Rockstar has not announced a GTA 6 Online mode. Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Rockstar’s own pre-order announcement describes it as “a single-player experience”. Quick answer (official sources checked October 28, 2026, 20:15 UTC):
- Is there a GTA 6 Online? Not announced. Rockstar says GTA VI “features a single-player experience”, and both console store listings say “Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.”
- GTA 6 Online release date: none. The only date Rockstar has given is the game’s launch, November 19, 2026, with pre-load from November 12.
- Crossplay: Rockstar hasn’t mentioned it. Neither store lists online multiplayer or cross-platform play, and no PC version has been announced.
- Price: no price for an online mode. The game costs $79.99 (Standard) or $99.99 (Ultimate) in the US.
- GTA Online (GTA 5): Take-Two says it will keep supporting it, and the free GTA+ month for digital pre-orders is used in GTA Online on GTA 5, not in GTA 6.

Is there a GTA 6 Online mode? What Rockstar has said
Rockstar’s clearest statement is its pre-order press release from June 24, 2026. It says GTA VI launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for $79.99 and “features a single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet.” The release doesn’t mention an online or multiplayer mode for GTA VI. Its only mention of online play is GTA+, and that is GTA 5’s online mode (more on that below).
The store pages say the same thing. As of October 28, the descriptions on the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store both include the line “Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.” The feature labels match:
- PlayStation Store: “1 player”, “Offline play enabled” (the description’s compatibility notes say “Offline play only”), “In-game purchases optional”, Remote Play supported and PS5 Pro Enhanced. There is no online play or PS Plus requirement label.
- Xbox Store: the Microsoft catalog lists the game’s capability as “Single player” only, with no online multiplayer or cross-platform multiplayer flag.
Take-Two’s own product list says the same. Its August 7, 2026 earnings release lists “Grand Theft Auto VI, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, November 19, 2026” and no separate online product.
Rockstar hasn’t said anything about an online mode that might come later. It hasn’t ruled one out or named one. Search results for “GTA 6 Online” are full of leaked footage, job-listing theories and insider claims, but none of that comes from Rockstar, so it isn’t here.
GTA 6 Online release date: has Rockstar announced one?
No. Rockstar has only dated the game itself. Its November 6, 2025 Newswire post moved the launch from May 26 to November 19, 2026, saying “these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve”. It doesn’t mention an online mode either.

What earlier Rockstar launches did (history, not a prediction): GTA Online came out on October 1, 2013, two weeks after GTA 5 launched on September 17, 2013. Red Dead Online started as a beta on November 27, 2018, a month after Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on October 26. Both times Rockstar released the story game first and the online mode separately. Rockstar hasn’t said whether GTA 6 will follow that pattern.
Will GTA 6 have crossplay?
Rockstar hasn’t said a word about crossplay or cross-progression for GTA 6. At launch it’s a single-player game on two consoles, so there’s no official online mode for crossplay to apply to.
A few related facts are confirmed:

- Store labels: neither console listing shows online multiplayer or cross-platform features.
- Accounts: the store legal text says some features “may require internet connection, Rockstar Games account registration”. That’s Rockstar’s standard wording, not an online mode announcement.
Any page that “confirms” GTA 6 crossplay before Rockstar does is guessing.
GTA 6 Online price: will it be free?
Rockstar hasn’t said whether a GTA 6 online mode would be free, included with the game or sold separately, because it hasn’t announced one. Here’s what is priced:

Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick talked about pricing on the August 7, 2026 earnings call, but only about the base game. He said “Rockstar got it right in terms of the pricing” and added: “Our goal is not to maximize price.” He didn’t price or name any GTA 6 online mode.

What happens to GTA Online (GTA 5) when GTA 6 launches?
This is the one online question with an official answer. On the August 7 call, an analyst asked about GTA Online’s update schedule. Zelnick answered that “the cadence hasn’t really changed, and we do apply significant resources to that, and we expect to continue to support GTA Online going forward.” Rockstar’s latest big update was the Kortz Center Heist on July 14, 2026, which Take-Two lists for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
The GTA 6 pre-order bonus also points back to GTA 5. Rockstar’s press release says the free month of GTA+ for digital pre-orders “will be the best way to get the most out of the ever-evolving world of GTA Online” and lets players “jump into Grand Theft Auto V” and the GTA+ Games Library. The Rockstar Store says: “Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced required to redeem and use in-game GTA+ benefits.” So the bonus GTA$500,000 deposit and Shark Card bonus go to your GTA Online character in GTA 5, not into GTA 6.
- Xbox: redeem the GTA+ month within 180 days of placing the pre-order (Xbox Store listing).
- PlayStation: redeem by March 31, 2027; it auto-renews at the regular price after the free month unless you cancel.
- Heads-up for PS Plus players: GTA 5 is leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium on November 17, two days before GTA 6 launches. To keep playing GTA Online after that, you’ll need to own GTA 5.

When could Rockstar talk about GTA 6 Online?
Rockstar hasn’t promised an announcement. The next official moments are Take-Two’s earnings report on November 9, pre-load on November 12 and launch day on November 19. There’s no date, because Rockstar hasn’t announced GTA 6 Online. The game launches November 19, 2026. For comparison, GTA Online followed GTA 5 by two weeks in 2013 and Red Dead Online followed RDR2 by about a month in 2018, but Rockstar hasn’t said what it plans this time.
