Peak climbs onto PS5, Xbox and Switch 2 on October 22 at 8 AM PT with crossplay and all updates. Release times, physical edition and what we know on price.

Peak, the co-op climbing game that took over Steam in 2025, launches on PS5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2 on Thursday, October 22, with crossplay included. Team PEAK confirmed the date on the PlayStation Blog and in a Steam announcement on October 15. A physical PS5 edition from Skybound is also up for pre-order.

The console versions arrive with every update the PC game has had since launch, so console players start with the full mountain, not the 2025 jam version.

Peak console release date and time

The update goes live at 8 AM PT on October 22, according to Team PEAK. That works out to:

Region Release time
US West (PT) 8:00 AM, Thursday, October 22
US East (ET) 11:00 AM, October 22
UTC 15:00, October 22
UK (BST) 4:00 PM, October 22
Central Europe (CEST) 5:00 PM, October 22
Japan (JST) 12:00 AM, Friday, October 23
Sydney (AEDT) 2:00 AM, Friday, October 23

The studio’s official trailer, titled “PEAK: Console Edition | Coming October 22nd”, is on Aggro Crab’s YouTube channel:

Crossplay and what’s in the console version

  • Crossplay: “you can climb with up to three friends no matter what platform they use,” Team PEAK writes on the PlayStation Blog. The Steam post presents the update as crossplay for PC players and their friends on PS5, Xbox and Switch 2.
  • Co-op size: up to four players, the same as on PC, or you can climb solo.
  • All content so far: the PS5 version “includes all content updates, biomes, and new items the game has received since initial launch,” including custom runs that let you make the climb easier or harder (and kick your friends, if you’re feeling evil).
  • Fixes: the same update brings general fixes for everyone, with full notes promised next week.

Price and the physical PS5 edition

Neither announcement gives a price for the console versions. On PC, Peak costs $7.99 on Steam. We’ll update this story when the console store listings go live.

The physical PS5 release is published by Skybound Games. According to Team PEAK, the box holds a disc with the base game, a Buddy Code (an extra game code for a friend, per the official product art) and a printed passport with stickers for decorating your scout in real life. Pre-orders are open now, but the disc won’t ship until later this year, so the digital version on October 22 is the way to play at launch.

What is Peak?

Peak is a first-person co-op climbing game from two studios working as Team PEAK: Aggro Crab (Seattle, maker of Another Crab’s Treasure) and Landfall (Stockholm, maker of Totally Accurate Battle Simulator and Content Warning). You play lost nature scouts who must scale the mountain at the center of a mysterious island to get rescued. Every fall or injury cuts into your stamina, food is scarce and often questionable, and hazards range from tornadoes and poison clouds to birds and zombies. The golden rule, the developers say: never abandon a friend in need.

It started small. Three Aggro Crab and four Landfall developers built it during a one-month game jam in a rented apartment in Seoul in February 2025, then finished it together in Sweden that June.

Why Peak blew up

Peak launched on Steam on June 16, 2025 and sold 1 million copies in under a week, more than Aggro Crab’s previous game, PC Gamer reported. By August 2025 it had passed 10 million copies, a figure Geoff Keighley confirmed on stage at Gamescom Opening Night Live, IGN reported. A $4.95 sale that August pushed it to 171,000 concurrent players on Steam, according to IGN. When we checked on October 15, it had more than 379,000 Steam user reviews, about 94% of them positive.

Team PEAK had said earlier this year that console versions were in the works, and an ESRB rating for a PS5 version, with Skybound Games listed as publisher, surfaced on October 13, Insider Gaming noted. The Steam announcement confirms Xbox and Switch 2 versions on the same day.

If you want more co-op on Switch 2 this month, Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 demo lands on October 19. Xbox players shopping for a handheld can check our breakdown of the ROG Xbox Ally X20.

What’s next

Expect patch notes and the console store pages before the 8 AM PT launch on October 22, which should confirm prices and exactly which Xbox platforms are covered. Pre-orders for the physical PS5 edition are open now, with shipping later this year.
