The Witchbrook release date is January 28, 2027, on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PS5, all on the same day. Chucklefish also confirmed the price in its release date dev blog. It costs $24.99 digitally at launch, and physical Standard and Collector’s Editions will follow a little later.
The date first appeared during Nintendo’s Indie World showcase on October 28. Nintendo of America’s post only mentioned Switch 2 and Switch. Chucklefish’s own dev blog, posted on Steam at the same time, and the official Witchbrook account confirmed the full platform list, and that list now includes PS5.

Chucklefish hasn’t announced a launch hour yet. The US PlayStation Store listing shows 12:00 UTC on January 28, but the other stores only list the day. PS5 is the new addition. Chucklefish says it brought the game to PlayStation with help from porting partner PlayEveryWare, because fans had kept asking for it.
How much does Witchbrook cost?
Witchbrook will cost $24.99 at launch. Chucklefish says it will share regional prices closer to release, so there’s no official UK or EU price yet. No store takes pre-orders yet. The eShop lists the Switch 2 and Switch versions as two separate products, and Nintendo doesn’t show an upgrade offer between them so far.
Physical collectors will have to wait a little. Chucklefish says a physical Standard Edition and a Collector’s Edition are “in the works”. They’ll arrive “a little while after” the digital launch so they don’t hold up the release date. Platforms and contents will be announced later.
What kind of game is Witchbrook?
Witchbrook is a pixel-art life sim from Chucklefish and Robotality, published by Chucklefish. You play the newest student at Witchbrook College in the seaside town of Mossport. According to the Steam and eShop descriptions, your days mix:
- Classes and exams: Alchemy, Potions, Astrology, Rituals, Demon Hunting and Tarot. Assignments earn merits, and passing exams unlocks new spells on the way to graduation.
- A witch business: craft goods for the townsfolk and deliver orders by moped, or by broom once you earn your licence. You can also run a stall at the Sunday market.
- Friends and romance: each dateable covenmate has their own story. The newest is Kiara Chandra, a sardonic post-grad who is good at the Arcane Arts.
- Home and free time: fix up a woodland cottage and garden, then join clubs, enter cooking contests, go birdwatching, bug-catching or fishing, and attend seasonal events.
The new trailer adds a ghostly college Chancellor (his students call him “The Deadmaster”) and shows spellcasting, a study and knowledge system, potion-making and tarot for the first time.

Does Witchbrook have co-op?
Yes. Up to 4 players can play together in online co-op, and you can build the business together, decorate cottages and race brooms. On Switch and Switch 2, online play needs a Nintendo Switch Online membership, according to the eShop listing. Nintendo’s listing shows single player on one console and up to 4 players online, with no local co-op listed. The ESRB rating is Teen (Suggestive Themes). On PC the minimum specs are modest: Windows 10 64-bit, a quad-core CPU, 8 GB of RAM, a DirectX 11 GPU with 4 GB of VRAM and 2 GB of storage.

What’s next
Watch for three things before January 28: pre-orders and regional prices on each store, a confirmed launch time, and the physical edition announcement. Switch owners should also check whether Nintendo adds an upgrade path between the Switch and Switch 2 versions. For everything else from the show, see our Indie World October 2026 recap. Our best cozy games on Switch 2 list has more to play until January.
