Stardew Valley Cheats (1.6): Money, Items, Console Commands

Edit allowChatCheats in your save and type /money or /debug, or use SMAPI’s player_setmoney and player_add. Tables for items, time, villagers; no console route.

Stardew Valley cheats don’t use button codes on any platform. Two methods still work on PC in version 1.6.15. With no mods, you edit one line in your save file to switch on the game’s hidden chat cheats, then type /money 100000 or /debug <command> in the chat box. With the SMAPI mod loader, you type commands such as player_setmoney 100000 or player_add name "Galaxy Sword" into SMAPI’s console window.

Consoles have neither method, and neither is confirmed to work on phones. Below is how to switch on each one, followed by tables for money, items, skills, time, animals, villagers and warps. Every command was checked on November 6, 2026 against at least two references: ConcernedApe’s 1.6.9 patch notes, the Stardew Valley Wiki, the SMAPI source code on GitHub and PC Gamer’s no-mods cheat guide (updated July 24, 2025). Where they disagree, we say so. This guide leaves out item-duplication glitches and other exploits.

Quick answer: Stardew Valley cheats that still work

  • No mods (PC): back up your save, change <allowChatCheats>false</allowChatCheats> to true, load the farm and press T to open chat.
  • Money: /money 100000 sets your gold to 100,000. It replaces your total, so it doesn’t add to it. /debug gold gives you 1,000,000.
  • Any item: /debug item <ID> [amount] [quality]. Alternatively, /debug iq ALL_ITEMS opens a shop with every item, all free.
  • With SMAPI: player_setmoney 100000, player_add name "Iridium Bar" 50, world_settime 0600. SMAPI also runs every debug command if you type debug first.
  • Consoles: Switch, PlayStation and Xbox have no cheat route and no mod support. iOS has no mod support either.
  • Achievements: Steam achievements still work with SMAPI if you launch it through Steam, according to the wiki’s modding FAQ.

Method 1: Stardew Valley chat cheats without mods (PC)

ConcernedApe’s 1.6.9 patch notes (November 4, 2024) list “Added hidden cheat commands” and link to the wiki’s cheat commands section. They’re off by default, and the only switch is a value inside your save file.

  1. Find your saves. On Windows, press Windows + R and enter %appdata%StardewValleySaves. On Mac and Linux the folder is ~/.config/StardewValley/Saves. The wiki’s Saves page lists the Steam flatpak and Heroic paths too.
  2. Back up the farm’s folder. It’s named like JonSnow_123456789 and holds two files: one with the same name as the folder, and SaveGameInfo. The game needs both to load the save. Copy the whole folder somewhere safe.
  3. Open the save file in a text editor. Notepad works. PC Gamer suggests Notepad++ with its XML Tools plugin, which makes the file easier to read.
  4. Search for allowChatCheats (Ctrl+F) and change <allowChatCheats>false</allowChatCheats> to <allowChatCheats>true</allowChatCheats>.
  5. Save the file, start the game and load that farm. Press T to open chat. PC Gamer says the chat box also works in single-player saves.
  6. Type a cheat with a forward slash: /money 500, or /debug followed by any debug command from the tables below.

The wiki and PC Gamer agree on what the switch unlocks: /money and /debug. PC Gamer also prints some commands without the debug prefix, such as /gold and /warphome. The wiki only documents the /debug form, so use /debug gold if the short version does nothing. PC Gamer also warns that older SMAPI commands don’t work in an edited save without mods, so player_setmoney and the other SMAPI commands below need SMAPI installed.

Method 2: SMAPI console commands (Windows, Mac, Linux, Steam Deck)

SMAPI is the open-source mod loader that most Stardew mods need. The current version is 4.5.2 (March 14, 2026), and it needs Stardew Valley 1.6.14 or later. The installer adds two bundled mods, Console Commands and Save Backup. We confirmed this in the installer code on GitHub, and the wiki’s player guide says the same. Console Commands is what adds the cheat-style commands.

  1. Run the game once without SMAPI, then download SMAPI and run its installer. On Windows that’s install on Windows.bat. The wiki’s Windows install guide covers the other steps.
  2. Steam on Windows: paste the line the installer shows ("...StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command%) into Stardew Valley’s Launch Options in Steam. The wiki says this is what keeps Steam achievements, the overlay and playtime tracking working. Linux and Mac need no Steam changes.
  3. Start the game. SMAPI opens a console window next to it. Type a command there, not in the game’s chat, and press Enter. help lists every command, including commands added by your other mods.

