To breed Strombonin in My Singing Monsters, put a Spunge and a Bowgart (the two parents) in the Breeding Structure on Cold Island. Strombonin is the result. It’s the only combo for it in the main game. A Strombonin egg shows a 23 hour timer (17h 15m enhanced), and the attempt isn’t guaranteed. On Mythical Island you can’t breed one from scratch: you teleport it over at level 15 or buy it. In Dawn of Fire the parents are different (Scups + Floogull). Below are all the combos with parents and results, a timer table, and how Rare and Epic Strombonin work.

How to breed Strombonin on Cold Island
Strombonin is a Mythical monster, not a Natural one, so you can’t get it just by adding up elements. It has one fixed pair of parents. The My Singing Monsters Wiki lists the combo on Strombonin’s page, and both parents’ pages list it under “Used in Breeding” with Strombonin as the result:

Big Blue Bubble doesn’t publish the odds, but the wiki notes the pair isn’t a 100% combo. Lit Wishing Torches raise the chance by an unknown amount. Breeding doesn’t use up either parent, so you can keep retrying. This order wastes the least time:
- Reach level 9. Spunge, Bowgart and Strombonin all unlock at level 9.
- Breed a Spunge. The wiki’s best combo is Toe Jammer + Dandidoo (12h, or 9h enhanced). Spunge needs a 3×3 spot.
- Breed a Bowgart. The best combo is Toe Jammer + Furcorn (also 12h / 9h). Bowgart needs 2×2. Our Bowgart breeding guide has every combo and island.
- Pair Spunge with Bowgart on Cold Island and check the timer. 23h (or 17h 15m enhanced) means a Strombonin.
- Keep the parents. They’re also two of the four Triples that pair with a Deedge for Cold Island’s Ethereal, Grumpyre (see our Grumpyre breeding guide).
- Free up 3 beds and a 2×2 spot before the egg hatches.
Strombonin also lives on Mirror Cold Island, which the wiki lists among its islands. It isn’t on Plant, Air, Water or Earth Island, so this combo does nothing there.
Strombonin breeding time: did you get one?
The Breeding Structure timer tells you what’s inside before it hatches. When Spunge + Bowgart fails, you usually get one of the parents back. The wiki notes the pair can also give Rare Spunge, Rare Bowgart, Rare Potbelly or Rare Toe Jammer while those Rares are on sale. Times from the wiki:

A default-speed Strombonin holds the Breeding Structure for 23 hours and the Nursery for another 23. The Enhanced Breeding Structure and Enhanced Nursery each cut that by 25%, so upgrading both saves more than 11 hours per Strombonin.
How to get Strombonin on Mythical Island
Mythical Island unlocks at level 12, after you buy Fire Oasis, and only holds Mythical monsters. Its breeding rules are different from Cold Island’s. Every combo there needs Cataliszt plus a Mythical teleported from another island, so Spunge + Bowgart doesn’t work. You have three ways in:
- Teleport it: feed a Cold Island Strombonin to level 15 (655,320 treats in total, per the wiki’s feeding table) and teleport it. Its level resets and it goes to the Nursery first.
- Buy it: 500 Diamonds on Mythical Island (250 at 50% off).
- Get a spare from a failed Cranchee: once you own one Strombonin there, breed Cataliszt + Strombonin. The result you want is usually Cranchee, but a failure can hand back a Strombonin.

Cataliszt unlocks at level 12 and costs 100,000 coins. On Mythical Island, Cataliszt and Cranchee both like Strombonin, and Strombonin likes Cataliszt back, so keeping the pair together helps happiness too.
How to breed Strombonin in Dawn of Fire (The Continent)
My Singing Monsters: Dawn of Fire uses different parents. According to the wiki’s Dawn of Fire Strombonin page, which both parents’ DoF pages back up:

- Only during events: the wiki says Strombonin can only be bred for a limited time during special events in DoF. Check the game’s event tab before you set up the pair.
- Where: The Continent, from level 9. It needs 1 bed and a 2×2 spot. You can buy it for 750 Diamonds.
- Parents: Scups (best combo Noggin + Quibble, 12h) and Floogull (Tweedle + Stogg, 12h). Both unlock at level 9 on The Continent.
- Wanderer Island: at level 20 it can teleport there for 15 Cold Essence and 85 Musical Essence. The trip takes 2 days 4 hours 30 minutes and pays 5 Diamonds.

How to breed Rare Strombonin and Epic Strombonin
Both variants only breed (or sell) during limited promotions. Rare Strombonin uses the same parents as the Common one. Epic Strombonin has its own combo on each island, and neither is guaranteed. The Epic combos below come from Epic Strombonin’s page, and each one shows up on both parents’ pages:

On Mythical Island, Cataliszt + G’joob usually aims for Bleatnik, so an Epic Strombonin there is a lucky result. Big Blue Bubble added Rare Strombonin in Update 3.8 (December 14, 2022) and Epic Strombonin in Update 4.6 (December 11, 2024). The Epic’s release art says it can be bought or bred at level 9 on Cold Island and level 12 on Mythical Island.

The “Cold Snap” and “Best Served Cold” sales (February and March) covered Cold Natural monsters only, so they didn’t include this Mythical. Big Blue Bubble hasn’t announced the next window. Last year the wiki logged all Rare Mythicals in a Cyber Week sale (December 1-8, 2025), all Epic Mythicals from December 4 to 8, and every Rare and Epic in Festival of Yay’s “The More the Merrier” (December 22, 2025 to January 5, 2026). What does Strombonin like?
Each different liked item near a monster adds 25% happiness. Strombonin’s likes, with unlock levels from the wiki:

Is Strombonin worth breeding?
- Rewards: placing your first Strombonin completes a goal worth 5 Diamonds and gives 110,000 XP.
- Coins: low. The wiki says it “does not have a high Coin production” despite being a Mythical (its income table tops out at 39,698 coins at level 20). It sells for 168,750 coins.
- Mythical Island: it’s one of Cranchee’s two parents, and Cataliszt + Strombonin is Cranchee’s only combo. Cranchee is a Mythical Island exclusive that needs 4 beds and costs 750 Diamonds to buy.
- Song: it plays a trombone through its snail companion, the Strombone, and the wiki notes it’s the only brass monster on Cold Island and Mythical Island.
