game director Aaron Keller said Blizzard prioritizes skins for heroes that 'support the actual bottom-line business' of the free-to-play shooter. He added that the team keeps raising its skin output so that less popular heroes get cosmetics too. He pointed to the two Mythic skins released each season: usually one goes to a hero expected to drive sales, and the other to a hero that hasn't had a Mythic or many other skins recently. Keller said the team wants to do as much as it can while staying 'responsible', so that it can keep supporting the game.

Xbox's 25 Years bundle now sells for $569.99 in the US, with all 25 games listed
Microsoft has put the 25 Years of XBOX Bundle on its US store at $569.99 for Windows PCs. It is still free with a qualifying new Windows PC bought from a participating US retailer between November 2 and December 31, 2026. Microsoft's official FAQ lists all 25 games, including The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Gears of War: Reloaded, Fallout 76, DOOM, Age of Mythology: Retold and BLINX: The Time Sweeper. Some, such as Gears of War: Reloaded and DOOM, also support Xbox Play Anywhere on consoles. Pure Xbox, which spotted the price, says the paid bundle is only sold in the US.

METRO Redux's new PS5 version quietly joins PS Plus Premium

Embark explains its use of AI-generated voice lines in ARC Raiders in a new developer video
In episode 5 of its 'Evolution of ARC Raiders' series on sound and music, posted on the game's YouTube channel, audio director Bence Pajor says generated lines were used for pings, quests and mission briefings because recording every variation was impractical, Rock Paper Shotgun reports. Chief creative officer Stefan Strandberg says in the video that Embark is 'not in the industry of replacing actors', and the voice actors for Shani and Celeste, Jo Rideout and Diana Gardner, also discuss working under the hybrid recording model. RPS notes that CEO Patrick Söderlund previously said the studio has been replacing some generated lines with newly recorded ones.
Sega Fave takes its ALL.Net and Aime arcade services offline after unauthorized server access
Sega Fave says a third party gained unauthorized access to servers tied to ALL.Net, its arcade game network, and the Aime card service, and it has kept both offline since 3 p.m. JST on November 1 while it investigates. Online play for ALL.Net-supported arcade titles is suspended, including games from Bandai Namco Experience; the company says its initial checks found no leak of customer or business-partner data and that payment details, including credit cards, are not held on the affected servers. Sega Fave has not given a date for services to resume and says the investigation will take some time.

Blizzard raises damage for every class in WoW Forever a day before launch
In development notes posted on the official World of Warcraft forums on November 3, Blizzard says it has raised damage for classes across the game and increased the health of higher-level creatures to compensate, after finding that sticking to Classic's power budgets left some iconic abilities feeling lackluster. The same notes speed up respawn rates (fastest in the starting zones) to cope with big launch crowds and say gamepad support is now complete, with all major gameplay and the core interface playable on a controller. Apart from bugs and serious outliers, Blizzard plans no big tuning changes until the raids open next month; WoW Forever launches on November 4.

Report: Days Gone studio Bend's next game is a third-person co-op title due in 2027
Sony's Bend Studio plans to reveal and release its next game in 2027, according to an MP1st report that cites "people aware of what's happening at Bend", as relayed by Eurogamer. The game is said to be third-person with co-op support but no live-service elements, and it is not a sequel to Days Gone. Bend hasn't announced anything since its previous live-service project was cancelled in 2025, so treat this as a rumor until Sony confirms it.

itch.io adds its 'No AI' filter to search results and widens mandatory AI disclosures
Indie storefront itch.io said on Bluesky early on November 3 that it is adding generative AI disclosure filtering to more parts of the site where it had been "critically lacking", including the search results page, and shared a screenshot of search with the "No AI" tag selected. Pages in the tabletop, books, comics and soundtracks categories now require an AI disclosure before they can be created or edited, joining game assets, which have required one for two years. The same morning the account said it had "just deleted a couple terabytes of ai slop".

Remedy's revenue more than triples in Q3 as Control Resonant becomes its fastest seller
Remedy Entertainment reported July-September 2026 revenue of EUR 39.6 million, up 226% from EUR 12.2 million a year earlier, with EBITDA of EUR 6.8 million and a small operating profit of EUR 0.6 million, in its unaudited business review published today. The studio says Control Resonant, out since September 24, passed one million copies sold on October 15 and is the fastest-selling game in its history, with close to half of players new to the series. Remedy kept its outlook for higher full-year revenue and EBITDA, and CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon said sales over the rest of the year will ultimately define 2026.

Last Gambit, a turn-based roguelite chess game from solo developer Mads, is free to play in Early Access on Steam (Windows, Mac and Linux) until it hits version 1.0 on November 13. From that day it will cost €4.99 or the regional equivalent, but the developer says anyone who has it in their Steam library before November 13 keeps it free forever, with no extra step needed.
