GTA 6 has no PC release date: Rockstar only lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for Nov 19. Every Take-Two quote, the Q1 2027 report and PC options.

GTA 6 has no PC release date. Rockstar Games has announced Grand Theft Auto VI only for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, launching November 19, 2026, and it hasn’t confirmed a PC version at all. The most detailed claim so far is a GamesBeat report from October 13, which says a PC version is planned for the first quarter of 2027. Rockstar didn’t comment on it, so for now it’s a report, not a date.

This guide collects everything Rockstar and its parent company Take-Two have actually said about GTA 6 on PC, keeps the reports clearly labelled, and covers what PC players can and can’t do on November 19. Checked October 29, 2026.

Quick answer: GTA 6 on PC

  • GTA 6 PC release date: not announced. The only official platforms are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
  • Reported window: Q1 2027 (January to March), per GamesBeat’s four anonymous sources. Unconfirmed.
  • Take-Two’s line: “Rockstar Games has announced GTA 6 for console only so far” (Strauss Zelnick, May 21, 2026).
  • PC pre-orders: none. There’s no Steam, Epic or Rockstar Launcher listing, and the Rockstar Store sells only the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.
  • PC system requirements: not published. Any “GTA 6 PC requirements” list online is a guess.
  • Cloud streaming to PC: ruled out at launch by Xbox: the game “will not be streaming exclusively or to PC”.
  • Playing on a PC screen anyway: PS5 owners can stream their own console to a Windows PC with Sony’s PS Remote Play app. The PS Store listing says “Remote Play supported”.

Is GTA 6 coming to PC?

Officially, not yet. Rockstar’s November 19 date announcement, the GTA VI website and the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store listings name PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and nothing else. The Rockstar Store’s product data lists two platforms, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Nobody at Take-Two has ruled a PC version out, though, and the company keeps saying that its big games reach PC eventually. Asked about “the PC release” on the May 21, 2026 earnings call, Zelnick said “the PC market’s a great market” and that “virtually all of our hit titles end up on all [platforms] over time”, then added: “That said, Rockstar Games has announced GTA 6 for console only so far.”

GTA 6 PC release date: the Q1 2027 report

On October 13, GamesBeat reported that Rockstar plans to release GTA 6 on PC “within the first three months of 2027”, citing four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans who asked not to be named. GamesBeat says a Rockstar representative didn’t respond before publication, and that the PC version would still have to pass the same quality bar as the console game. Insider Gaming and other outlets repeated the claim, citing GamesBeat, and Rockstar still hasn’t confirmed or denied it.

GamesBeat’s reasoning is about roleplay and user-made content. In August 2023, Rockstar brought in Cfx.re, the team behind the FiveM and RedM roleplay platforms, and FiveM is built on the PC version of GTA V. That’s GamesBeat’s argument for why a quick PC launch would matter to Rockstar. It isn’t something Rockstar has said.

There’s one more official detail that is easy to over-read. On the May call, Take-Two president Karl Slatoff said the fiscal year to March 31, 2027 includes “1 platform extension” alongside its mobile and sports games. Take-Two didn’t say which game that is, so it isn’t evidence for GTA 6 on PC either way.

What Take-Two has said about PC, in order

Date Who and where What was said
Nov 2024 Zelnick, earnings call (via GamesRadar+) PC “will continue to be a more and more important part” of the business, and “that isn’t complicated for us to support at all”
Feb 2025 Zelnick to IGN (via TechRadar) “Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms”
May 2026 Zelnick to Bloomberg (via PC Gamer) “Rockstar always starts on console because… you’re judged by serving the core.” He also said PC can be “45, 50% of the sales” of a big title
May 21, 2026 Zelnick, Q4 FY26 earnings call “Rockstar Games has announced GTA 6 for console only so far”
Aug 7, 2026 Zelnick, Q1 FY27 earnings call For a console game also released on PC, PC can now be “40% or 50%” of sales, against 1% to 2% twenty years ago. No GTA 6 PC news
Oct 7, 2026 Matthew Ball, Xbox chief strategy officer, on X GTA 6 “will not be streaming exclusively or to PC”

The pattern is consistent: console first, PC treated as important, and no date until Rockstar itself announces one. Rockstar has made no public statement about a PC version.

