The Sims 4’s free October 27 update (PC 1.129.39.1030, console 2.40) adds Elder CAS and Build items, weight and muscle toggles, a food overhaul and 150+ fixes.

The Sims 4 October 2026 update is out now on PC, Mac and consoles. EA released it on October 27 as a free base-game patch: PC version 1.129.39.1030, Mac 1.129.39.1230 and console version 2.40. It adds free Elder-themed Create a Sim and Build Mode items, new on/off switches for weight and muscle changes, a food and dining overhaul and, according to EA’s official patch notes, more than 150 bug fixes.

EA’s notes give the date but no rollout time. The official @TheSims account posted the notes at 17:35 UTC on October 27. To get the update, let the EA app or Steam patch the game on PC and Mac, or download the update on PlayStation or Xbox before you launch.

Free Elder items: new CAS and Build Mode content

The biggest free addition is a set of classic Elder looks. In Create a Sim there are two new hairstyles (Quiff Side Part and Half-Down Waves), four new clothing items (Polo Shirt with Cardigan, Long Dress with Lace and Buttons, Sleeveless Blouse, Long Skirt with Pockets) and five recolored pieces, including the Granny Dress and Open Cardigan.

Build Mode gets 11 vintage-style objects, among them The Needlepoint Nook Chair, The Floral Fossil sofa, The Early Bird Bed, The Glowlden Goose table light, three sizes of Heritage Home Drapery, the Granny’s Roost Rug and the Bloom & Gingham Delight wallpaper. EA also added a new Styled Room, four Elder Styled Looks in CAS and, per the notes, a matching four-Sim household on the Gallery.

New body toggles: turn off weight and muscle changes

Two new Game Options, Allow Weight Changes and Allow Muscle Changes, switch body changes on or off for every Sim in a save. A new Sim Physique self-interaction does the same for one Sim at a time. EA says the two settings work independently, so you can keep weight changes while blocking muscle gain, but they don’t apply to cats, dogs or horses. Separate fixes also stop extreme muscle gain or weight loss from free weights (Adventure Awaits) and sword fighting (Royalty & Legacy).

Food overhaul: prices, calories, leftovers and Family Recipes

  • Fridge: “Open” now sits on the front of the fridge pie menu instead of under More Choices.
  • Prices and calories: EA re-tuned every food and drink item across the base game and all packs so the numbers are consistent.
  • Leftovers: hungry Sims should now prefer eating leftovers from the fridge or counter over cooking a new meal.
  • Family Recipes (Businesses & Hobbies): more than 375 existing dishes from the base game and packs can now be Family Recipes.
  • Baking (Get to Work): a new “Quickly Decorate” option for baked goods that aren’t in the middle of a counter, which used to make Sims fail to route.

Outside the kitchen, televisions can now be locked to specific Sims like computers, self-interactions move into a new “Sim Options…” pie menu, and save backups track more reliably after long breaks.

Biggest bug fixes in the patch notes

EA lists fixes for an endless loading screen when placing lots after heavy use of the Move Objects cheat, an infinite white screen on some saves, and Sims freezing after naps or while planning routes. Restaurant Sims should also stop leaving their tables to jog, hug, dig in the trash or do homework. On consoles, PlayStation gets a crash fix at the main menu and faster loading from Live Mode to Build Mode.

Will the October update break my mods?

EA doesn’t call any mods broken, but its notes say many of the top crash reports are “closely linked to outdated or conflicting mod files.” The team recommends its Mods & Game Updates Guide on the EA Forums before you update. EA also warns that a footprint fix could delete some restaurant tables placed with Move Objects in old builds. Mod users should check for updated versions before loading an important save.

What’s next

This patch delivers the “Laundry List” EA previewed on October 20, and the team says it will keep targeting crashes using submitted crash data. No date has been given for the next monthly update.
