Subnautica Console Commands: Item IDs, God Mode, PS5, Xbox

To use Subnautica console commands on PC or Mac, press Shift + Enter (or Shift + the backtick key `) in game to open the command box, type a command and press Enter. On Xbox, press LB + A + RB together. On PlayStation, press L1 + Cross + R1. Then item titanium 10 adds 10 Titanium, nodamage makes you invincible and nocost lets you craft without materials.

Subnautica’s debug console works on Xbox and PlayStation as well as PC, with no setup needed on console. Below: how to open it on each platform, then tables of commands and IDs. Every command in our tables appears in at least two of the guides we checked (Gamer Guides, PC Gamer and Vodafone Featured), and every ID in two ID lists. Commands turn off achievements, so read that section first.

Quick answer: the Subnautica console commands people use most

• Open the console: PC/Mac Shift + Enter or Shift + `. Xbox LB + A + RB. PlayStation L1 + Cross + R1.
• Any item: item [ID] [amount], for example item titanium 10. Write two-word names as one word: item copperwire 10.
• God mode: nodamage (invincibility), invisible (creatures ignore you), oxygen (unlimited air).
• Free building: nocost, fastbuild and unlock all, or bobthebuilder for all of them at once plus starter tools.
• Vehicles: spawn seamoth, spawn exosuit (Prawn Suit) and sub cyclops.
• Teleport: biome [name], goto [location] or warp [x] [y] [z].
• Achievements: commands disable them. Keep a separate save for cheating.

How to open the console in Subnautica (PC and Mac)

Unknown Worlds changed the shortcut in the Living Large Update (version 2.0, December 13, 2022). Its official patch notes say, under PC: “Changed how the dev menu is accessed to SHIFT + `”. Gamer Guides (updated October 23, 2026) gives the current method, and it needs no setup:

1. Load your save. Make a manual save first, because some commands can’t be undone.
2. Hold Shift and press Enter (or Shift and the backtick key, which shares a key with ~ on US keyboards). A small text box opens.
3. Type the command and press Enter. Gamer Guides says commands aren’t case-sensitive, but item names must be spelled exactly.

Players on the Steam forums confirmed Shift + Enter and Shift + ` in the days after the update. One adds that after you press Shift + ` once, the backtick key on its own opens the box from then on.

On the old version (Steam “legacy” branch, under Properties > Betas per the patch notes): use the pre-2022 method from PC Gamer’s guide. Press F3, press F8 to free the mouse, untick “Disable Console” in the top-left corner, close the menu with F3 and F8, then press Enter or ~. PC Gamer notes you have to press F3 twice after every restart before the console works again.

Subnautica console commands on Xbox and PlayStation

Yes, they work, and there’s nothing to switch on first. Press the buttons below at the same time while you’re playing and a text box appears. Gamer Guides, Germany’s Vodafone Featured (updated July 15, 2025) and VGKami give the same combinations.

Vodafone adds that on PlayStation and Xbox you can also pick commands from a developer menu: open the pause menu and press L1 + R1 or LB + RB. On Switch we couldn’t confirm that the console works at all, and Unknown Worlds hasn’t documented it. If the combination does nothing, Creative mode is the legit alternative: Unknown Worlds added it in 2015 to remove resource and tech restrictions.

Do console commands disable achievements in Subnautica?

Yes. Gamer Guides says using any console command disables achievements for that save file, and Vodafone warns that achievements are locked while you use codes. Players on the Steam forums report that since the 2.0 update any console use locks achievements for the whole save. We found no statement from Unknown Worlds, so the safe rule is: use commands only on a save you don’t need achievements on.

Item commands and Subnautica item IDs

item [ID] [amount] puts items straight into your inventory. spawn [ID] [amount] drops them (or a creature or vehicle) in front of you. Every ID below appears in both Gamer Guides’ tables and Mejoress’s full item ID list. Several are internal names that differ from what you see in game, so copy them exactly.

Most are toggles: type the command again to switch it off.

Teleport commands and biome names

Biome names that PC Gamer and Gamer Guides agree on: safe (Safe Shallows), kelp (Kelp Forest), grassy (Grassy Plateaus), mushroom (Mushroom Forest), koosh (Bulb Zone), grandreef, deepgrand, dunes, mountains, bloodkelp, underislands, islands (Floating Island), smokers (thermal vents), lostriver, inactivelavart and lavazone.

goto locations that Gamer Guides and Vodafone both list: genroom, cargoroom and exoroom (Aurora rooms), base1 (Degasi base on the Floating Island), gun (Quarantine Enforcement Platform) and mountainteleporter.

Creature spawn IDs (Leviathans and more)

Use spawn [ID]. Gamer Guides warns that hostile Leviathans attack straight away, so pair this with invisible if you only want to look.

Story commands can permanently change a save, so use a copy.

Subnautica console not working? Common fixes

• F3 does nothing useful. That’s the old method. On the current version use Shift + Enter, and save F3/F8 for the legacy branch.
• The text box never appears. One Steam forum reply from December 2022 says the box won’t appear while the game is windowed. Try fullscreen.
• Wrong item name. Use the ID with no spaces (stasisrifle, not “stasis rifle”). Some IDs are internal names: the Repair Tool is welder, Ruby is aluminumoxide.
• Cyclops won’t spawn. It needs sub cyclops, not spawn.
• Stuck in a wall after a teleport. The Living Large update added an “Unstuck” button to the menu. warpme also takes you back to your last base or vehicle.

Does Subnautica 2 have console commands?

Not officially. Subnautica 2 has been in Steam Early Access since May 14, 2026, and PC Gamer says it has no official debug console. PC Gamer and Mein-MMO both describe a PC-only mod route instead: the UE4SS framework plus a fan-made “Console Commands” mod from Nexus Mods, opened with F2. It’s unofficial, Mein-MMO warns that mods can break your save, and both say goto, fly, warp, noclip and fastswim don’t work yet. None of the commands above work in Subnautica 2 without it.
