The game went live on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at 22:00 UTC. The developer’s launch post says it “has officially launched on 2026/10/28 22:00 (UTC)”. That was 10 PM in the UK and 11 PM in Central Europe on October 28, and 7 AM in Japan and 9 AM in Sydney on October 29. That’s why the official site and the September 29 date announcement both say October 29. For a full time-zone table, see the launch section of our beginner guide.

Monster Hunter Outlanders is a different game from Scopely’s location-based Monster Hunter Now. It’s a full open-world hunting game set on a new island called Aesoland, with solo or four-player squad hunts and gear crafted from monster materials, like the console games. If you’re following Capcom’s console side too, see our Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 demo guide.

Is Monster Hunter Outlanders available in my country? Level Infinite vs Garena

There are two separate versions of the game on the stores, and which one you see depends on your country. Both are free, list the same languages and launched the same day. We looked up both App Store listings country by country between 16:59 and 17:03 UTC on October 29:

Version (App Store seller) Listed in (as checked) Servers
Level Infinite / Proxima Beta (global) United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Japan, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Poland, Turkey North America, Japan, Europe
Garena Online Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, UAE, Saudi Arabia, South Africa Garena’s own (see Garena’s channels)
Neither version Mainland China (official: 2027 onward). We also found no App Store listing in India, Vietnam or Belgium at check time. –

The global launch notes say server data “is independent and cannot be transferred between regions”. Pocket Gamer reports that Garena and Level Infinite accounts are separate as well. So start on the version and server your friends use, because co-op squads and guilds are a big part of the launch events. If your store shows “not available in your country”, you’re on a store region neither publisher has listed yet. Watch the official channels for news rather than side-loading a build from another region.

What happened to the pre-registration rewards?

Pre-registration is over now that the game is out. The rewards were global milestones: each tier unlocks for everyone once the worldwide count passes it, and the developer said it would send them in-game after launch. Here’s where each milestone ended up, going by the official posts:

Milestone Reward Reached?
5 million pre-registrations 5 Standard Contracts + 5,000 Zenny Yes (passed by mid-September, PocketGamer.biz)
10 million pre-registrations Adventurer Raya (Dual Blades, Disruptor) Yes (official, Oct 18, at 13 million)
15 million pre-registrations 5 Standard Contracts + 20 Primeberry Yes (official, Oct 27)
20 million pre-registrations 5 Standard Contracts + 20 Aqua Dew No official announcement found as of Oct 29
2 million social media followers 5 Standard Contracts No official announcement found as of Oct 29

The pre-registration counts include mainland Chinese sign-ups and email registrations, the official posts note. On top of the milestones, the developer added 5 Featured Contracts after the game hit No. 1 on the App Store free games charts in several markets. You claim those from the in-game mailbox once you reach Adventurer Level 4. The launch events give far more than pre-registration did (dozens of Standard and Featured Contracts plus free Adventurers), and our beginner guide has the full launch rewards table.

All Monster Hunter Outlanders characters (Adventurers) at launch

Your main character is the Fated Adventurer, a customizable protagonist who can use every weapon type and switch between all three roles. You can also recruit fixed Adventurers, each with a set weapon, a role and a skill twist. The official site lists 13 at launch. Four are new since our first version of this post: Rhodes, Haze, Ryunosuke and Luxheart. Here’s each one and the confirmed way to get them:

Adventurer Weapon Class How to get (official launch notes)
Raya Dual Blades Disruptor Free: 10 million pre-registration reward
Pyro Great Sword Assault Free SSR: Adventurer’s Chronicles event (permanent)
Luka Bow Assault Free SSR: Surging Lightning event (permanent)
Ryunosuke Long Sword Support Free SR: Rank Rush (Adventurer Rank rewards)
Luxheart Great Sword Disruptor Free SR: Rank Rush (Adventurer Rank rewards)
Midori Long Sword Assault SSR featured banner until Nov 27, 02:59 UTC; won’t join Standard Recruitment later
Rhodes Hammer Assault SSR rotating banner until Nov 27, 02:59 UTC; also in Standard Recruitment
Haze Dual Blades Support Recruitment
Keres Dual Blades Disruptor Recruitment
Arkaya Lance Support Recruitment
Ouyang Varen Lance Assault Recruitment
Madelyn Bow Support Recruitment
Pepper Heavy Bowgun Disruptor Recruitment

