Make money fast in Two Point Museum: ticket pricing, donation stands, Gift Shop and sponsorships, plus Rides & Relics Thrill, coaster and Ride Ribbon tips.

The fastest way to make money in Two Point Museum is to stack several income streams at once: ticket prices raised in small steps, donation stands next to high-Buzz exhibits, a staffed Gift Shop on the busiest route, and guests who reach their “dream visit”. If you own the Rides & Relics DLC, rides add ticket income and a new stat, Thrill, that keeps guests in the museum longer. This guide is checked against the current PC build, 12.0.244870 (October 19, 2026).

Quick answer

  • Raise ticket prices gradually in Finances > Prices, and stop when guest feedback says the price is no longer worth it.
  • Put donation stands beside your best exhibits. Clean, decorated, high-Buzz exhibits attract the biggest donations, and Security Guards empty the stands.
  • Build a Gift Shop early, give it two tills so it never closes, and price items up toward fair value.
  • Chase dream visits, but know the kids’ bonus was cut from 10,000 to 1,000 in Update 2.0. Older guides still quote the bugged figure.
  • Take sponsorships and exhibit showcase offers. They pay out when you meet their goals.
  • Rides & Relics: rides earn ticket income, and Thrill makes guests stay longer, which also raises donations and Gift Shop spend. Keep rides maintained, or the Department of Amusement will hold back Ride Ribbons.

How to make money fast in Two Point Museum: every income source

No single trick carries a museum. The table below lists every revenue stream and the lever that moves it most, with the source for each claim. Where only one guide or player reports a mechanic, it’s labeled that way.

Income source What boosts it Source
Entry tickets Small price increases while guest feedback stays positive; raise again as the museum improves Hardcore Gamer, Dexerto
Donation stands Placing them next to clean, well-decorated, high-Buzz exhibits; guards collect the money Two Point Studios, Dexerto
Gift Shop A fully stocked shop on a busy route, two tills, and prices nudged toward “Fair Value” Steam community (player reports)
Cafeteria and vending A cafeteria over vending machines: one player reports about 150 per meal versus 6 for a vending snack Steam community (one player)
Dream visits Meeting each guest type’s goals; child guests now donate 1,000 Update 2.0 patch notes
Guided tours A charismatic Expert leading a short, cohesive route Two Point Studios
Sponsorships and showcases Finances > Sponsorship tab, plus showcase offers whose goals you meet Dexerto
Sushi Bar (Dave the Diver rift) Guests served sushi get Buzz and then make a special donation Update 10.0 patch notes
Rides (Rides & Relics) Ride tickets, with Thrill extending guest stays Two Point Studios

Set ticket prices in small steps

Open Finances, then the Prices tab. From there you can change the entry ticket, the vending machines and Gift Shop items. Hardcore Gamer’s beginner tips call tickets one of the best ways to make money, and recommend starting low, raising the price a few at a time and watching the feedback at the ticket booth. Dexerto adds a useful limit: only push prices once the museum has the reputation to back them up, such as after your first star.

A good price doesn’t stay good forever. Each new exhibit and decoration raises the perceived value of a visit, so check the Prices tab again after every expansion. Build 12.0.244870 fixed a crash when moving between the Prices tab’s sub-tabs, so update the game before you do a big repricing pass.

Put donation stands next to high-Buzz exhibits

Two Point Studios’ own June 2026 free-weekend post says it plainly: exhibits with the highest Buzz, meaning top quality, plenty of info and good decorations, attract the most donations. So place donation stands where guests stop for those exhibits, not in corridors. Decorations around an exhibit raise its Buzz, and Hardcore Gamer suggests the Duration Boost perk where guests tend to turn back, since longer visits lead to more donations.

Two details matter here. First, Security Guards empty donation stands: Update 2.0 fixed a bug where they didn’t. Make sure your guards’ zones cover the stands. Second, a later hotfix (6.0.201550) fixed guests who stopped donating after a certain Buzz level, so on a current build Buzz keeps paying off.

The 10,000 child donation is gone

Early 2025 guides and forum posts often say kids pay a 10,000 donation once you build five interactive exhibits. That figure was a bug. Update 2.0 “removed an extra zero on child guest dream visit donations, which was mistakenly set to 10,000. They now donate 1,000 when their dream visit is achieved,” according to the patch notes. Dream visits are still worth chasing: players in the Steam forums report that meeting each guest type’s goals (Professors want Knowledge, for example) is still a reliable source of large donations. They’re just no longer a shortcut on their own.

Gift Shop, food and comfort

The Gift Shop is the income source players mention most often. In that Steam thread, one experienced player recommends building a fully stocked shop early, staffing it with two Assistants so it never closes, and raising prices gradually toward the “Fair Value” rating. Update 12.0 also added a new Guest Inspector tab that shows each guest’s Gift Shop preferences, so you no longer need the sticker book to see what they’ll buy. That makes it easier to decide what to stock.

