Fortnite’s rare Pirate Shop Access makes V-Bucks Item Shop items free for 14 days, twice. Epic’s in-game rules, the Dec 15 deadline and how players find it.

Fortnite’s new Pirate Shop Access reward lets a lucky player claim anything sold for V-Bucks in the Item Shop for free for 14 days, and it does that twice: once in 2026 and once in 2027. It arrived with the Treasure Hunters update (v43.00) on November 1 on all platforms. Epic’s own in-game text sets the limits: no real-money offers, no gifting, no pass levels or rewards, and only one free Sidekick.

Epic hasn’t announced the reward in its patch notes or on its official X accounts. Everything below about the reward itself comes from Epic’s in-game screens, which the first player to win it posted on X at 08:53 UTC on November 1. How to find it comes from outlet reports, and we say which outlet reported each detail.

What Fortnite Pirate Shop Access does

When you get it, a “Pirate Shop Access Unlocked!” screen appears after the match. It reads:

“Plunder the Fortnite Item Shop – twice! Activate the Pirate Shop once in 2026 and once in 2027. Each time, you can claim anything sold for V-Bucks in the Fortnite Item Shop for free for 14 days from activation. Real money offers, gifting and passes levels/rewards are excluded, and you can only claim one free sidekick you do not already own. This treasure is not transferable.”

Detail What the in-game text says
Activations Two: one in 2026, one in 2027
Length 14 days from when you activate
What’s free Anything sold for V-Bucks in the Item Shop
Excluded Real-money offers, gifting, pass levels and pass rewards
Sidekicks One free Sidekick you don’t already own
2026 deadline Activate by December 15, 2026, 6 PM GMT-6 (7 PM ET, 00:00 UTC December 16)
Trading Not transferable

The player’s clip also shows a “Plunder the Shop” tile in the Item Shop with that December 15 deadline. After activation it changes to “Plundering!” with an end time exactly 14 days later, and shop items show as FREE. In the clip, the player claims the One Piece bundle with Luffy, Nami and Usopp. Polygon priced that bundle at 4,000 V-Bucks. Polygon also says items you claim stay in your Locker after the 14 days end. The in-game text doesn’t give dates for the 2027 activation.

How to get Pirate Shop Access in Fortnite

Dexerto, VICE and Polygon all report that it’s a rare random reward from opening Chests in Battle Royale on the new Treasure Hunters island. Polygon and Beebom call these Treasure Hunt Chests. They can also give Gizmos or cosmetics.

  • Odds: Epic hasn’t published them. The first winner, X user snowslept, said on X that it came from an ordinary-looking Chest in a normal Solos match, after opening about 150 Chests (as reported by Dexerto).
  • Activation: open the Item Shop, select the “Plunder the Shop” tile, and activate when you’re ready. The 14 days only start when you press activate, not when you find it.

Epic’s in-game screen also tells winners to “protect your plunder” by turning on two-factor authentication at fn.gg/2FA. That’s worth doing, because the reward can’t be moved to another account.

When to activate it

Because the window is only 14 days, timing matters. Epic’s Treasure Hunters announcement lists the season’s Shop arrivals:

  • November 1: Monkey D. Luffy, Nami and Usopp
  • November 5, 7 PM ET: A$AP Rocky
  • November 7: Zoro, Sanji and the Chopper Sidekick
  • November 12: Lil Uzi Vert
  • November 13: Buggy
  • November 14: Kasane Teto and Cap’n Hatsune Miku

A window that starts on November 5 runs to November 19 and covers every arrival on that list. But because of the Sidekick limit, Chopper uses up your one free Sidekick. Shop rotations change daily, so check our Fortnite Item Shop today page before you activate.
