AC Black Flag Resynced’s final big update, 1.0.8, lands Oct 27 at 14:00 UTC on PS5, Xbox and PC with New Game+ up to NG+5, Nightmare mode and new takedowns.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced gets its final major content update today, October 27: Title Update 1.0.8 goes live at 14:00 UTC (10:00 AM ET, 7:00 AM PT) on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it’s free for everyone who owns the game. The headline additions are New Game+ (up to five extra runs), a Nightmare difficulty, returning takedown animations from the 2013 original, and a batch of hidden community chests.

Ubisoft confirmed the time and the full change list in its official 1.0.8 patch notes and an Ubisoft News post. After this, the team plans only smaller quality-of-life updates “over the coming months.”

How New Game+ works in Black Flag Resynced

New Game+ restarts Edward Kenway’s story while keeping almost everything you earned. According to the patch notes, these carry over: Edward’s tools, upgrades, weapons and trinkets; all Jackdaw upgrades, officer abilities and pets; money, materials and trade goods; unlocked outfits; Hideout progression, perks and the art collection; every Kenway Fleet ship; codex items, including treasure maps; and store purchases.

What resets: story progress, active quests, quest items and the map fog, so forts have to be captured again. Officers also leave the ship and must be recruited again, and while your Jackdaw and Hideout upgrades stay, you regain access to both through the story.

You can go up to NG+5, and each cycle gets harder: Ubisoft says Elite Soldiers show up more often and max-rank ships start patrolling. NG+ also adds a new currency, Escudos, earned from challenges and from looting chests you already opened. You can also exchange Reales for Escudos at the General Store, and spend them on outfits and items sold only in NG+.

Nightmare difficulty: what changes

Nightmare is a new setting, and you can pick it separately for combat, stealth, naval combat and activities. You can turn it on at any point in the story, and you don’t need to finish the game first. The patch notes list:

  • Ground combat: enemies deal 1.8x damage, the parry window is shorter, the white glint warning before enemy attacks is gone, ranged enemies fire more often, and the one-shot safety is off, so a single bullet or explosive can kill Edward even at high health.
  • Stealth: enemies spot you much faster and search for longer, they hear you moving faster than a walk, and high hiding spots only work 6 m above an enemy (up from 4 m).
  • Naval: all ship damage is increased.
  • Activities: sharks and harpooned wildlife hit harder, urchin and jellyfish damage is doubled, and oxygen runs out faster.

Takedowns, cosmetics and hidden community chests

The update brings back takedown animations from the original Black Flag, including hidden blade, unarmed, single-sword and gunblade takedowns. Ubisoft News says they trigger at random and can’t be assigned. There are new outfits, sails, trinkets, crew customization options and pet skins, many of them earned through NG+. Ubisoft News says there are six new hidden community chests, and the developers say they won’t give hints for finding them.

The patch also fixes a long list of bugs: the game can now start in Offline Mode after losing its server connection, a freeze during tavern board games is fixed, and soft locks in quests such as “This Tyro Captain” and “We Demand a Parley” are gone. There are also more rogue waves during storms.

Black Flag Resynced launched on July 9, 2026. For more from the series, see our report on the cancelled Assassin’s Creed Destiny leak, our Assassin’s Creed Mirage tips, and the latest on Ubisoft’s RedLynx and Singapore cuts.

What’s next

Ubisoft’s weekly roadmap post says Assassin’s Creed head of content Jean Guesdon will give a franchise update on Thursday, October 29. The post adds that there “won’t be any major reveals.” For Black Flag Resynced itself, 1.0.8 is the last big drop, and only quality-of-life patches are planned after it.
