Resident Evil executive producer Jun Takeuchi told Yahoo Japan that the series' story wasn't planned from the start and grew with each game, and that a 10-year branding plan was drawn up while the Resident Evil 2 remake was being planned, IGN reports. 'With the release of Requiem this year, I feel like the first 10 years have come to a close, so I think the conclusion will come in the next 10 years,' he said, adding that 'there won't be just one' game before then but 'multiple titles.' He didn't describe any of them; the next confirmed release is the Code Veronica remake, due early next year.

Discord will start showing messages from big public servers in web search from mid-December
Discord says every Discoverable Server (public communities with at least 1,000 members that are eight weeks or older and meet activity and safety rules) gets a public Server Web Page from November 16, and from mid-December messages from their public channels will gradually start appearing on those pages and in web search results, without usernames or avatars. Admins can choose channels or opt out under Server Settings > Web Presence, and members can switch off 'Show my message content from Discoverable channels on web pages' under User Settings > Data and Privacy; that setting starts off by default in the EU, UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia and South Korea. DMs, group DMs, private servers and teen accounts are excluded, and messages sent before mid-December won't be shown.

Save Mass Effect fans fund billboards outside EA's offices and The Game Awards in about 20 minutes
A GoFundMe from the WeAreMassEffect fan campaign, run by Kala Elizabeth, Ariel and Mer, passed its $5,200 goal within about 20 minutes of launching on October 27, Destructoid reports, and showed $5,715 from 89 donations when we checked this evening, with donations now paused. Per the fundraiser page, the money pays for mobile billboards outside EA's headquarters, EA's Edmonton office and The Game Awards, on top of the $250 Times Square spot already bought, and anything left over goes to the UVW-CWA Game Worker Hardship Fund for laid-off developers in the US and Canada. It is the latest push from the fans behind the Change.org petition asking EA to continue Mass Effect or license it to another studio (see our petition explainer).

Korean ratings for 29 classic Capcom console games hint at a new collection
South Korea's Game Rating and Administration Committee has rated a batch of older Capcom titles, including Breath of Fire I and II, Demon's Crest, Final Fight 1 to 3, Mega Man 1 to 5, Mega Man X, Mega Man Soccer and Super Street Fighter II, Gematsu reported on October 27. Capcom has not announced anything, and the listings as reported name no platform, price or date; a console compilation (possibly on PS5) is speculation from outlets including Gematsu and Push Square.

Hasbro promotes ex-343 Industries studio head Dan Ayoub to run Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro Digital Games
Hasbro announced on October 27 that Dan Ayoub becomes President of Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro Digital Games on November 2, putting him in charge of Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, Duel Masters and digital projects such as Exodus and Warlock. Ayoub spent 11 years at Microsoft, including as an executive producer and studio head at Halo studio 343 Industries, then ran Certain Affinity before joining Wizards in 2022 and most recently leading D&D. Hasbro says he is the first internal candidate to be promoted into the job.

Moonlight Peaks, the vampire farming sim, comes to PS5 digitally on November 17 for $34.99
XSEED Games announced on October 27 that Little Chicken's Moonlight Peaks launches on PS5 on November 17 as a digital release for $34.99, with PS Plus members getting 20% off during launch week (November 17 to 23). The PS5 version includes all the quality-of-life updates released since the game's July 7 launch, and PS Plus Premium members get a two-hour trial whose progress carries over. The game is already out on Switch, Switch 2, Steam and Google Play Games, and XSEED says it has sold more than 300,000 copies.

Riot is granting the Rustiest Blitzcrank skin to League of Legends players who played at least 20 games of League Classic before October 21, 2026, and says it should appear in collections over the coming days. Amazon MGM reportedly takes international streaming rights to A24's Elden Ring movie
Amazon MGM has picked up the international pay-one streaming rights to A24's live-action Elden Ring film, the first streaming window after its cinema run, Deadline reports, in a deal its sources value at tens of millions of dollars. Neither company has announced it. Deadline also says A24 is letting international buyers read Alex Garland's script only with a staffer present, with some pages held back; the film is due in theaters and IMAX on March 3, 2028.

Epic plans to drop the Unreal Engine and MetaHuman rule against AI training on outputs
Epic CEO Tim Sweeney said on X that the current EULA does bar using Unreal Engine and MetaHuman outputs for AI training, but that Epic is 'working to remove this restriction' from its terms. He added that each game made with these tools ships under its developer's own terms, which can allow or restrict AI training. Epic has not published the revised EULA or given a date for the change, Game Developer reports.