How long Rockstar games took to reach PC

If the Q1 2027 report is right, GTA 6 would reach PC faster than any recent Rockstar game. Here’s the history, using the original console and PC launch dates (North American dates where they differ).

Game Console launch PC launch Wait
GTA: San Andreas Oct 26, 2004 (PS2) Jun 7, 2005 about 7 months
GTA IV Apr 29, 2008 Dec 2, 2008 about 7 months
Red Dead Redemption May 18, 2010 Oct 29, 2024 14 years, 5 months
GTA V Sep 17, 2013 Apr 14, 2015 about 19 months
Red Dead Redemption 2 Oct 26, 2018 Nov 5, 2019 about 12 months
GTA VI Nov 19, 2026 Not announced (Q1 2027 reported) about 1.5 to 4.5 months, if the report holds

One more pattern from recent launches: Red Dead Redemption 2 arrived on the Rockstar Games Launcher on November 5, 2019, and on Steam a month later, on December 5 (per its Steam page). Rockstar hasn’t said which PC stores a GTA 6 PC version would use.

Can you pre-order GTA 6 on PC?

No. There’s no PC edition to pre-order on Steam, the Epic Games Store or the Rockstar Games Launcher. The official Rockstar Store page sells only the console versions. Any site offering a “GTA 6 PC download”, a PC key or a PC beta today isn’t selling anything Rockstar has made, so treat it as a scam. If you want GTA 6 on day one, the choice is PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. Our GTA 6 editions, prices and pre-order bonuses guide covers the Standard and Ultimate Editions.

GTA 6 PC system requirements

Rockstar hasn’t published any. Minimum and recommended specs normally appear on the official store pages once a PC version is announced. Until then, any “GTA 6 PC requirements” table is somebody’s estimate, not Rockstar’s. For console players, the storage question matters more right now: our GTA 6 release time, pre-load and file size guide covers the November 12 pre-load and the reported download size.

Can you play GTA 6 on PC through the cloud or Remote Play?

Cloud gaming: no, not at launch. On October 6, The Verge reported that Xbox had secured exclusive GTA 6 streaming rights for Xbox Cloud Gaming, then corrected the story, saying the deal was “more complicated” than first reported. Matthew Ball, Xbox’s chief strategy officer, wrote on October 7 that Xbox looks forward to “launching GTAVI on XBOX November 19, though the game will not be streaming exclusively or to PC.” Services like GeForce Now stream PC games you own, so they need a PC version first.

Remote Play from your own console: this is the one official way to see GTA 6 on a PC monitor at launch. The PS Store listing marks GTA 6 as “Remote Play supported”, and Sony’s free PS Remote Play app lets you control your PS5 from a Windows PC or Mac. The game still runs on the console, so you need a PS5 and a copy of the game, and picture quality depends on your home network. Xbox has a similar Remote Play feature for streaming from your own console through the Xbox app.

When could Rockstar announce GTA 6 for PC?

Rockstar hasn’t hinted at a timing, so these are only the next dates to watch. Take-Two reports its second-quarter results on Monday, November 9, 2026, ten days before launch, and an analyst asked about the PC release on the May call. Launch week itself is the other obvious moment. If the GamesBeat window is right, an announcement would have to come within the next few months. Rockstar has also announced nothing about a GTA 6 online mode, which GamesBeat links to the PC plans. Our GTA 6 Online guide tracks what’s been said there.

No. On November 19, 2026, GTA 6 launches only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar hasn’t announced a PC version or a PC date.

When is the GTA 6 PC release date?

There isn’t one yet. GamesBeat reported a first-quarter 2027 window from four anonymous sources on October 13, 2026. Rockstar didn’t comment, so treat it as a report until Rockstar confirms it.

Why isn’t GTA 6 on PC at launch?

Take-Two’s explanation is that Rockstar always starts on console. Zelnick told Bloomberg in May 2026 that “you’re judged by serving the core”, meaning console players. Rockstar itself hasn’t given a reason.

Will GTA 6 be on Steam?

Rockstar hasn’t said. Its last two big PC launches, GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, are both sold on Steam, and RDR2 reached Steam a month after the Rockstar Games Launcher.
