Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Year Two starts today, November 3, with the free version 2.0.0 update on PS5, PS4, Switch 2, Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC (Steam and Epic). The update adds a 1v1 Duel Mode, a seventh “Super Slot” for gadgets and Bayonetta as a free racer. The first paid pack of Season Pass Two, the Godzilla Pack, arrives the same day.
SEGA confirmed the date on its official Sonic account on November 2. The PlayStation Blog says Year Two is “officially launching later today”. SEGA hasn’t given a rollout time yet, and the full 2.0.0 patch notes are due on sega.com during launch day.

What’s in the Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Year Two update
SEGA set out the free Day One changes in its Year Two Showcase wrap-up:
- Duel Mode: one-on-one races built around a Duel Boost gauge. It fills over time and faster with item use, and pays out big bursts of speed. You can see your rival’s items, gadgets and position. You can play it four ways: Rival Duel (offline against CPU rivals, with a special machine for beating all of them), Duel Match free matchmaking, limited-time Best-of-10 events with Duel Class ranks and medal rewards, and Friend Match with custom rules.
- Grand Master Plate: a new gadget plate with a seventh Super Slot. A 1-slot gadget placed there gets its boosted effect amplified further. 15 new gadgets arrive on Day One.
- DLC racers as CPU opponents: free and paid post-launch characters now show up as CPU racers both online and offline.
- Longer Festivals: new Festivals now run for ten days. Older Festivals will come back for shorter stretches.
SEGA also released a 2.0.0 patch notes preview video, presented by Sonic Global Community Director Aaron Webber. According to summaries of the video by Nintendo Life and Push Square, it also covers PvP balance changes and a Free Match option in World Match that doesn’t affect your rank. Other additions include a Play Missions feature with rewards and the SEGA Fighting Beats Infinity music album.
How to unlock Bayonetta, and the free racers coming next
Bayonetta is free from today. You unlock her through Rival Duel matches in the new mode. SEGA has two more free additions planned for Year Two: a McLaren Racing machine for Sonic in McLaren’s Papaya and Anthracite livery later in November, and Aigis of the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad, with her Palladion Dressy machine, in early 2027. Each free drop is followed by a themed Festival with bonus rewards.
Godzilla Pack and the Season Pass Two roadmap
The Godzilla Pack adds the Godzilla Escape course and three machines: Godzilla Cruiser, King Ghidorah Coupe and Mothra Surf. It also brings extra Jukebox tracks and sounds. It’s part of Season Pass Two ($29.99). Steam doesn’t list a standalone price yet, but Year One’s guest packs sell for $5.99 each there. Also unlocking today for Season Pass Two owners is the bonus SEGA Consoles Pack, with three machines: Genesis Tower US, SegaSaturn JP and Dreamcast EU. Players who own both season passes also get Super Shadow and the Super Dark Flare machine.

Sonic Racing CrossWorlds price after the cut
SEGA permanently cut the Standard Edition from $69.99 to $39.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition from $89.99 to $59.99 on October 9. The new Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition also costs $59.99 and bundles the Standard Edition with Season Pass Two. SEGA warns that current owners shouldn’t buy it, because they would get a second copy of the base game. For them, Season Pass Two on its own is the upgrade. If you’re waiting for Black Friday gaming deals, keep in mind that the lower prices are now the standard ones, not a sale. Our PS5 Black Friday 2026 tracker covers the PlayStation side.
The update shares its date with Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered on our games coming out this week list.
What’s next
The McLaren Racing machine is next on the free side later this month, and the EVANGELION Pack follows in January 2027. SEGA’s own patch notes should be out later today.
