Press ~ on PC and type player.additem f 10000 for credits. Starfield commands for skill points, levels, skills, items and ammo, plus the achievements rule.

Starfield console commands only work on PC. Press the ~ (tilde) key, the one under Esc, type a command such as player.additem f 10000 for 10,000 credits, and press Enter. player.setlevel 30 sets your level, player.addperk 002CFCAC adds a rank of Piloting, and cgf "Game.AddPerkPoints" 10 is the command players use for skill points. Below: how to open the console, every useful command by task, skill and item IDs, and what Bethesda says about achievements. Checked November 3, 2026 UTC. The current version on Steam is Starfield Update 1.16.244 from June 11, 2026.

How to open the console in Starfield (PC only)

The Starfield Wiki describes most console commands as developer playtesting tools left in for players, and PC Gamer notes that many of them work exactly as in Skyrim and Fallout 4. It’s in the Steam version and in the PC version from the Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass. GamesRadar notes that console commands don’t work on Xbox, and the same applies to the PlayStation 5 version, which Bethesda released on April 7, 2026 alongside the Free Lanes update.

  1. Make a new save first. Console changes can’t always be undone, and some commands can break a quest.
  2. Press ~ while playing. The game pauses and the console opens on the lower half of the screen.
  3. The first time per session, you’ll see a warning. GamerGuides quotes it as “Use of certain console commands will disable achievements”. PC Gamer says to close the console with ~, then click OK or press E to dismiss it. The warning comes back after you restart the game.
  4. Open the console again, type a command and press Enter. Commands aren’t case-sensitive.

“player.” commands, targets and IDs

Commands starting with player. act on your character. Without that prefix, a command acts on whatever you clicked while the console was open, such as an NPC, a door or a dropped weapon. The Starfield Wiki notes you can’t select items inside your inventory, only objects in the world. IDs are eight-digit hexadecimal numbers, and Shacknews points out that you can drop the leading zeros, so player.additem 0000000F 500 and player.additem f 500 do the same thing.

Starfield console commands for credits and digipicks

What you want Command Notes
Credits player.additem f 10000 Change the number to the amount you want. PC Gamer, PCGamesN and Rock Paper Shotgun all list it
Digipicks player.additem a 50 Digipick form ID 0000000A, confirmed on the Starfield Wiki item page
Any item player.additem <ID> <amount> Goes into your inventory
Spawn at your feet player.placeatme <ID> <amount> Also works for NPCs and creatures
Pay off a bounty player.paycrimegold 0 0 <faction ID> Pays from the credits you carry, so it’s fast, not free

Faction IDs for bounties, as listed by PC Gamer and Rock Paper Shotgun (both agree): Crimson Fleet 00010B30, Freestar Collective 000638E5, Neon / Ryujin Industries 0026FDEA, Trade Authority 0022E53D and United Colonies 0005BD93.

Skill points and level up commands

Command What it does Catch
player.setlevel 30 Sets your character level None of the guides we read confirm whether it also hands out the skill points for those levels. Check your Skills menu afterwards
player.modav experience 50000 Adds XP to your current total (Shacknews) Only Shacknews lists this one
cgf "Game.AddPerkPoints" 10 Adds 10 skill points to spend Keep the quotes. Not in any official Bethesda document: it comes from player guides and a Steam community guide (comment from June 2025). ClutchPoints writes it as game.addperkpoints
player.addperk <skill ID> Adds a rank of a skill PC Gamer says each use adds one rank, so repeat it for higher ranks. Dexerto says it needs at least one free skill point
player.removeperk <skill ID> Removes the skill Useful for undoing a wrong pick

Why cgf? The game’s own help text lists CallGlobalFunction (cgf) as the command that “calls a global papyrus function”, with the function name first and the values after it. AddPerkPoints is one of those functions, which is why the command looks different from the others.

Normally, every skill rank after the first is locked behind a challenge. The Starfield Wiki’s skills page explains that you buy a rank with a skill point, then complete that rank’s challenge before the next one unlocks. Skills sit in five trees (Physical, Social, Combat, Science, Tech) with four tiers each.

A few that players often want to drop or swap, all matching in both lists: Alien DNA 00227FDA, Dream Home 00227FDF, Kid Stuff 00227FDE, Wanted 00227FDD, Serpent’s Embrace 00227FD0, Spaced 00227FE2, Terra Firma 00227FE1, Introvert 00227FD8 and Extrovert 00227FD7. To open the full character creator, including background and traits, type showlooksmenu player 1. showlooksmenu player 2 opens a partial creator that keeps your traits and background, according to PC Gamer.

