Every friend in Hello Kitty Island Adventure has exactly one 3-heart gift, the item that matches all three of their liked tags. For Hello Kitty it is Red Bow Apple Pie, for Kuromi it is Pumpkin Spice Soda, and for the newest gift-able friend, Moppu, it is the GameBear. The table below lists the best gift, its recipe and how to unlock it for all 22 friends, followed by a cheap starter gift for each and what the Welcome Home 3.0 update changed about gifting.
The data comes from the community Hello Kitty Island Adventure Wiki’s Character Gift Guide and its per-friend recommendation tables, which were last edited between June 22 and October 30, 2026. We checked it against Destructoid’s 3-heart gift list (February 10, 2025) and PC Gamer’s gift guide (January 31, 2025), plus PC Gamer’s separate Usahana and Cogimyun guides. The places where the sources disagree are listed further down. Checked November 1, 2026, 10:30 UTC.

Quick answer: the best gifts in Hello Kitty Island Adventure
- Each friend has one 3-heart gift, and it’s always their most valuable present. You can give each friend 3 gifts a day.
- The easiest 3-heart gifts come from cooking stations you upgrade early: Chocolate Chai for Cinnamoroll (Espresso Machine), Pochacco Energy Pop for Pochacco and Pumpkin Spice Soda for Kuromi (Soda Machine), and Ultimate Joke Pizza for Badtz-maru (Pizza Oven).
- The highest gift values belong to Kiki’s Starry Skies Shake, Lala’s Quattro Formaggi Pizza and TOPHAT’s The Future of Everything. The wiki lists each at a base gift value of 12, against 7 to 10 for most other 3-heart gifts.
- Bring Hello Kitty along. Her level 12 companion ability, Everyone’s Friend, adds 10% friendship to every gift you give while she’s with you.
- New in Welcome Home (3.0, October 8, 2026): Character Mailboxes deliver gifts to a friend at the daily reset, so you no longer have to find them. Marroncream, the update’s new character, can’t be gifted yet.

How gifting works in Hello Kitty Island Adventure
The gift menu shows only items with at least one tag that matches the friend’s three liked tags, and its hearts show how many tags match. Item rarity makes no difference.
According to the wiki’s Gifting page, a gift’s value adds up from the hidden value of each liked tag (0 to 2), a bonus for 2 or 3 matching tags, 1 point per tag on the item, and a friendship bonus of +1 at Good Friend and +2 at Close Friend. Friendship XP is then 5 x gift value + 10, and the menu sorts the best options to the top.
- Daily limit: 3 gifts per friend. A Friendship Blossom resets one friend’s limit, and a Friendship Bouquet resets everyone’s.
- Good Friend: you can hand over up to 3 of the same item at once, and you get 1 extra return gift. Close Friend adds 1 more.
- Best Friend: gift value no longer matters, only hearts do. A 1-heart gift earns a small Character Box, 2 hearts a medium box and 3 hearts a regular box, which can contain a Character Hat.
- Companions: My Melody’s Big Smile gives an extra return gift but no extra friendship. Hello Kitty’s Sous Chef and Chococat’s Master Crafter can double the food or crafts you make for gifts.

