To become famous in BitLife, get a job that Candywriter lists as fame-eligible (actor, musician, singer, model, writer, app developer and seven more), climb to the top of it, then keep your fame up with the Fame activities. If you’d rather not spend money, the cheapest routes are the base-game singer, writer and app developer jobs, or building a following on social media. The Hollywood Star, a paid item, skips the climb and makes you famous as soon as you’re hired into one of those jobs.
Mechanics below come from Candywriter’s BitLife FAQ and patch notes plus the BitLife wiki’s Fame page; player tips are labelled as community tips.

Quick answer: how to become famous in BitLife
- Pick a fame job. Candywriter’s FAQ lists Actor, App Developer, Writer, Chef, DJ, Magician, Reporter, Model, Singer, Politician (from Governor up), Musician, Athlete and CEO. Royals and astronauts can be famous too.
- Actor and musician are the classic star careers, but both are Job Packs (Candywriter’s FAQ lists them among the packs Boss Mode unlocks; Boss Mode is $20.99 on the US App Store).
- Free routes: the Record Label singer ladder, Writer, Mobile App Developer, Magician, DJ, social media, or the free Celebrity Dating app, which lets you become a famous socialite.
- Instant fame: the Hollywood Star (a one-time purchase) makes you famous the moment you’re hired into a fame job. You switch it on and off under Items > Collectibles.
- Staying famous: once you’re famous, use Activities > Fame (Book, Commercial, Photo Shoot, Talk Show) and keep posting on social media. If you quit the job or stop working at it, your fame fades.
Which careers can make you famous in BitLife?
Fame arrived in the Fame Update (1.15, April 26, 2019), and Candywriter’s 3.9.5 patch notes (June 23, 2023) list every fame career: Actor, App Developer, Writer, Chef, DJ, Magician, Reporter, Model, Singer, Governor/President, Royal, Musician, Athlete, CEO and Astronaut. The routes this guide covers, with the wiki’s requirements:
| Career | How you get in | Paid pack? | Where the fame comes from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Actor | Special Careers. Start as an extra at 18, or hire an agent | Yes, a Job Pack (or Boss Mode) | Bigger roles and a high Reputation, all the way up to lead actor |
| Musician | Special Careers > Musician. Audition as a solo artist or for a band | Yes, a Job Pack (or Boss Mode) | Signing a contract gives fame right away. Albums, singles and tours build Popularity |
| Singer | Record Label job ladder: Background Vocalist, Lounge Singer, Singer, Lead Singer | No | Promotions up the ladder |
| Model | Model Job Pack agency career, or the older Model Agency jobs | The agency career is a Job Pack | Reaching the top rank (Supermodel in the pack) |
| Writer (author) | Publisher > Writer. Secondary school and high Smarts | No | Fame-eligible job. Once famous, every book you write adds more fame |
| App developer | Mobile App Developer. University degree in Computer Science | No | Fame-eligible job (added in version 1.8, December 2018) |
| Influencer | Social media accounts (Activities or Assets), open from age 13 | No | Followers, verification and going viral |
Per the wiki’s career lists, Magician (Circus) and DJ (Record Label) need no education, Chef needs community college plus three years’ experience, and Reporter needs a Journalism degree. For the CEO route, our guide to getting rich in BitLife covers running a business.

How to become a famous actor in BitLife (fastest route)
Acting has been a full career since the Movie Star Update (3.1, March 11, 2022). Candywriter’s patch notes describe the climb: “Start as an extra and work your way up to lead actor, managing your reputation along the way.” According to the wiki’s Acting page, here’s the fastest order:
- Childhood: ask your parents for acting lessons (they pay up to age 12) and join the Drama Club at school, which raises your acting skill for free. With God Mode, you can give the character the Acting special talent at birth.
- Age 18: take extra roles. Each one raises the chance that an agent notices you, and if one does, sign with them.