For food, the same player reports that a cafeteria with at least three family tables earned about 150 per meal, against about 6 for a vending snack. It needs one or two more Assistants, so build it once you can carry the wages. Comfort comes before any of that, though. Dexerto rates scattered benches as the cheapest comfort upgrade, and bins near vending machines keep litter from lowering guest mood.

Sponsorships, showcases and tours

Two free payouts are easy to miss. Sponsorships are in the Sponsorship tab of the Finances menu. Exhibit showcase offers arrive at random and pay out if you meet their goals while the item is on display. Dexerto suggests keeping a ready-made corner with an info stand, a donation stand and some decorations, so each new showcase item drops straight in.

Guided tours, led by one of your Experts on a custom route, raise guest experience and Buzz and lead to more donations, according to Two Point Studios. The studio’s own advice is to keep tour exhibits cohesive and the route short, because guests tire if a tour runs too long.

Cut costs before you borrow

Money troubles usually come from spending, not from too little income. Expeditions are the biggest drain, and the Rides & Relics review at The Phrasemaker notes they can empty your account quickly. Pause expeditions and marketing first if the balance is falling. Check the staff list too: players suggest sorting by status and letting go of surplus staff who sit “Available”. If you do need a loan, Hardcore Gamer points to Two Point Bank’s 1% offer as the cheapest one, and forum players advise repaying the first loan before taking another.

Rides & Relics tips: making the funfair pay

Rides & Relics is the game’s fourth paid DLC and its biggest so far. It adds a funfair location, custom coasters and a five-star campaign. Here are the facts that matter before you build.

Rides & Relics Details (checked October 27, 2026 UTC)

Free taster Update 12.0: Act 1 of the campaign, the first plot of Riquetti Gardens, the first five Points of Interest on Gearbox Fairgrounds and the Monobeast Monorail coaster (PC, PS5 and Xbox on October 1; Switch 2 on October 12)
Unlock The campaign opens after you complete Memento Mile Act 1; everything is in sandbox mode from the start
New location Riquetti Gardens, the largest museum so far: 45,136 sq m, 11,284 tiles, 6 plots
Content Five custom coaster themes, 17+ Funfair exhibits, Funfair Experts, mascots, five new achievements

The taster is not a demo. Two Point Studios’ official FAQ says everything from the first five POIs stays in your base game, so it’s worth playing even if you never buy the DLC.

Thrill is the money stat

Funfair exhibits give Buzz and Knowledge like any other exhibit, plus a new stat, Thrill. In the studio’s launch post, Thrill “will increase your guests’ desire to stay in the museum,” which helps “ride tickets, donations, and Gift Shop spend”. In practice, a ride does more than sell tickets: it keeps guests near your donation stands and shop for longer. Put rides next to exhibits and shops rather than in a separate fairground at the edge of the map.

Several rides also boost a museum theme. The FAQ names the Carousel, whose “Wildlife Ride” trait raises Buzz for Wildlife exhibits, and the Magnetic Enlightener, a Science ride. Match rides to the exhibits you already own and they earn twice: once at the gate and again through exhibit Buzz.

Build coasters for Buzz without too much Ferocity

Coasters show their ratings while you build them, and the job is balancing Buzz against Ferocity, The Phrasemaker’s review says. The 12.0.244617 patch notes confirm the rule both ways: rides now give Nausea when they should, and stop guests from boarding when Ferocity is too high. A coaster that’s too fierce loses riders, and its tickets with them. Start with the gentle Monobeast Monorail for the less thrill-seeking guests, and add steeper steel coaster layouts once you can read the ratings. One building quirk from the FAQ: the Steeple Chase coaster can’t use chain lifts and has to rely on boost rails.

Maintenance, Ride Ribbons and mascots

  • Keep rides maintained (“spannered”). The Department of Amusement awards Ride Ribbons and certificates, which come with perks. The studio warns it’s “a tricky bunch”, so keep rides maintained and puddles mopped. The studio’s job advert lists ride maintenance as a Funfair Expert skill, so have enough of them before you add more rides.
  • Use mascots in ride queues. Mascot costumes turn Assistants into characters. According to Two Point Studios, every mascot improves guests’ patience in ride queues and has its own effect. For example, the FAQ says the Pickledocus raises Buzz from Prehistory exhibits.
  • Unlock the Mascot POIs early. Unlocking the Mascot Booth in the first star of Riquetti Gardens opens a mascot Point of Interest on each expedition map. Some, like Wetter World in Two Point Sea, give perks that usually come only from exhibit analysis.
  • Start small. Riquetti Gardens is huge. Fill the first plot with paying rides and amenities before you buy land, because, as noted above, expeditions and expansion eat cash fast.
