Pokémon UNITE’s end of service is set for Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC, The Pokémon Company announced on the official UNITE site. The shutdown covers both the Nintendo Switch and the mobile (iOS and Android) versions. Aeos gem sales and new UNITE Club memberships stopped at 05:00 UTC today, October 27, 2026.
Before then, a November 12 update adds a coin exchange and a “library” that keeps part of the game viewable after shutdown, and the Aeos Crown 2027 tournament still goes ahead.

UNITE launched on Switch on July 21, 2021, and on mobile on September 22, 2021. The notice gives no reason for the closure. In July, the company had already pulled UNITE from the 2027 Pokémon World Championships and replaced it with a standalone event. As Eurogamer notes, the game had also already closed in Belgium and the Netherlands over loot-box concerns.
What happens to Aeos gems and UNITE Club
You can no longer buy Aeos gems, but any gems already in your account can still be spent until the servers close on March 23. UNITE Club, the monthly paid membership, takes no new sign-ups and has stopped auto-renewing. If you are a member now, your benefits run until the end of your current membership period, and then the membership simply ends.
Refunds: neither official notice mentions refunds for unused gems or other purchases. Anything left in your account when service ends is gone. If you have a billing question, the notice says Support can be contacted until March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC.

The November 12 farewell update
The update notice lists a new Unite Coin Exchange, where special Unite coins buy back items that have appeared in the game before: Unite licenses, Holowear, Trainer fashion, Unite snapshot items and more. You earn the coins from a log-in bonus and from missions, which pay one or more coins for each win in ranked and the other battle modes.
The library feature, explained
Eurogamer’s headline says you can still use the game afterwards, “sort of”. According to the official text, here is exactly what that means. From November 12, the library lets you view what you’ve collected: your Pokémon (with Holowear and license art you can switch), Trainer fashion in a Closet, Unite snapshot customization, and records of Trainer achievements, Pokémon achievements and tournament results. You can also enter the Practice Area to view moves and Holowear effects, and hide UI elements for photos. Battle items, held items and boost emblems are view-only.
What you can’t do after March 23 is log in or play battles. The library is a keepsake, not a playable offline mode.

How to make sure you keep it
- Download the library data before 00:00 UTC on March 23, 2027. It downloads when you play normally or open the library after November 12. Without that first download, you won’t have the library at all.
- Items and records you earn after the first download are added automatically.
- The library data generally can’t move to a new device, and if it’s deleted after shutdown it may not be recoverable. There is no support for it after service ends.
- The company recommends merging boost emblems and upgrading held items before shutdown, since they are view-only in the library.
Aeos Crown 2027 and esports
Competitive UNITE gets one last event. Registration opened today for most regions. Online qualifiers run from December 5. The offline finals in Tokyo, on March 20-21, 2027, have 32 teams playing a group stage and then single elimination, all under an “All-Star Draft” rule. There are no spectator seats, but every match will stream on official channels. The finals end two days before the servers close.

On March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC. That is 5:00 PM PDT on March 22 in the US, midnight in the UK, and 9:00 AM on March 23 in Japan.
Can I still play Pokémon UNITE until then?
Yes. Battles, events and spending existing gems all work until shutdown. Only gem sales and new UNITE Club memberships have stopped.
Will Pokémon UNITE work offline after it closes?
Only the library, and only if you downloaded its data before shutdown. Matches and log-ins end on March 23.
