How The Sims 4 Marketplace works: EA’s Moola price list, 12 Maker Pack prices checked Nov 2, and EA’s fixes for Maker Packs that are not showing up.

Sims 4 Maker Packs are paid custom content sets made by EA-approved creators (“Makers”) and sold only inside The Sims 4 Marketplace, for Moola, a virtual currency you buy with real money. On EA’s US web store every Maker Pack we checked costs 200, 300 or 500 Moola, which is $1.99, $2.99 or $4.99 when you use the Marketplace “Buy” button. If a pack you bought isn’t showing up, EA’s first two checks are to go online and look under My Collection > Manage Storage.

This guide covers how the Marketplace works, EA’s Moola price list, a price table for 12 Maker Packs (checked November 2, 2026 UTC), and the fixes for packs that won’t appear or a Marketplace that won’t load. Fixes from EA come first. Community fixes are labelled as such.

Quick answer

  • What it is: the official in-game store for The Sims 4. It sells Maker Packs, Kits, and Expansion, Game and Stuff Packs, in-game, on the web and in the EA app.
  • Maker Pack prices: 200 to 500 Moola in our sample of 12 packs. EA says a pack holds 3 to 50 items, and the Maker picks the size and price from a range EA sets.
  • Moola prices (EA’s list, USD): 200 for $1.99, 500 for $4.99, 1,000 for $9.99, 2,600 for $24.99 and 5,500 for $49.99. Prices vary by region and platform.
  • Free? No. EA says Moola can’t be earned in gameplay, and Moola purchases can’t be refunded, gifted or transferred.
  • Restart needed? Not for Maker Packs or Kits, though you may need to exit to the Main Menu and reload. Expansion, Game and Stuff Packs do need a restart.
  • Pack not showing up: go online, check My Collection > Manage Storage, turn the pack on in Pack Selection for that save, then search with the Maker Packs filter in Create a Sim or Build Mode.
  • Marketplace images not loading: EA’s fix is the cheat clearonlinethumbnailcache true.

How does the Sims 4 Marketplace work?

EA launched the Marketplace and The Sims Maker Program with the March 17, 2026 update on PC and Mac. Consoles got it soon after: Push Square reported on April 17 that console version 2.31 brought the Marketplace to PlayStation. EA’s Marketplace FAQ, last updated October 5, 2026, sets out the rules:

  • Maker Packs are sets of Create a Sim and/or Build/Buy items made by an accepted Maker. EA says every pack is reviewed by a person before release.
  • Kits are now sold in the Marketplace for Moola on PC, Mac and consoles. Kits you owned before March 17, 2026 stay in your library.
  • Expansion, Game and Stuff Packs are also listed, but you buy them with normal money through your platform’s store, not with Moola.
  • For the first time, PlayStation and Xbox players can use official custom content in-game.
  • The Gallery and free base game updates continue as before. Makers can still post free custom content elsewhere under EA’s mod policy, but content released elsewhere can’t be sold in the Marketplace.

The March 17 update also moved Pack Select out of Game Options. It now sits under My Collection in the Marketplace. There you choose which content each save uses and manage the storage of downloaded Maker Packs and newly bought Kits.

Sims 4 Moola prices

The FAQ lists five Moola bundles. The checkout prices for the same bundles on EA’s web store for PC & Mac (US) match. EA Play members see about 10% less there. EA’s FAQ confirms that eligible EA Play members get a Moola discount, and the store notes that it can’t be combined with Stack & Save.

Moola Price (USD, EA) EA Play price on EA’s web store
200 $1.99 $1.79
500 $4.99 $4.49
1,000 $9.99 $8.99
2,600 $24.99 $22.49
5,500 $49.99 $44.99

Since the June 30, 2026 update, the Marketplace “Buy” button gets you the nearest amount of Moola for the item you picked. A 300-Moola Maker Pack therefore costs $2.99 at checkout. That update added nine more Moola amounts (300, 400, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1,100, 1,200 and 1,300). Quick Buy reached PlayStation with the July 21 update. Console prices can differ. Push Square listed 200 Moola at $2.49 on the PlayStation Store in April.

Moola rules from EA’s FAQ:

  • Moola works within one platform family. Moola bought in the EA app also works on Steam and Epic Games, but it doesn’t move between PlayStation and Xbox.
  • You can’t earn Moola in gameplay, and it can’t be refunded, traded, transferred or gifted.
  • Maker Packs and Kits bought with Moola can’t be gifted to other players.

Sims 4 Maker Pack prices (checked November 2, 2026)

EA’s store pages list a price in Moola, the Maker and the item count for each pack. Here are the packs from EA’s “Meet the Maker Packs” article (August 31) and the October Halloween drops. The US dollar figure is what the “Buy” button charges for that exact amount of Moola.

The price doesn’t follow the item count: Sweet Summer has 9 items for 200 Moola, while Musical Note Collection has 3 for 300. Check the “Included Items” tab before you buy. On what Makers earn, EA says a Maker takes home about 30% of the Moola from their pack sales, roughly 30 US cents for every 100 Moola spent. EA covers platform fees, taxes and translation into the game’s 18 languages.