- Climb to lead roles: practise for your role, develop your character and get along with the cast. The Reputation bar shown for actors rises when a show or movie you have a big part in is a hit.
- Bonus routes: the wiki lists achievements for a leading role in a Bollywood film (act in India) and for a long-running telenovela (act in a Latin American country such as Colombia). Both also count toward the Famous ribbon.
Community tip: wiki contributors suggest getting your acting bar to at least 80% before going pro and keeping your Looks around 80% or higher. Directing is a separate paid pack, covered in our BitLife movie director guide. Our older BitLife actor guide is from before the Movie Star Update.
How to become a famous musician or singer in BitLife
The Pop Star Update (1.45, November 24, 2020) added the Musician career. According to the wiki’s Music page:
- Start early. Instrument lessons open at about age 6 and voice lessons at 8, if your parents agree. Characters born with the music talent start with a green skill bar instead of a red one.
- Max one instrument. Guitar, keyboard, bass and voice let you either join a band or go solo. Saxophone, violin, cello and piano are solo-only, and drums are band-only.
- Sign a contract. After school, go to Job > Special Careers > Musician. You gain fame as soon as you sign with a label or join a band. The genre in your contract is almost impossible to change later.
- Release every year. You can record only one album or single a year. Concerts and world tours raise your Popularity, and the wiki says tours bring in the most money.
The free version: the base-game Record Label ladder (Background Vocalist, then Lounge Singer, Singer and Lead Singer) needs no pack, and Singer is on Candywriter’s fame list. If you’re after the K-Pop achievement, the wiki says to achieve fame as a singer while living in South Korea.
How to become a famous model in BitLife
Model is on Candywriter’s fame list. The full agency career (headshots, castings, go-sees and Fashion Week) is a Job Pack, and fame peaks at the top rank. We cover every step, including the audition answers, in our BitLife model guide. In short, start with high Looks, take modeling lessons, win local castings at 18, join an agency and say yes to every Fashion Week invitation. Models age out faster than other careers do, so plan a second fame job for later in life.
How to become a famous author in BitLife
Writer is a base-game job: you’ll find it under Publisher > Writer. The wiki lists secondary school and high Smarts as the requirements, and it’s on Candywriter’s fame list. Once you’re famous, Activities > Fame > Book lets you pick a title and pay a small fee. The result can be anything from an “absolute flop” to an “overnight bestseller”, and it raises your fame to match. Since patch 3.11.1 (October 19, 2023), writing a book also gains you social media followers. The Book option only appears once you’re famous, so it sustains fame rather than starting it.
How to become social media famous (influencer) in BitLife
Social media is the only fame route that needs no job at all. The Social Media Update (1.37, June 12, 2020) let players “monetize your account through ads or product promotions and become a professional influencer.” Twitch joined later, in the Landlord Expansion Pack update, as free content for everyone. According to the wiki’s Social Media page:
- Sign up for every platform you can at 13 (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitch, Twitter and YouTube) and post every year.
- Pick the post types your followers like. When posts land, you gain followers and likes, and sometimes a post goes viral.
- Monetize YouTube or Twitch, and promote products. Promoting products your followers don’t like can lower your fame.
- If you aren’t famous, you can request verification at 100,000 followers. Famous characters can verify sooner, and verifying while famous earns the “Check!” achievement.
- Be careful about buying followers. Candywriter’s notes warn it “may land you in trouble”, and the wiki says buying too many gets you suspended for spam. Trolling too much gets you suspended for abusive behaviour.

Non-famous Bitizens can request verification at 100,000 followers, per the BitLife wiki. AI-generated illustration
Community tip: for the Influencer ribbon, the wiki’s ribbon guide says to get verified on every platform and reach a million followers. It also says the easy way is to become famous through a job first and then build social media, because famous characters gain followers faster.
