There are 12 Fields of Mistria romance options: six bachelorettes (Celine, Juniper, Reina, Valen, Adeline and Seridia) and six bachelors (Balor, March, Hayden, Ryis, Eiland and Caldarus). Romance opens at each candidate’s 8-heart event, where you choose Dating or Best Friends, and you can propose at 10 hearts with an Engagement Ring. You can date as many of them as you like at once, but you can only marry one.
NPC Studio’s official FAQ also confirms that no candidate is locked by gender. Marriage arrived with the 1.0 update on August 5, 2026, and the rules below match the current patch, v1.0.8 (October 13). Everything was checked against the official notes and the Fields of Mistria wiki on November 3, 2026.

Quick answer: Fields of Mistria romance rules
- Who: 12 candidates, and any of them can marry a player of any gender. Two of them, Seridia and Caldarus, are late-story spoiler romances.
- How to tell: a heart icon next to a villager’s name means they can be romanced. Everyone else shows a gem.
- Dating: reach 8 hearts, finish their 8-heart quest and pick the romantic choice. Picking Best Friends is permanent.
- Dates: only on Saturday or Sunday, one per partner per week. A date gives 60 heart points, according to the wiki, which is more than any gift.
- Proposal: at 10 hearts (1,755 points) Elsie sends the Engagement Ring recipe. The ring needs a Dragon-Forged Core, which comes late in the Mines story.
- Multiple partners: allowed while dating. When you get engaged, the others switch to Best Friends unless you turn that off in Gameplay settings first.

All 12 Fields of Mistria marriage candidates
The table lists each candidate’s birthday (gifts are worth extra that day), their 8-heart quest, which is the one that unlocks dating, and where the 10-heart proposal scene takes place. Quest names and locations come from each character’s Heart Events page on the Fields of Mistria wiki.
| Candidate | Who they are | Birthday | 8-heart quest (dating unlock) | Proposal scene |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Celine | Gardener, helps at the General Store | Summer 14 | A Lost Flower, at Celine’s Cottage | The Summit |
| Juniper | Sorceress who runs the Bathhouse | Fall 26 | Potions and Errands (bring her a Breath of Flame) | The Summit |
| Reina | Head cook at the Inn | Fall 12 | The Aldarian Cooking Contest, at the Inn | The Eastern Road |
| Valen | Town doctor at the Clinic | Fall 1 | The Panacea, at the Western Ruins | The Western Ruins |
| Adeline | Acting leader of Mistria | Winter 18 | Lost Track of Time, at the Manor | The Summit |
| Seridia (spoiler) | The Dragon Priestess from the Mines | Winter 2 | Your Heart Desires, at her temple | Gate Between Worlds, bottom of the Mines |
| Balor | Traveling merchant, stays at the Inn | Summer 10 | For Good, in his room at the Inn | The Eastern Road |
| March | Blacksmith | Spring 16 | All-day event that starts with Olric at your door (needs Mines progress past floor 60) | The Summit |
| Hayden | Runs Sweetwater Farm next door | Winter 8 | A Little While Longer, at his house | The Summit |
| Ryis | Carpenter with his uncle Landen | Spring 4 | A Duet, at the Cottage Ruins | The Eastern Road |
| Eiland | Archaeologist, Adeline’s brother | Summer 20 | The Glade (needs the Lava Caves unlocked) | The stele outside the Manor |
| Caldarus (spoiler) | The dragon guardian | Spring 25 | Life in This Form, at his Deep Woods temple | The Deep Woods |
A few candidates have extra conditions on earlier events. Balor’s 2-heart quest only appears after the Repair the Bridge story quest. His 6-heart event needs you to have earned 10,000 gold in total. Adeline and Balor also send a different 8-heart letter depending on whether you took them to the Shooting Star Festival.
How hearts work: points for every level
Friendship points never decay, and a disliked gift doesn’t cost you any. You can give each villager one gift a day, and talking to them adds 7 points. According to the wiki’s Friendship page, a loved gift is worth +20 (+40 on their birthday), a liked gift +10 and a neutral one +3. Candidates have heart events at 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 hearts.
| Hearts | Total points | What it unlocks for candidates |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 180 | 1st heart event |
| 4 | 390 | 2nd heart event, birthday letters, invites to the Shooting Star Festival and the Harvest Festival dance |
| 6 | 705 | 3rd heart event |
| 8 | 1,125 | 4th heart event: the confession, where you choose Dating or Best Friends |
| 10 | 1,755 | Proposal possible (only if you’re dating them) |
Here’s what that means in practice: a loved gift plus a chat every day adds up to 27 points, so 10 hearts takes about 65 in-game days on gifts alone. After you start dating, a weekend date adds 60 more each week, which shortens the last stretch from 8 to 10 hearts. This guide covers the romance steps. For the gifts themselves, our Fields of Mistria gift guide lists the loved gifts for all 34 villagers, including every candidate.