Stardew Valley money and item cheats

What you want No mods (chat) SMAPI console Notes
Set your gold /money 100000 player_setmoney 100000 Both set your total to the number you type. Neither adds to it
1,000,000 gold /debug gold debug gold Adds one million gold
Item by ID /debug item (O)337 50 player_add (O)337 50 50 Iridium Bars. The optional third number is quality
Item by name – player_add name "Galaxy Sword" Uses the item’s in-game name, in quotes if it has spaces
Every item, free /debug iq ALL_ITEMS debug iq ALL_ITEMS Opens a shop menu where everything costs nothing. Add a type such as (W) for weapons to narrow it
Find an item ID /debug getIndex prisma list_items iridium getIndex returns the qualified ID of the best match. list_items prints every match with its ID
Bigger backpack /debug backpack 12 debug backpack 12 Adds slots, up to the 36-slot maximum

Item quality is 0 for normal, 1 for silver, 2 for gold and 4 for iridium (the wiki and PC Gamer both list those four values). So player_add name "Stir Fry" 10 4 gives you ten iridium-quality Stir Fry, according to the wiki’s own example. Item IDs carry a type prefix: (O) for objects, (W) for weapons, (T) for tools, and (F) for furniture. Plain numbers like 337 also work for objects.

Skills, recipes, health and stamina cheats

Command What it does Caveats
/debug cooking Teaches every cooking recipe
/debug crafting Teaches every crafting recipe
/debug levelup 0 10 Shows the level-up screen for a skill: 0 Farming, 1 Fishing, 2 Foraging, 3 Mining, 4 Combat PC Gamer says it raises your level. The wiki says it unlocks that level’s recipes and lets you pick a profession, but doesn’t change the skill level or your XP
player_sethealth 200 / player_setmaxhealth 500 Current or maximum health (SMAPI) Max health is permanent. Later boosts add on top
player_setstamina 200 / player_setmaxstamina 500 Current or maximum energy (SMAPI) Max stamina is permanent too
/debug speed 5 600 Gives a speed buff The wiki counts the duration in in-game minutes (default 30), while PC Gamer says seconds

One out-of-date command: some lists still include player_setimmunity, and the wiki’s console page still documents it. SMAPI’s release notes say it was removed in SMAPI 4.0.0 (March 19, 2024) because it “broke in 1.6”.

Time, season and mine level commands

SMAPI console No mods (chat) What it does
world_settime 0600 /debug time 0600 Sets the clock. Stardew counts from 0600 (6am) to 2600 (2am), so 1430 is 2:30pm
world_freezetime 1 /debug pausetime Freezes time (world_freezetime 0 resumes it). The debug version is a toggle, and you can still walk around
– /debug addhour / /debug addminute Moves the clock forward 1 hour or 10 minutes
world_setday 28 /debug day 28 Sets the day of the month
world_setseason summer – spring, summer, fall or winter
world_setyear 2 – Sets the year
world_setminelevel 80 – Warps you to that mine level. The wiki adds that levels above 120 are Skull Cavern
world_downminelevel – Goes down one level, or to level 1 if you’re not in the mines
world_clear current debris – Removes sticks, stones and weeds from where you stand. Other types include crops, trees, grass and furniture

Farm, animal and fishing cheats

Command (add / in chat) What it does Caveats
debug houseupgrade 2 Sets your farmhouse level (0 to 3) Furniture isn’t moved, so pieces can end up out of bounds
debug renovate Opens the farmhouse renovation menu
debug setupbigfarm Builds Deluxe Coops and Barns full of animals, a mill, stable and silo, plus crops and fruit trees The wiki says it clears your farm first. Only use it on a test save
debug animal Goat Adds a baby animal of that type with a random name Run it outside the building, according to the wiki
debug befriendanimals Sets friendship of the animals in your current location (default 1000, the max) Stand in the coop or barn
debug growanimals Turns the animals in your current location into adults
debug catchallfish Marks every fish as caught in your collection debug clearfishcaught undoes it

