Modern Warfare 4 (Oct 23), Final Fantasy Resonance and Peak (Oct 22) lead next week’s releases. Dates, platforms, prices and Game Pass status in one table.

The biggest new games next week are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on October 23 and Final Fantasy Resonance on October 22, with Peak, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort and co-op puzzler We Were Here Tomorrow also landing between Monday, October 19 and Friday, October 23. Xbox Wire’s weekly “Next Week on Xbox” post lists 27 games for Xbox; we checked the biggest against PlayStation, Nintendo and Steam store pages to show where else they launch.

One thing to know before you plan around Game Pass: none of the games below shows up in Microsoft’s “Coming to Game Pass” list (checked October 16, 15:00 UTC), and Activision confirmed on October 15 that Modern Warfare 4 won’t join Game Pass until Holiday 2027.

The big three: Modern Warfare 4, Final Fantasy Resonance and Peak

Modern Warfare 4 is the week’s headline. Digital pre-orders already unlock the campaign through Early Access (from October 16), DMZ Early Access opens on October 20, and the full game with multiplayer launches on October 23. The PlayStation Store lists 04:00 UTC on October 23, which is the evening of October 22 in the Americas. Our Modern Warfare 4 early access and preload guide has the edition prices and the full schedule. Game Pass Ultimate keeps Black Ops 7, Black Ops 6 and Modern Warfare III, but not MW4.

Final Fantasy Resonance is the first Final Fantasy built in Square Enix’s HD-2D pixel-art style, with airships, crystals, espers and moogles on the menu. It costs $49.99 on every store we checked, with a $59.99 Digital Deluxe Edition on PlayStation and Nintendo, and a free demo is already on the PlayStation Store and Steam. On Xbox it’s an Xbox Play Anywhere title, so one purchase covers console and PC.

Peak, the co-op climbing hit from 2025, arrives on PS5, Xbox and Switch 2 on October 22 at 8 AM PT with crossplay. It isn’t on Xbox Wire’s list yet, and console prices still haven’t been announced. Our Peak console release guide has the release time in every region.

Also worth a look next week

  • Nintendo Switch Sports Resort (Oct 22): a Switch 2 exclusive with 12 motion-control sports, including bowling, basketball and skateboarding, for 1-4 players, per Nintendo’s store page.
  • We Were Here Tomorrow (Oct 20): the next two-player co-op puzzle game from Total Mayhem Games. It’s set in a research facility under the Antarctic ice, and the studio calls it the series’ biggest entry at around 15 hours, according to its launch announcement.
  • Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest (Oct 22-23): an action-adventure set in the Lake Territories from the book series, with turn-based battles against rival Clans. A $39.99 Feral Edition is listed on the Nintendo eShop.
  • Horror for October: Xbox also gets Dreadway (four-player co-op survival horror with proximity voice chat, Oct 22), House 2 (Oct 23) and FIRE AND ASHES (Oct 23). Our cozy Halloween games list has gentler picks.

Free things to try before you buy: the Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 demo lands on October 19, and Steam Next Fest runs from October 19 to 26 (see our free games this weekend roundup).

What’s next

Xbox Wire hasn’t posted a second wave of October Game Pass games yet, so watch for that announcement in case one of these games is added. Release dates can still change. We’ll update this post if a date slips or if Peak’s console prices go live before October 22.
