Epic has now published the Fortnite Pirate Token drop rate: 1 in 137,500 per chest. The Pirate Shop Access token, which makes the Item Shop free for 14 days, is the second-rarest treasure this season. Only the Weekly Gold Outfit is rarer, at 1 in 1,562,500. Epic’s @FortniteStatus account posted the full table over the November 7-8 weekend, and said Treasure Hours raise the token’s odds.
Checked November 8, 2026, 13:43 UTC against the outlet reports linked below. We could not load Epic’s X post itself, so the wording and numbers come from Beebom and VICE, who both quote it and agree with each other.

Quick answer: what is the Pirate Token drop rate?
- Normal odds: 1 in 137,500 per chest opened, about 0.00073% per chest.
- During Treasure Hours: 1.5x, which works out to about 1 in 91,667. The second round on November 7 (9-11 PM ET) reached 2x, about 1 in 68,750, according to Beebom and VICE.
- Outside Treasure Hours: Epic says treasure drop rates from chests have been constant since the season launched and don’t vary through the day.
- Where it drops: in chests, “just like other items”, in the Treasure Hunters Battle Royale island.
- No repeats: other than Gizmos, you can’t get the same treasure twice.

Every Treasure Hunters chest drop rate
Epic’s table covers seven rewards. These are the standard odds per chest opened, as quoted by Beebom and VICE. The last column is our own math (see the next section for how we worked it out).
| Treasure | Odds per chest | Chests for a 50% chance (ours) |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly Gold Outfit | 1 in 1,562,500 | about 1.08 million |
| Pirate Shop Access (the Pirate Token) | 1 in 137,500 | about 95,300 |
| Weekly Vehicle and Decal | 1 in 7,813 | about 5,400 |
| Weekly Pickaxe or Back Bling | 1 in 568 | about 390 |
| Weekly Jam Track | 1 in 391 | about 270 |
| Weekly Loading Screen | 1 in 272 | about 190 |
| Any Gizmo | 1 in 127 | about 88 |
The Pirate Token is the reward we explain in our Pirate Shop Access guide: one 14-day window of free V-Bucks Item Shop items in 2026 and another in 2027, activated from the Item Shop.
What 1 in 137,500 means in practice
Epic gave the rate per chest, not per match. If every chest is an independent roll at that rate (our assumption: Epic didn’t spell out the mechanics, and it also hasn’t said how many chests a typical match holds), the chance of finding at least one token after opening a number of chests is 1 minus (1 minus the rate) raised to that number. Here is what that gives, with the Treasure Hours boosts from the next section:
| Chests opened | Normal (1x) | Treasure Hours 1.5x | 2x boost round |
|---|---|---|---|
| 150 | 0.11% | 0.16% | 0.22% |
| 1,000 | 0.72% | 1.08% | 1.44% |
| 10,000 | 7.0% | 10.3% | 13.5% |
| 50,000 | 30.5% | 42.0% | 51.7% |
| 100,000 | 51.7% | 66.4% | 76.7% |
| 137,500 | 63.2% | 77.7% | 86.5% |
Two things stand out. First, even a 2x boost doesn’t change the picture: you would still need roughly 47,700 chests for an even chance. Second, opening more chests never “guarantees” the token. Past 137,500 chests you still have about a 37% chance of not having it. Our earlier report said the first player to win it opened about 150 chests (per Dexerto), which is a roughly 1-in-900 stroke of luck by this math.

How much do Treasure Hours boost the Pirate Token?
Epic’s post lists these boosts for Treasure Hours, as reported by Beebom:
| Treasure | Treasure Hours boost | Odds with the boost (ours) |
|---|---|---|
| Pirate Shop Access | 1.5x (2x in the second Nov 7 round) | about 1 in 91,667 (1 in 68,750 at 2x) |
| Weekly Gold Outfit | 7.5x | about 1 in 208,333 |
| Weekly Vehicle and Decal | 10x | about 1 in 781 |
Sources differ on one detail. Beebom says the Weekly Gold Outfit stayed at 7.5x in the evening round, while VICE reports 10x for that round (about 1 in 156,250). Both say the token reached 2x. Beebom adds that Epic may change the boosts from time to time during Treasure Hours.
Epic’s own event post for the first Treasure Hours, which we read on the Epic Fortnite Communities page, only promised Fortune Sprites, the Shock Rocket and a Self Revive. It said nothing about treasure odds, and players were asking in the replies whether the token chances went up. The odds table and boost list came later, in the @FortniteStatus post.
When are the next Treasure Hours?
Treasure Hours run on Saturdays this season. The first ones were November 7, 2-4 PM ET and 9-11 PM ET (19:00 UTC and 02:00 UTC Sunday). VICE lists the same two windows for November 14, 21 and 28, plus December 5, with a 1.5x token boost in both rounds, citing a Fortnite Status schedule post. We couldn’t read that post, so treat those dates as reported, not confirmed. Our Fortnite Treasure Hours page has the time-zone table and rolls forward every week.
What this means for hunting the token
- Only Treasure Hours change the odds. By Epic’s own wording, the rate is constant the rest of the time, so there is no stated hour or match type that is luckier.
- Chests refill. Epic’s Treasure Hunters season post says chests now refill over time, so you can open them again after a while.
- Treat it as a lottery. The same chests also hold the weekly cosmetics and Gizmos, which are far more likely (see the table above).
- Don’t pay anyone for a “method”. Epic’s numbers give every chest the same chance.
- Check the map first. Our vault locations guide and map fragment guide cover the other treasure on the island, and the Treasure Hunters season guide has the weekly schedule.
If you do land the token, check today’s Item Shop before you activate it, since the 14 days only start when you press the button.