Gifts for the newest friends: Moppu, Usahana, Cogimyun and Marroncream
Moppu lives in Moppu’s Cave in the Snow Village on Icy Peak, near the False Peak mailbox, and becomes a friend after the “Snow Day” quest. His likes are Digital, Frozen and Gaming. The upgraded Vending Machine (Moppu level 16) adds five 2-heart slushies made from Chips, a Snowcicle and a dye pouch. We found no dated outlet guide for Moppu, so his gift data rests on the wiki alone.
Usahana is part of the City Town DLC. Mochi of any flavour is a 2-heart gift once you finish her level 3 quest “A Whole New Menu”, PC Gamer’s Usahana guide says.
Cogimyun (Wheatflour Wonderland DLC) shares the highest cap, 35 levels, with Usahana. Her Ultimate Wand only unlocks at level 25, so 2-heart Magical Potions from the upgraded Cauldron carry you there.
Marroncream, the bunny who arrived with Welcome Home, can’t take gifts. The wiki classes her as a special character and says it’s unknown whether she will become a friend later. She hands out Pocket Room Doorknobs and Spun Lace when you finish Island Homes.
What Welcome Home (3.0) changed for gifting
Sunblink’s Welcome Home announcement (October 8, 2026, all platforms) says you can now “drop items into Character Mailboxes to send gifts to your besties if you forget”. The wiki’s Mailboxes page adds the details:
- Unlock: finish the “Gifts Galore” quest. Each Character Mailbox needs that friend’s Character Home, Close Friend status and 3 Cornerstones.
- How it delivers: at the daily reset, the friend takes gifts from their mailbox up to the daily limit you didn’t use. If you gave 2 gifts by hand, they take 1 from the mailbox.
- Cornerstones: they arrive in your Home mailbox the day after you gift friends 3 times each, so daily gifting now also feeds your home building.
- Craft spares: The Future of Everything, TOPHAT’s best gift, is also needed for Chococat’s and Cogimyun’s Island Home layouts.
Version 3.0 shipped Character Homes for 13 friends; My Melody, Retsuko, Wish me mell, My Sweet Piano, Big Challenges, TOPHAT, Kiki, Lala and Moppu don’t have one yet, so they can’t get a mailbox.
Hello Kitty’s birthday is today (November 1)
Hello Kitty’s Birthday Celebration started on October 30, 2026, according to the wiki’s event page. The wiki doesn’t list an end date yet; the 2025 event ran from October 30 to November 12. Her Birthday Cake (Hello Kitty’s Decorating Kit + Flour at the Oven) is a 2-heart gift for her. Retsuko’s birthday is next, on November 6.

Where the sources disagree
- The Future of Everything recipe: the wiki’s item page lists 2 Stars, 3 Little Challenges and 3 Glitches. Destructoid lists 3 Stars. We use the wiki’s newer edit (October 24, 2026), but bring a spare Star.
- Rainbow Dango: the wiki’s gift guide lists a Rainbow Beam plus 3 Mochi, while the item page shows only 3 Mochi as the recipe. Both agree on the level 16 unlock.
- Tag names: PC Gamer uses different words for some likes, such as “Mechanical” for Chococat’s Device tag, “Trophy” for Pochacco’s Sports tag, “Calm” for Relax and “Ingot” where the wiki lists Metal for Retsuko. Every 3-heart gift on PC Gamer’s list matches the wiki.
- Friendship caps: PC Gamer’s Cogimyun guide says other characters have 30 levels. The wiki’s resident list shows caps from 10 (TOPHAT) to 25 (Hello Kitty, Moppu), with 35 for Usahana and Cogimyun. We list the wiki’s numbers.
Platforms, Switch 2 and DLC
| Platform or DLC | Status (checked November 1, 2026) |
|---|---|
| Apple Arcade | Version 3.0.5. The wiki, citing Sunblink’s Discord, expects version 3.1 around November 4; treat that date as unconfirmed. |
| PC (Steam), Switch, PlayStation | Version 3.0.1, a bug-fix patch for Welcome Home. Steam lists the base game at $39.99. |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Switch 2 Edition out since November 13, 2025: $49.99 on Nintendo’s US store, or a $9.99 upgrade pack for Switch owners, per Gematsu |
| Paid DLC on Steam | Wheatflour Wonderland (Cogimyun) $14.99, City Town (Usahana) $24.99, Tea Garden content pack $9.99. Apple Arcade gets them as free updates. |
| Next DLC | A cosmetic content pack hinted for December, according to the wiki. Unconfirmed: no official announcement yet. |

FAQ
Can you give a bad gift in Hello Kitty Island Adventure?
No. The gift menu only shows items with at least one tag the friend likes, so every gift raises friendship. Gifts with more matching tags (more hearts) are simply worth more.
What is Hello Kitty’s favourite gift?
Red Bow Apple Pie (Flour + Apple + Magma Bloom), cooked in the Oven after its upgrade at Hello Kitty level 15. Before that, Strawberry Shortcake is the best early option.
Can you gift Marroncream?
Not as of version 3.0. She’s a special character who helps with Homes, and the wiki doesn’t know yet whether she’ll become a friend.