How to date in Fields of Mistria
- Reach 8 hearts with a candidate and finish their 8-heart quest from the table above.
- Choose the romantic option during the event. Their status changes to Dating, and Elsie then stops by with dating tips and your first Date Inspiration item (two if you’ve unlocked the Deep Woods).
- Ask them out on a Saturday or Sunday. Dates are weekend-only, with one date per partner per week.
- Unlock new date types with Date Inspiration items. The first time you go on each type of date with someone, you get a Photo Card you can hang in your house.
The wiki’s Dates page lists six regular date types. Each one is unlocked by its own item:
| Date Inspiration item | Date location |
|---|---|
| Lovely Seashell | The Beach |
| Picnic Set | The Deep Woods |
| Rough Gemstone | The Forge (gem cutting) |
| Inn Menu | The Inn |
| Dollhouse Bench | The Eastern Road (park) |
| Bath Soap | The Bathhouse |
The Shooting Star Festival and the Harvest Festival dance count as festival dates, and each one has its own Photo Card. Patch v1.0.7 changed two things. You now only need to be dating someone to find Date Inspiration items, so you no longer have to unlock a date first. The dating tutorial also now says that dates give more heart points than gifts. One warning from the wiki: there’s no way to retake a date photo, and the weather and time of day show up in it, so pick your outfit before you go.
Can you date multiple people in Fields of Mistria?
Yes. There’s no limit on how many candidates you can date or befriend. Because dates are one per partner per week, two partners can fill both Saturday and Sunday. You can still only marry one person, and there’s no divorce in the current version.
The official 1.0 FAQ says anyone else you’re dating switches to Best Friend status when you marry. The 1.0 patch notes add two Gameplay settings that become available during the engagement tutorial:
- One hides the break-up letters and follow-up lines. The status change to Best Friends still happens.
- The other turns off the switch from Dating to Best Friends entirely. You have to turn it on before you confirm an engagement, or it won’t apply.
Where the sources differ: the wiki’s Friendship page describes these toggles loosely, and its wording reads as if a single setting does both jobs. We went with NPC Studio’s patch notes, which describe two separate options.
Two more rules to know before you choose. There’s no way to break up with a partner or a Best Friend, and you can’t switch a Best Friend over to romance later. If you’re not sure, choosing Dating at the 8-heart event keeps your options open.
Secret marriage candidates: Caldarus and Seridia
Spoilers for the Mines storyline. These are the two silhouettes on the official site’s romance list. Caldarus doesn’t gain hearts from conversation. Instead, his hearts rise as the story advances: 2 hearts for the Water Tablet, 3 for the Earth Tablet, 4 when you start the Fire Tablet and 6 when you break the Fire Seal. After that, you raise his hearts with gifts (he has his own gift list) until his 8-heart temple quest. You can’t propose to him until you’ve completed Breaking The Final Seal.
Seridia is the Dragon Priestess from the Mines. She moves into her temple at the Western Ruins after the Final Seal breaks, and her 8-heart quest, Your Heart Desires, starts there. Both of them start sending birthday gifts at 6 hearts instead of 4.

How to get married in Fields of Mistria
- Reach 10 hearts with someone you’re dating. The morning after, Elsie delivers the Engagement Ring recipe scroll.
- Craft the Engagement Ring: it takes 2 Diamonds, 4 Mistril Ingots, 4 Gold Ingots and 1 Dragon-Forged Core (wiki). The core is the real gate: you only get it after reaching the bottom of the Mines (floor 100). The official notes say the ring is crafted at a Forge.
- Hold the ring and talk to your partner. A Discuss prompt starts their 10-heart proposal scene. You receive a unique special item, then choose whether to propose or postpone.
- Pick a wedding date within the year, at least 5 days after the proposal. Since v1.0.3, the festival setup days (Spring 14, Fall 7 and Winter 7) can’t be chosen.
- Plan the wedding by talking to your fiancé before the day. You can choose the flower color, the cake flavor and the meal at the reception.
Tip for collectors: the 1.0 notes confirm that 10-heart events can be replayed with the ring until you actually propose. That means you can see every partner’s proposal scene and collect every special item, then marry the one you want.
The wedding takes up the whole day. You get to keep the wedding outfit you choose, and the townsfolk water your crops and feed your animals for you. Afterwards your spouse moves into your farmhouse, and the next day you get three pieces of their own furniture in the mail (four for Juniper). Children are optional. NPC Studio says a Mystical Feather cutscene comes “in the weeks following your marriage”, and the wiki puts it at two weeks. You choose whether to have a baby.
Which romance option is right for you?
The quickest early romances are the candidates you meet every day: Celine on your doorstep, Hayden next door at Sweetwater Farm, and Reina and Balor at the Inn. Juniper and Eiland both help with the late Mines story, so their routes tie in with the main plot. March and Eiland both need Mines progress for their 8-heart events, and Caldarus and Seridia need the full Mines story. Any of the four suits players who spend a lot of time underground. FAQ
How many romance options are in Fields of Mistria?

Yes. His hearts rise with the Mines story up to 6. After that, gifts take him to his 8-heart temple quest. You can only propose to him after Breaking The Final Seal.
