Cozy co-op farming and life sims

1. Stardew Valley

Still the easiest recommendation for a group. The Steam page lets you invite up to seven other players to one farm, and Nintendo’s Switch 2 Edition listing also shows online play for 1-8 players (local wireless 1-4). The Xbox listing tops out at four. There is no crossplay, so everyone needs the same platform. It’s worth your time if your group likes splitting the chores: one person fishes, one mines, one keeps the crops alive. If you’ve already finished it, our games like Stardew Valley list has more farms to try.

2. Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The Switch 2 Edition ($64.99, or a $4.99 upgrade pack for Switch owners) raises online island sessions to 12 players, as long as everyone has that edition. You can still play 1-4 on one console or up to 8 over local wireless. It’s for players who want low-pressure visits, not shared goals.

3. Pokémon Pokopia

Pokopia’s eShop page lists 2-4 players over local wireless and 1-4 online, with GameShare support on Switch 2. Single-system co-op isn’t supported. Nintendo describes it as inviting other players to visit your home and hang out with your Pokémon. Its Halloween event is live now; see our Pokopia Halloween event guide.

4. Coral Island

The best farm sim here for mixed-platform groups. According to developer Stairway Games, the 1.2 update added four-player multiplayer, and a September 25, 2025 hotfix enabled cross-platform play between Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series. A Switch 2 version with crossplay and the 1.4 “Kids Grow Up” update is due this winter. It costs $29.99.

5. Luma Island

Luma Island’s console date was announced today: on October 22, Feel Free Games set PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for December 2, 2026, with crossplay co-op for up to four players. The Xbox Store lists release at 11:00 UTC that day. The developer says console friends can join an existing PC save, so you don’t have to start over. No console price has been announced. On Steam it’s $19.99, with Cozy, Adventure and Hero difficulty modes and drop-in/drop-out co-op.

6. Palia

Palia is free to play on PC, Switch, PS5 and Xbox, and both the Steam and Nintendo listings mark it as cross-platform. It’s a shared online village rather than a private farm: you garden, fish and cook alongside other players, and friends can join you across platforms. It suits groups who can’t agree on buying the same $30 game.

7. Disney Dreamlight Valley

Up to four players can visit each other’s Valley through the Valley Visit Station, according to the Steam page, and the Nintendo and Xbox listings both tag it as cross-platform. Visits are lighter than Stardew’s shared farm: you trade, decorate and do chores in someone else’s world. Steam has it at $35.99 (40% off) until November 4 at 14:00 UTC. Elsewhere it’s $39.99, including the Switch 2 Edition.

8. Peak

Peak isn’t a farm game, but its gentle chaos, campfires and marshmallows have made it a favorite for friend groups. It launched on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 today at 15:00 UTC. Team Peak’s launch post confirms crossplay with Steam through room codes. Lobbies hold up to four players and are friends-only. Progress doesn’t transfer between platforms, and the developer says mods may cause problems in mixed lobbies. It’s $7.99 on Steam and $9.99 on the Xbox Store. PS5 and Switch 2 US prices weren’t readable on those stores when we checked; outlets such as Altchar reported $6.99 before launch. Our Peak console launch post covers the physical PS5 edition.

9. Overcooked! All You Can Eat

Team17 says it has more than 200 kitchens and cross-platform online multiplayer across every level. Up to four players can join locally or online. Assist Mode makes kitchens easier for younger or newer players, which keeps the shouting friendly. It costs $39.99.

10. PlateUp!

PlateUp! is a slower, more strategic restaurant game than Overcooked: you design your kitchen between shifts and plan your expansions. Up to four players can play locally or online. Crossplay is limited: Steam works with other PC stores, and the Xbox listing shows Xbox-PC co-op. The Switch version is $5.99 (down from $19.99) until November 7 at 06:59 UTC.

11. Moving Out 2

Physics-based furniture removal for up to four players, local or online, with crossplay added for the sequel. It’s silly rather than relaxing, which makes it a good pick for families and mixed-skill groups. It costs $29.99.

12. Spiritfarer

The only couch-only game on the list. A second player can join as Daffodil the cat in optional local co-op, and the eShop page lists two players. Expect a gentle, sometimes tearful story about saying goodbye. It’s worth your time if you want a cozy evening with a partner rather than a group lobby. It costs $29.99.

Which cozy co-op games have crossplay?

  • Full crossplay with Switch 2 included: Peak (since October 22). Coral Island adds Switch 2 this winter.
  • PC with PlayStation and Xbox: Coral Island, Luma Island (from December 2), Peak.
  • Listed as cross-platform on most stores: Palia, Overcooked! All You Can Eat, Moving Out 2, Disney Dreamlight Valley.
  • No crossplay: Stardew Valley, Spiritfarer, and Nintendo’s own Animal Crossing and Pokopia.