GTA 6 is reportedly a 210GB download on PS5, but Rockstar hasn't confirmed it
GTA 6 will need about 210GB on PS5, according to the PlayStation Game Size tracker account on X, and Insider Gaming says it has verified the figure; Dexerto reported it today. This is not an official number: Rockstar has not announced a file size, and neither the PS5 nor the Xbox Series X|S requirement appears on Rockstar's pages yet, so treat it as unconfirmed until the store listings update before pre-load opens on November 12. GTA 6 launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Rockstar's UK developers will vote on union recognition from November 12 to 26, spanning GTA 6's launch
Rockstar Games workers in the UK will vote between November 12 and 26 on whether to establish a union with the Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain (IWGB), which means the ballot runs through GTA 6's November 19 release, Kotaku reports from a union press release. The union says it has been meeting Rockstar management since July over a recognition deal covering pay and bonuses, overtime, redundancies, flexible working and generative AI policy, after workers asked Rockstar to recognise it voluntarily before launch. Separately, the employment tribunal over the 31 union members Rockstar dismissed in October 2025, which Rockstar says was for gross misconduct, expects closing submissions on November 17 and 18.

WoW Forever will get major updates about every four months, Blizzard's lead designer says
World of Warcraft: Forever principal game designer Kris Zierhut told IGN the team is aiming for big content patches roughly every four months (about 17 weeks, or three a year), slower than the eight-week cycle of modern WoW. He said Season of Discovery's faster schedule felt too fast, while six to eight months without new content always feels bad, so smaller timed unlocks are planned between the major patches. Blizzard's BlizzCon roadmap puts Forever's first major update in spring 2027; the game launches next week.

Former Disco Elysium writers reveal Red Rooster, a physics-driven RPG
Summer Eternal, a Zagreb-based co-operative studio co-founded by ex-ZA/UM writers Argo Tuulik and Dora Klindžić, has revealed Red Rooster, which it calls a physics-driven RPG mixing a dense, dialogue-heavy world with immersive-sim systems. Players follow Redrick 'Rooster' Roost, an inmate offered a pardon to hunt a serial arsonist inside his brother's fire station during a heatwave on a 1980s Yugoslav-riviera-inspired archipelago. There is no release date; Game Rant reports the game is in early development, with PC first and PlayStation, Xbox and Switch planned later.

Funcom brings Aloft and Conan Exiles Enhanced to PS5 in early 2027
Funcom says Aloft, its co-op sky-island survival sandbox, makes its console debut on PS5 in early 2027 with every update from PC Early Access plus the 1.0 content. Conan Exiles Enhanced arrives on PS5 in the same window with upgraded visuals, a redesigned UI and the Legacy of the Giant-Kings story arc, and existing PlayStation owners of Conan Exiles get it free, with DLC and Bazaar items carrying over. Minecraft's Switch 2 edition is out now, and digital Switch owners can claim it free

Where Winds Meet adds its Hutuo Battlefield region on November 13 with the first-anniversary update
NetEase's open-world wuxia game gets Hutuo, a new war-torn frontier region with a climactic story arc against northern invaders, on November 13. The same anniversary update adds two board-game modes, Horse Racing Chess and Jianghu Tactics, and a Dual Spears martial art choreographed by Yuen Woo-ping follows in late November, according to the PlayStation Blog. A First Anniversary Special Broadcast on November 2 will show Hutuo gameplay.

Fortnite's One Piece mini-season, Treasure Hunters, gets its first trailer ahead of a November 1 start
Epic posted the Treasure Hunters trailer on Fortnite's official YouTube channel on October 27, with the line "The journey begins November 1!" Street Fighter V's online modes stay down as Capcom pulls it from sale over a PHP security issue
Capcom says online content in the PS4 and Steam versions of Street Fighter V is unavailable while it strengthens security around the PHP language the game's servers use, though offline modes still work. VGC reports Capcom is also suspending sales on the PlayStation Store and Steam in stages, and no return date has been given for either online play or the storefront listings.

Project Motor Racing is free on PS5 through November 1, no PS Plus needed
Straight4 Studios and Giants Software have opened the full base game of the sim racer to every PS5 player from October 26 (00:00 UTC) to November 1 (23:59 UTC), no PlayStation Plus required. Phantom Blade Zero's PC pre-load wants 300GB free, about double its 145GB install
S-GAME told PC players that Phantom Blade Zero is about 145GB but asked them to reserve at least 300GB of free space for the pre-load, which went live on October 27 at 02:00 UTC (October 26, 7 PM PDT); reports say the extra room is temporary while the files unpack, and the install drops back to about 145GB. The studio also recommends an SSD. The action game launches on PC and PS5 on October 29 at 02:00 UTC, and the PC version costs $59.99 on Steam.

