Some GTA 6 fans call the launch trailer a blurry downgrade from the first trailer

Side-by-side clips comparing Grand Theft Auto 6's launch trailer, released October 15, with the 2023 reveal and the second trailer are circulating on X, with some players calling the newer footage hazy and a "downgrade," Kotaku reports. Kotaku's Lewis Parker argues the softness looks like a blur-style image filter rather than weaker graphics, and suggests it may be a setting players can switch off, pointing to similar filters in Red Dead Redemption 2. Kotaku's report includes no comment from Rockstar.

Sakurai: Smash Bros. likely wouldn't have shipped as a standard one-on-one fighter

In an interview with Denfaminico Gamer, Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai said that if the first Smash had followed ordinary fighting-game rules (one-on-one, guarding, special moves and a health bar that ends in a KO), he doesn't think it would have been released at all, and if it had, it would probably have been treated as a novelty. He also predicted AI will push the number of new game releases even higher, but said most of those games will be unprofitable copies of systems already seen elsewhere.

Sony patent describes frame generation that reads your controller inputs

A new Sony patent filing titled "Generation Super Sampling" (US-20260320740-A1) describes AI frame generation that builds in-between frames from rendered ones while also using controller input to predict motion, with the stated aim of reducing latency and hitching, IGN reports. Drunken Goddess Reflux developer cancels its public demo, citing fears of AI-made clones

Alliance Arts has cancelled the public demo of Drunken Goddess Reflux that was due on October 19 and will hold closed online play sessions for a limited number of applicants instead, the studio said on X. It gave two reasons: its team couldn't enforce planned limits on posting and streaming footage, and it worried the demo could be used to quickly imitate the game "with AI or other tools" and release a copy before launch. Rock Paper Shotgun, which spotted the post, points to a recent surge in fast AI-generated copycats on Steam.