How to become famous as an app developer in BitLife
Mobile App Developer has been a career since version 1.8 (December 20, 2018). The wiki says it needs a university degree in Computer Science, and Candywriter’s FAQ lists App Developer as fame-eligible. Neither source documents a separate fame mechanic for developers beyond getting hired and promoted, so the sure route to instant fame here is the Hollywood Star. Bonus from the wiki: be born in Miami or Tucson, study Computer Science and get hired by Candywriter or BitLife to earn the “Candywriter” achievement and the Teammate ribbon.
How to become famous in BitLife for free
Candywriter’s FAQ says BitLife is “fully enjoyable without requiring any purchases”, and several fame routes cost nothing:
| Free route | What to do | Speed |
|---|---|---|
| Singer (Record Label) | Background Vocalist, then climb to Lead Singer | Slow (promotions) |
| Magician or DJ | No education needed. Get the job right after school | Fast to start |
| Writer | Finish secondary school with high Smarts | Medium |
| App developer | Computer Science degree | Medium (needs university) |
| Social media | Post every year from age 13 | Slow without a fame job |
| Socialite | Love > Celebrity Dating app (free for all players since 3.14.6, July 4, 2024) | Depends on who you date |
| Royalty | Be born into a royal family or marry into one | Instant, but luck-based |
Royals show “Respect” instead of a Fame bar, but they still get Fame activities such as writing a book and doing commercials. The wiki warns the press may accuse royals of exploiting their position. The paid shortcut is the Hollywood Star, sold on its own or in the Fame & Fortune Bundle (added January 18, 2024, alongside the Golden Piggy Bank and Golden Passport).
How to stay famous: Fame activities and what makes fame drop
Once you’re famous, Activities > Fame (“Manage your fame”) opens four options. Here’s what the wiki’s Fame page says each one does:
| Activity | What happens | Pays? |
|---|---|---|
| Book | Write and title a book. The result ranges from flop to overnight bestseller | Yes, sales money |
| Commercial | Accept an offer for a local, regional or international TV ad | Yes (the Endorser achievement needs a $2m commercial) |
| Photo Shoot | Pose for a magazine that makes you an offer | Yes |
| Talk Show | Go on a show. You might embarrass yourself or make a great impression | No |

Your fame drops if you quit the job that made you famous, lose your looks or get older (models and movie stars are hit hardest), stop releasing albums as a musician, stop training as an athlete, or simply stop trying to keep it up. Famous characters also get random events, like a stalker, an insult from another celebrity, or paparazzi at a bad moment. Musicians, actors and athletes have a career bar (Popularity, Reputation or Greatness) that is separate from Fame, and the Fame activities don’t raise it.
Fame achievements and the Famous ribbon
| Achievement | How to get it (per the wiki) |
|---|---|
| Brightest Star | Reach 100% Fame |
| Check! | Get a social media account verified while famous |
| Social Media Star | Reach a million followers |
| Endorser | Get paid $2m for a commercial |
| K-Pop | Become a famous singer in South Korea |
| Best in Show | Win Best Actor |
You earn the Famous ribbon when you die if your character “achieved fame in life”. Candywriter’s FAQ gives becoming a movie star as its example. More long careers: our BitLife lawyer and judge guide, or try these games like BitLife.
FAQ
How do you get famous in BitLife fast?
The fastest way is the Hollywood Star: switch it on, then get any fame job (for example Magician or DJ, which need no education). Without it, the quickest free route is a fame job you can start right after school, followed by Fame activities and social media posts.
Can you become famous in BitLife without a job?
Yes. You can grow a social media following (verification opens at 100,000 followers for non-famous characters), become a socialite through the free Celebrity Dating app, or be born royal.
Why isn’t my fame going up in BitLife?
Check that your job is on Candywriter’s fame list, and that you’re watching the Fame bar rather than Popularity or Reputation. Keep working hard, keep your Looks up, and use the Fame activities once they unlock.
Is there a cheat to become famous in BitLife?
There’s no cheat code. The official shortcut is the Hollywood Star, a paid item. Skip “fame hacks” and modded apps; this guide sticks to the real game.