Don't Nod's union says the Life is Strange studio is near insolvency as up to 85 French jobs face cuts
French games workers union STJV said on October 27 that Don't Nod's management pushed the company 'to the brink of insolvency' and that the layoff plan targets most of its roughly 140 Paris staff; the union's own partial list counts 61 roles cut. Don't Nod said last week that the Paris economic activities court accepted its request for a safeguard procedure, a French court process that freezes debts, and that up to 85 jobs in France could be affected. The company also warned there is significant uncertainty about continuing to operate beyond January 31, 2027 without new deals or funding.

Half-Life: Alyx adds a foveated rendering option for PC VR
Valve's October 26 update for Half-Life: Alyx adds a Foveated Rendering setting under Advanced Performance in the desktop version, which can boost performance on supported hardware. The patch also turns on stencil buffer tagging on Steam Frame to improve reprojection quality, fixes several rendering crashes in Workshop content, and fixes the 'Gnome Alone' achievement not unlocking for some players. It is a free update on Steam.

Kingdom Come studio Warhorse confirms it was hit by a cyberattack
Warhorse Studios said on October 27 that it has been hit by a cyberattack involving unauthorized access to its systems and internal data. The studio says it is working with cybersecurity specialists and the relevant authorities to secure its systems and determine the full extent of the breach. CEO Martin Frývaldský called it a serious incident and said Warhorse will share more information as soon as it can do so responsibly; the studio has not given further details.

Infinity Ward starts punishing Modern Warfare 4 DMZ players who abused item duplication
Infinity Ward says it is beginning to take enforcement action against accounts found exploiting item duplication issues in Modern Warfare 4's DMZ mode, according to a post on the CODUpdates account reported by Insider Gaming on October 27. The studio did not say what the penalties will be. The Call of Duty security and enforcement policy allows actions such as stat and inventory corrections, but Infinity Ward has not confirmed which ones it will use.

ARC Raiders update 2.3.0 adds the Souls Offering player project and retires the Expedition Vault
Embark released ARC Raiders Live Update 2.3.0 on October 27, headlined by Souls Offering, a new player project in which Celeste asks Speranza to pause and honor the fallen. The update closes the Expedition Vault: its contents move to players' stashes, and anyone who bought vault slots gets Bronze Statuettes. It also buffs the Heavy Shield (base charge 80 to 90) and Flame Spray (10 to 13 damage per second), adds camera filters, and fixes a long list of map, UI and stability bugs. Embark says fixes will now ship every three weeks and store updates every week.
Capcom's profit rises 54.5% in the first half as Resident Evil Requiem passes 8 million
Capcom reported net sales of 120.9 billion yen for the six months to September 30, 2026, up 49.0% on the year, with operating profit up 54.5% to 60.8 billion yen, in results published today. The company says Resident Evil Requiem has now passed 8 million units, Pragmata has topped 2.7 million since its April launch and Onimusha: Way of the Sword has passed 1.7 million. Capcom sold 36.86 million game units in the period, 32.18 million of them catalog titles, and says it is making steady progress toward its full-year forecast.

Acer's Predator Atlas 8 handheld comes to the US on November 1 for $1,299.99, only at Best Buy
Acer is bringing its first Predator gaming handheld to the US, with the Intel Arc G3 Extreme version of the Predator Atlas 8 priced at $1,299.99 and sold exclusively through Best Buy, according to The Verge and Android Authority. The Windows 11 device has an 8-inch 1920 x 1200 touchscreen with a 120Hz variable refresh rate and an 80Wh battery. Acer says the first round of pre-orders sold out last week, and online orders reopen on November 1, the same day it reaches stores.

Activision stays quiet on Modern Warfare 4 launch sales after first weekend
Activision has not shared sales figures or claimed any launch records for Modern Warfare 4 after its first full weekend, Kotaku notes, a contrast with past years such as Modern Warfare (2019), which it said made over $600 million in three days, and Modern Warfare II (2022), which passed $800 million in sell-through in the same span. The only big number so far is Xbox CEO Asha Sharma's statement that Call of Duty has topped $40 billion in lifetime revenue, which says nothing about MW4 itself. Microsoft's earnings call on October 28 may offer a clearer signal.