Villager, romance and warp cheats

Command (add / in chat) What it does Caveats
debug friendall Adds 2,500 friendship points (10 hearts) with every villager Normal caps apply, so a bachelor or bachelorette you aren’t dating stops at 8 hearts
debug dating Abigail Sets your status with that villager to Dating Exact name
debug marry Abigail Marries you to that villager, with today as your anniversary The wiki says to run debug houseupgrade 1 first if you haven’t upgraded your house
debug makeex Abigail Sets your status to Divorced
debug warphome Warps you to your bed
debug warpshop robin Warps you to that villager’s shop pierre, robin, krobus, sandy, marnie, clint, gus, willy, pam, dwarf or wizard

The wiki has a warning above its debug list: these commands “are meant for the game developers, not players” and may crash the game or permanently break a save. Make a fresh copy of your save folder before you try anything like setupbigfarm, marry or regenerate_bundles. SMAPI also keeps a daily backup of your saves in Mods/SaveBackup.

Stardew Valley cheats on Switch, PS4, Xbox and mobile

There’s no cheat route on consoles. The wiki’s modding FAQ lists Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS Vita and Xbox One as having no mod support, so SMAPI is out. The chat cheats depend on editing a save file, and the wiki’s Saves page says you can only reach Switch saves with custom firmware. When 1.6.9 came out, GamesRadar+ reported “no word yet on how – or if – console players will be able to enable cheats”. We found no later change.

On mobile, the same FAQ lists iOS as having no mod support. Android is listed as “most mods supported”, and the wiki has a separate SMAPI install guide for it, which this guide doesn’t cover. None of our sources confirms that the save-file chat cheats work on phones, so treat both methods as PC-only.

Do Stardew Valley cheats disable achievements?

For SMAPI, no. The wiki’s FAQ says Steam achievements “work fine, as long as you launch SMAPI through Steam”, and smapi.io says SMAPI is compatible with both GOG and Steam achievements. For the chat cheats, neither the 1.6.9 patch notes nor the wiki says anything about turning achievements off. That’s different from GTA 5’s cheats, which switch off Trophies and Achievements for the session. The debug list also has a command that hands out Steam achievements directly. We’ve left it out.

What about the old item-name trick?

Older guides describe a trick where your farmer’s name spawns items whenever a villager says it. The wiki’s Secrets page calls it an exploit, so we don’t cover it here, and we don’t cover duplication glitches either. Since the 1.5 update, adding item codes to your name at the Shrine of Illusions triggers joke messages from ConcernedApe and Mr. Qi.

Will these cheats work in Stardew Valley 1.7?

We can’t say yet. ConcernedApe has said 1.7 will “probably” come out in 2027, but there’s no date. Our Stardew Valley 1.7 update guide tracks what he has confirmed. SMAPI states which game versions each release supports (4.5.2 needs 1.6.14 or later), so check smapi.io before you play 1.7 with mods. Want something new to play while you wait? See our games like Stardew Valley list. For a festival without any cheats, our Spirit’s Eve maze guide shows the route to the Golden Pumpkin. If you like this kind of command table, the Witcher 3 console commands guide covers that game’s debug console.

FAQ

How do you enable cheats in Stardew Valley?

On PC, back up your save and open it in a text editor. Change allowChatCheats from false to true, load the farm, press T and type /money or /debug commands. The other option is to install SMAPI and type its commands into the SMAPI console window.

What is the money cheat in Stardew Valley?

/money <amount> in chat once cheats are on, or player_setmoney <amount> with SMAPI. Both set your total gold, so /money 50000 leaves you with exactly 50,000g. /debug gold gives you one million.

Are there Stardew Valley cheats for Switch, PS4 or Xbox?

No. Consoles have no mod support, so SMAPI is out, and the chat cheats need a save file you can edit. According to the wiki, you can only reach Switch saves with custom firmware. None of our sources lists a console method.

How do I spawn items in Stardew Valley?

Use /debug item <ID> [amount] [quality] in chat or player_add in SMAPI. /debug iq ALL_ITEMS opens a free shop with every item. To find an item’s ID, use /debug getIndex <name> or SMAPI’s list_items.

Does SMAPI’s Console Commands mod come with SMAPI?

Yes. The SMAPI installer adds Console Commands and Save Backup to your Mods folder. You don’t need a separate download for the commands in this guide.