Starfield item IDs: resources, aid and ammo

Use these with player.additem <ID> <amount>. Every ID matches in at least two guides we read. Where they disagree, we left the item out (Europium is a known mismatch).

Item Type ID
Adaptive Frame Manufactured 00246B6A

Weapons work the same way, but PC Gamer notes that whether you get a plain or modded version is random. Examples from both lists: Coachman 0026D96B, Grendel 00028A02, Kraken 0021FEB4, Maelstrom 002984DF, Magshear 0002EB3C and Novablast Disruptor 0026D968. Items added since the guides were written (Shattered Space, Terran Armada, X-Tech from the Free Lanes update) aren’t in these lists, so look them up with help.

God mode, noclip and other useful commands

Command What it does
tgm God mode: invulnerable, with unlimited stamina and carry weight according to PC Gamer
tim Immortal mode: you take damage, but health never reaches zero
tcl Noclip. The game describes it as toggling collision and turning off gravity
player.setav carryweight 9999 Sets your carry limit
player.setav health 1000 Sets your maximum health
player.setav speedmult 150 Movement speed in percent (100 is normal)
psb Adds every Starborn power (Rock Paper Shotgun counts 24)
player.setav starpower 500 Raises your power pool
kah / killall Kills nearby hostiles / everything nearby, including friendlies
tdetect / tcai Enemies can’t detect you in stealth / NPCs stop fighting
unlock Unlocks the door or container you clicked
RefuelSpaceship Refuels the selected ship, or yours if nothing is selected
setforcespeechchallengealwayssucceed 1 Every persuasion check succeeds
tfc / tm Free camera / hide the HUD, handy for screenshots
passtime 8 Skips 8 hours
tmm 1 Shows all map markers. PC Gamer warns that tmm 0 doesn’t remove them again

Shacknews lists saq (start all quests) and caqs (complete all quests), but warns that both will probably crash your game. Don’t use them on a save you care about.

How to find any item ID with the help command

Type help followed by a name. The Starfield Wiki’s console page gives help 40mm as an example: it returns AMMO: (002B5592) '40mm XPL', and that number in brackets is the ID. Put the name in quotes if it has spaces, and add 4 plus a form type to filter the results, as in help "orion" 4 WEAP.

  • WEAP weapons, ARMO armor and spacesuits, AMMO ammunition
  • ALCH aid, food and drink; MISC credits, digipicks and junk
  • PERK skills, traits and backgrounds; OMOD weapon and armor mods
  • NPC_ characters; BOOK books, magazines and notes; GBFM ships (Shacknews)

Do console commands disable achievements in Starfield?

Yes, while they’re active. Bethesda’s support page says “Achievements do not unlock when console commands are enabled” and that rebooting the game “will typically cause Steam to re-enable achievements”. The same page says console commands in Starfield create a separate save file from the ones where they were never used. Bethesda’s Update 1.14.74 notes (November 2024) also fixed “an issue where some console commands did not disable certain achievements”, which shows the block is intended. None of the 2026 patch notes we read, up to 1.16.244, mention console commands.

Guides and wikis go further than Bethesda does. GamerGuides, PC Gamer and Shacknews say console commands disable achievements for that playthrough. The Starfield Wiki says “many (but not all)” commands do, and GamerGuides calls help the only command that’s probably safe. Our advice: keep your achievement run on its own saves, and only use the console on a separate character. Mods work differently. Bethesda says Creations disable achievements unless they’re tagged “Achievement Friendly”.

Coming from another Bethesda game? Many of these commands carry over. Compare our Skyrim console commands guide, the Fallout 4 commands for perk points and caps, our Fallout New Vegas console commands and Cyberpunk 2077’s console commands, which need a mod to work.

FAQ

What is the Starfield console command for credits?

player.additem f 10000. Replace 10000 with any amount. The long form, player.additem 0000000F 10000, does the same thing.

How do I add skill points with the console in Starfield?

Players use cgf "Game.AddPerkPoints" 10, keeping the quotes. Bethesda doesn’t document it, so save first. To add a skill directly instead, use player.addperk with the skill ID from the table above.

Can you use Starfield cheats on Xbox or PS5?

No. The console only exists in the PC versions (Steam, and the Microsoft Store or PC Game Pass on PC). Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 have no cheat codes.

Does player.setlevel give skill points?

The guides we read don’t say. Check your Skills menu after using it, and add points with the cgf command if they’re missing.

Why does the console say an ID is wrong?

Check you typed a zero rather than the letter O. If the ID came from an old list, it may be out of date. Look it up again with help "name" 4, which reads the IDs from the game you have installed.