Are Sims 4 Maker Packs free?

No. A Maker Pack costs Moola, and Moola can only be bought. EA does sometimes give items away through the Marketplace. The Coach Repurposed Capsule was free from July 28 to October 28, 2026, and that window has now closed. Sites offering “free Maker Pack downloads” are not EA, so skip them. Pirated packs and DLC unlockers break EA’s User Agreement, and we don’t link to them. For free custom content, look at a creator’s own free releases, which EA’s mod policy still allows.

How to buy and use a Maker Pack

  1. Open the Marketplace from the game, from EA’s web store or from the EA app. On the web store, set your platform first, because purchases are platform-specific.
  2. Pick a pack and press Buy. That buys the Moola and spends it in one step. You can also spend Moola already in your wallet, shown as a gold coin in the top right of the Main Menu and the Marketplace.
  3. The pack downloads on demand. EA says Maker Packs and Kits don’t need a restart, but you may need to exit to the Main Menu and reload your save.
  4. In Create a Sim or Build Mode, use the Maker Packs filter to find the new items.

Sims 4 Maker Packs not showing up: EA’s fixes

These steps come from EA Help’s Marketplace article and Moola article, plus the patch notes. Work through them in order.

  1. Go online. If you play offline, EA says a recent Marketplace purchase may not appear until you connect.
  2. Check it’s installed: Marketplace > My Collection > Manage Storage. Download it from there if it isn’t.
  3. Reload: exit to the Main Menu and load the save again. If you bought an Expansion, Game or Stuff Pack, restart the game.
  4. Turn it on for this save: Pack Selection under My Collection works per save, so a pack can be enabled in one save and missing from another. EA’s pack guide says to back up saves and disable mods before changing packs. It also warns that switching a pack off removes its content from that save.
  5. Search with the Maker Packs filter in Create a Sim or Build Mode, not by scrolling.
  6. Check the account and platform. Make sure you’re signed in to the EA Account you bought with and that the purchase was made for the platform you play on. Moola doesn’t cross platform families.
  7. Restart your PC, Mac or console, sign out of the platform and back in, then launch the game again.
  8. Check your EA order history if you paid real money, to confirm the purchase went through.
  9. Contact EA if it’s still missing. Have your EA Account email, platform, platform ID, time zone and the pack name ready. EA Help says Marketplace purchases are non-refundable, though it may make exceptions.

Community fixes (unofficial, results vary): on the EA Forums, one player whose Maker Packs showed in only one save fixed it by signing out, relinking the EA account in-game and downloading the missing pack again. Other players report success from uninstalling the missing packs and reinstalling them one at a time, while some say that didn’t help. Back up your saves (or upload households and lots to the Gallery) before trying anything drastic.

Sims 4 Marketplace not loading or not working

  • Clear the Marketplace image cache. The August 25, 2026 update added an image cache. If Marketplace images misbehave, EA’s fix is to open the cheat console (Ctrl+Shift+C on PC and Mac; see our Sims 4 cheats guide for console controls) and enter clearonlinethumbnailcache true. On PC and Mac the cache folder is DocumentsElectronic ArtsThe Sims 4onlinethumbnailcache. It is capped at 250 MB and clears out unused images 14 days after your last Marketplace visit.
  • Update the game. EA has fixed several Marketplace bugs in patches. The May 12 and August 25 updates fixed controller scrolling getting stuck, including an “invisible Marketplace” that blocked the Main Menu. The June 30 update stopped Xbox players being asked to restart when they bought Moola after downloading another pack. The September 22 update fixed an error after buying the Comfy Gamer Kit. The latest is the October 27 update, version 1.129 (our patch notes summary).
  • Rule out mods. Outdated script mods are a common cause of UI problems after a patch. EA’s pack guide also says to disable mods before changing packs. Check our list of broken mods after patch 1.129 and the current MCCC version before blaming the Marketplace.
  • Moola missing after buying on PlayStation: EA’s April 28 notes say a launch-week backend issue hid some PlayStation Moola purchases. EA fixed it, and missing purchases appear the next time you play. If yours is still missing, use the account and platform checks above.

FAQ

Do Sims 4 Maker Packs work on console?

Yes. EA says Maker Packs reach PC, Mac, PlayStation and Xbox through the in-game Marketplace, and that publishing there lets Makers reach players across PC, Mac and consoles. Your Moola balance stays with the platform family you bought it on.

Can I buy Moola on Steam and use it in the EA app?

Yes. EA’s example is that Moola bought on the EA app also works when you play on Steam or Epic Games, because they’re the same PC platform family.

Can I get a refund on Moola or a Maker Pack?

EA’s FAQ says Moola is not refundable. EA Help says Maker Packs and Kits bought in the Marketplace are non-refundable, although it may make exceptions, so contact EA if a purchase is broken.

Can I make my own Maker Packs?

Only through the Maker Program. EA requires applicants to be 18 or older, proficient in English, in good standing with EA’s User Agreement and outside EA-embargoed regions. Applicants also have to pass a technical evaluation by submitting two assets.
