The best Minecraft shaders for 26.3 are Complementary Reimagined for most players, BSL for a bright classic look, Photon or Bliss for high-end PCs, and MakeUp Ultra Fast or Miniature for low-end PCs. Every pack below has a download on its official Modrinth page tagged for Java 26.3, and all of them run through the Iris mod, because OptiFine has no 26.3 build yet.
Checked October 29, 2026, 01:16 UTC against Modrinth’s project data, the OptiFine downloads page and Mojang’s patch notes. Current versions: Java 26.3 (Wilderness Bound) and the 26.4 snapshots.

Quick answer
- Best overall: Complementary Reimagined r5.9.3. It looks close to vanilla and has profiles from Potato to Ultra.
- Best realistic look: Complementary Unbound, Photon v1.4, Bliss 2.1.2 or Noble 1.9.9.
- Best for low-end PCs: MakeUp Ultra Fast 9.6, Miniature 2.19, E-LITE 5.1.3 and Mellow 3.4.1a.

Some popular names are missing on purpose. Rethinking Voxels, Super Duper Vanilla and Shrimple have no Modrinth file tagged for anything newer than 1.21.x, so we can’t say they work on 26.3.
Best shaders for most players
1. Complementary Reimagined
This is the most downloaded shader pack on Modrinth. Its developer, EminGT, says it keeps Minecraft’s own look, with “a reworked vanilla feel”. It has custom effects for almost every block and profiles from Potato to Ultra, so the same pack can work on a laptop or a gaming PC. Download it from Modrinth or the official Complementary site.
2. Complementary Unbound
This is the same pack in its “less restricted” style, which aims for a more realistic image. Pick Unbound if Reimagined looks too close to vanilla for you. Version r5.9.3 covers 26.1 through 26.3.
3. BSL Shaders
Capt Tatsu’s BSL is the classic bright, colorful pack. It has real-time shadows, volumetric light, bloom, adjustable clouds and water, and built-in anti-aliasing. Depth of field, motion blur and cel shading are optional. Version 10.1.8 is tagged for 26.3. The official BSL site has the FAQ and changelog.

4. Photon
Photon is a “gameplay-focused” semi-realistic pack by sixthsurge. It has layered clouds, a weather system that gives each day a different sky, volumetric fog and screen-space reflections. Voxel-based colored lighting is on in the Ultra profile, and that profile needs Iris. Version 1.4 came out on October 19.
5. Bliss
Bliss is a large edit of Chocapic13’s shaders, focused on scene variety and lots of settings. Its page says AMD, Intel and NVIDIA graphics are supported, and Apple devices have limited support because of OpenGL limits. The current file dates from November 2025, but its author has tagged it for 26.3.
6. Solas
Solas is a fantasy-style pack with colored block lighting, 3D clouds, auroras, the Milky Way and fireflies. Its developer describes the performance cost as “moderate”, so it sits between BSL and Photon.
7. Noble
Noble is a free, open-source realistic pack by BelmuTM. It has every performance tag from potato to high, so you can turn most effects down on weaker hardware.

MakeUp Ultra Fast lets you switch off every effect one by one, which makes it a top pick for low-end PCs. Image: MakeUp – Ultra Fast via Modrinth
Best Minecraft shaders for low-end PCs
On a laptop or older graphics card, start with one of these, then turn off shadows or volumetric clouds if your frame rate drops.
- MakeUp Ultra Fast: built for “the best quality / performance ratio”. Every effect is optional, including shadows, clouds, TAA and bloom. It’s open source (LGPL), and version 9.6 came out on October 19.
- Miniature: described as “extremely lightweight”. It adds blocky shadows and reflections on water and ice, and keeps Minecraft’s model-like look.
- E-LITE: an edit of MakeUp that adds more style options and still runs fast. Its author warns against OptiFine preview builds.
- Mellow: a painterly pack that calls itself “easy on your eyes and on your computer”. It can use lightmap-based shadows instead of a shadow map, and its color and fog settings are easy to adjust.
- Complementary on Potato or Low: if you want the most popular look, pick its Potato profile before trying a different pack.
Install Sodium with Iris on any PC. It’s the rendering-performance mod Iris is built on, and Iris 1.11.7 for 26.3 lists it as a required dependency.

How to install shaders in Minecraft 26.3
OptiFine can’t run shaders on 26.3: its downloads page lists only preview builds (HD U K2 pre5) for 26.2 and nothing for 26.3. Use Iris instead:
- Install the Fabric loader for 26.3 from fabricmc.net. NeoForge also works, because Iris has a NeoForge build.
- Download Iris 1.11.7+26.3 and Sodium mc26.3-0.9.2. Iris lists this Sodium release as its required dependency. Sodium 0.9.3 is still a beta.
- Put both .jar files in your
.minecraft/modsfolder and start the game with the Fabric profile. - Download a shader pack .zip from the list above. Don’t unzip it.
- Go to Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs, click Open Shader Pack Folder, drop the .zip into
shaderpacks, then select the pack and click Apply.
The Modrinth App can also make a 26.3 Fabric profile and install Iris, Sodium and a shader pack for you. If you’re setting up a new world for screenshots, our best Minecraft seeds for 26.3 include the new dappled forest. The Minecraft commands list has /time set and /weather clear for golden-hour shots.
Will these shaders work on Minecraft 26.4?
Not yet. 26.4 is still in snapshots, and Iris has no 26.4 build on Modrinth. Mojang’s 26.4 Snapshot 1 notes (September 22) make Vulkan the default graphics API. 26.2 had only added experimental Vulkan support with a “Graphics API” video setting. In February, Mojang warned that the move away from OpenGL will affect mods that use OpenGL for rendering, and that updating will take modders more work than a normal release. Stay on 26.3 for shaders until Iris and your pack say they support 26.4.
Does Minecraft Bedrock have shaders?
None of these packs work on Bedrock. Bedrock’s official option is Vibrant Visuals, Mojang’s own lighting, shadow and reflection mode. According to Mojang’s Vibrant Visuals page, it runs on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Android, iOS and Windows PCs running Minecraft on DX12. You change it with the Graphics Mode dropdown in Video settings, which has “Favor Visuals” and “Favor Performance” presets. Mojang says Vibrant Visuals is coming to Java but has no release date. Switch 2 owners can read our Minecraft Switch 2 upgrade guide for what that edition adds.
FAQ
What is the best Minecraft shader for low-end PC?
MakeUp Ultra Fast and Miniature are the lightest packs with 26.3 files. Complementary on its Potato profile is a good choice if you want a better-known look. Always run Sodium with Iris.
Is OptiFine available for Minecraft 26.3?
No. On October 29, 2026, the OptiFine downloads page had only preview builds for 26.2 and 26.1.2, and nothing for 26.3. Use Iris and Sodium.
Are Minecraft shaders safe to download?
Download them from the official project page on Modrinth or CurseForge, or from the developer’s own site (complementary.dev, capttatsu.com). Avoid reupload sites that bundle installers.
Do shaders work on Minecraft Bedrock?
Java shader packs don’t. Bedrock’s official graphics upgrade is Vibrant Visuals, which you turn on in Video settings on supported devices.