Their playstyles, in short, from the official site: Pyro endures hits to fuel burst damage. Keres chains rapid follow-up combos. Luka’s Thunder Coating arrows pierce. Arkaya spends Resolve on a big hit plus a large shield. Raya dodges to fill her Demon Gauge. Ouyang Varen is a guard-focused Lance. Madelyn buffs allies with Spores. Midori builds a Spirit Gauge. Pepper fires from midair. The new four: Rhodes’s charged Hammer attacks build energy for an explosion. Haze can parry in Archdemon Mode. Ryunosuke eats mid-fight to power his Spirit Blade. Luxheart switches Great Sword stances with Heat.

The store listings now confirm eight weapon types: Great Sword, Long Sword, Dual Blades, Hammer, Lance, Charge Blade, Heavy Bowgun and Bow. Charge Blade joined after the betas. Producer Dong Huang told Pocket Tactics that bringing in all 14 classic weapon types is the long-term plan, with new Adventurers “with every major content update”. For which weapon to start with, see the weapons section of our beginner guide.

Is Monster Hunter Outlanders a gacha game?

Yes, but only for Adventurers. Weapons and armor are still crafted from monster parts, the classic Monster Hunter loop, and the Fated Adventurer never has to be pulled (Pocket Gamer). The launch notes list four banners at launch: Beginner’s Recruitment (up to 50 pulls with Standard Contracts, 20% off 10-pulls, an SSR guaranteed within 50), Standard Recruitment, and two limited SSR banners for Midori and Rhodes. The developer says the first season alone hands out enough recruitment items for “more than 400 recruits”. For how the contracts and the premium currency work, see our beginner guide’s gacha section.

Monsters, Buddies and regions at launch

  • Ruger Aidal: the flagship monster, an original Elder Dragon with a golden, sun-like look that is central to the story of the “Second Sun”.
  • Radiant species: Radiantite-corrupted versions of familiar monsters. The official site lists Radiant Rathian, Radiant Anjanath, Radiant Diablos, Radiant Kulu-Ya-Ku and Radiant Rathalos.
  • Returning monsters: Rathalos and Pink Rathian are on the official site. The Tokyo Game Show 2026 trailer also showed Azure Rathalos, Great Girros, Legiana and Nergigante, according to PocketGamer.biz.
  • Buddies: the Palico returns, alongside two companion types native to Aesoland. Rutaco build with tools and Radiantite, and Trillan support you with their voices. The first season’s events also give the SSR Buddy Kojiro, according to the official season preview.
  • Regions: the Giantwood Locale forest and the Searing Plains desert from the betas, plus two new launch regions, the Grand Archipelago and the Rotfall Abyss (confirmed in the Pocket Tactics interview).

Is Monster Hunter Outlanders on PC? Controller support

No PC version exists at launch. Both publishers’ store listings are mobile-only, and the official site lists “Supported Platforms: iOS / Android”. Pocket Gamer notes that Android emulators such as BlueStacks, LDPlayer and MuMu exist, but the developer doesn’t support them and they may run into interface problems. Read the game’s terms before you try one.

Controllers are supported. Players asked for gamepad support during the closed betas, and the official website now lists “Controller Support: Yes”. Our older guide to pairing a PS4 or other controller with Android and iOS covers the Bluetooth setup.

Downloading it now: what to know first

  1. Get the right version for your country from the App Store or Google Play (see the region table above).
  2. Free up space: about 20 GB on iPhone or 16 GB on Android for the full client, plus a little extra for unpacking.
  3. Download all resources before you go to the mailbox. The launch notes say you need them to claim the in-game rewards.
  4. Pick a server where your friends play. Progress can’t be moved between regions.
  5. Only redeem codes from official channels (@MHO_English on X, the in-game announcements and the official Discord).
