Is GTA 6 on PS4, Xbox One, PC or Switch 2? Every Platform

GTA 6 is on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only from Nov 19: not on PS4, Xbox One, PC or Switch 2. PS Store lists it as PS5 Pro Enhanced; Series S is supported.

Is GTA 6 on PS4? No. Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026 on two platforms only: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That rules out PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch 2 at launch. Rockstar hasn’t announced any of those versions. PS5 Pro and Xbox Series S are both covered, though: the PlayStation Store lists the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced, and the Microsoft Store sells one version for Series X and Series S together.

Every platform below comes from Rockstar’s own pages and the two console stores, not from leaks or retailer guesses. For the PC situation in full, see our GTA 6 PC release date explainer. This page covers everything else.

Quick answer (official pages checked November 5, 2026, 10:45 UTC):

  • Yes: PS5, PS5 Pro (listed as “PS5 Pro Enhanced”), Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S.
  • No: PS4 and Xbox One. Sony’s GTA VI page says it plainly: “The game is not playable on PlayStation 4.”
  • Not announced: PC and Switch 2. Neither store nor Rockstar lists them.
  • Streaming from your own PS5: the PS Store lists “Remote Play supported”, so a PS5 owner can stream it to a PlayStation Portal, phone, PC or Mac.
  • Not announced either: frame rates, resolutions and what the PS5 Pro version actually improves.

GTA 6 platforms: every system at a glance

Platform GTA 6 at launch? What the official source says
PlayStation 5 Yes, November 19 Rockstar and the PS Store both list PS5
PS5 Pro Yes, enhanced PS Store: “PS5 Pro Enhanced” (details not announced)
Xbox Series X Yes, November 19 Rockstar: “PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S consoles”
Xbox Series S Yes, November 19 Microsoft Store: “Optimized for Xbox Series X|S”
PS4 / PS4 Pro No Sony: “The game is not playable on PlayStation 4.”
Xbox One No The Microsoft Store listing covers Xbox Series X|S only
PC Not announced No PC version on Rockstar’s site or store
Nintendo Switch 2 Not announced No Nintendo platform on Rockstar’s GTA VI pages
PlayStation Portal, phones, PC/Mac via Remote Play Streamed from a PS5 PS Store: “Remote Play supported”

Rockstar’s own GTA VI site gives you two platform choices, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its November 3 Newswire post on pre-loading says the same thing: “The arrival of Grand Theft Auto VI on PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S consoles is now only a few weeks away.” The Rockstar Store sells the game for the same two consoles and nothing else. The site also shows a “Plays best on PlayStation 5” badge. That’s a marketing label. It doesn’t mean any content is missing on Xbox.

Is GTA 6 on PS4?

No, and Sony has said so in writing. The GTA VI page on PlayStation.com lists the game as “Available on PS5” and adds: “The game is not playable on PlayStation 4.” The PlayStation Store listing shows PS5 as the only platform, for both the Standard Edition ($79.99) and the Ultimate Edition ($99.99) in the US. There’s no PS4 version, no PS4 disc and no PS4-to-PS5 upgrade, because there’s nothing to upgrade from. The same applies to the PS4 Pro.

There’s one technical exception, and it only helps people who already own a PS5. Sony’s Remote Play page says you can “stream your PS5 games to another PS5 or PS4 console with your DualSense controller via a home broadband wired network”, using the same PlayStation account on both. The PS Store marks GTA VI as “Remote Play supported”. So a second-room PS4 could show the game streamed from your PS5, but the PS5 is still the console running it. Without a PS5, a PS4 can’t play GTA 6 in any form.

Can you play GTA 6 on PlayStation Portal?

Yes, as a stream from your own PS5. Sony’s Remote Play page says a PS5 is required when you use the PlayStation Portal. It also lists PC, Mac, iOS, Android and Android TV devices as Remote Play screens. Sony asks for a broadband connection of at least 5Mbps and recommends 15Mbps or faster.

Is GTA 6 enhanced for PS5 Pro?

Yes, according to the store. Both the PlayStation Store listing and Sony’s GTA VI page show the label “PS5 Pro Enhanced” for Grand Theft Auto VI.

What the label doesn’t tell you is what changes. Sony’s PS5 Pro page says developers can use the console for “advanced ray tracing, super sharp image clarity for your 4K TV, and high frame rate gameplay”. Its footnote adds that these features are “only available on select PS5 games that have been enhanced for PS5 Pro” and that “PS5 Pro enhanced features will vary by game.” Rockstar hasn’t said which of these GTA 6 uses. It also hasn’t announced any graphics modes, frame rate or resolution for PS5 Pro or any other console. Treat any “GTA 6 PS5 Pro fps” number you see as unofficial until Rockstar or Sony publishes one.

There’s also no separate PS5 Pro version to buy. The PS Store sells the same Standard and Ultimate editions whether you own a PS5 or a PS5 Pro. If you want GTA-themed hardware, Sony has two Limited Edition GTA VI DualSense controllers, and our GTA 6 controller guide covers both colors.

Is GTA 6 on Xbox One?

No. The Microsoft Store listing lists Xbox Series X|S as the only platform. It has no Xbox One version and no PC version. Rockstar describes the launch as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. The Xbox Series S page points out that Xbox One games and accessories carry over to the newer consoles, but that only works one way: GTA 6 won’t run on an Xbox One.

Does GTA 6 work on Xbox Series S?

Yes. There’s a single Microsoft Store listing for “Xbox Series X|S” with the capability “Optimized for Xbox Series X|S”, so Series S owners buy the same game as Series X owners. In the US that’s $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. For other countries, see our GTA 6 editions and pre-order guide.

Three things matter more on a Series S than on any other console:

  • No disc drive. Microsoft calls the Series S “all-digital”. That doesn’t stop you buying a physical copy. Rockstar’s store FAQ says the boxed version “will only contain a download code” and “a disc will not be included in the box”. You need an internet connection and a platform account to download it.
  • Storage. Xbox’s spec page lists 512GB on the Robot White model and 1TB on the Carbon Black and 1TB Robot White models. PlayStation tells PS5 owners to clear “a minimum of 212GB”, which gives you a sense of scale. A 512GB Series S fills up fast. Our GTA 6 storage guide explains how much room to free up on Xbox and where the game can run from.
  • Performance. Rockstar hasn’t published a frame rate or resolution for Series S, Series X or any other console. “Optimized for Xbox Series X|S” is Microsoft’s label for games built for the current consoles. It’s not a performance promise.

Series S storage can be expanded. Xbox lists support for 1TB Storage Expansion Cards, which “match internal storage performance”, and for USB 3.1 external hard drives. Our storage guide explains which of the two GTA 6 can run from.

Is GTA 6 on PC?

Not at launch, and no PC version has been announced. Rockstar’s site, its store, the PS Store and the Microsoft Store list consoles only. The question of when GTA 6 could reach PC, and what Take-Two has said about it, is covered in our GTA 6 PC release date guide. We’ll update both pages if Rockstar announces a PC version.

Is GTA 6 on Nintendo Switch 2?

No Switch 2 version has been announced. Rockstar’s GTA VI pages and its GTA VI store listing name no Nintendo platform. The only systems Rockstar names are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The original Switch isn’t announced either. If Rockstar or Nintendo announces a version, it will appear on Rockstar’s site and Newswire first, and we’ll add it here.

When can you play on each platform?

All supported consoles get the game on the same day, November 19, 2026, and digital pre-orders can be pre-loaded from November 10. PlayStation says PS5 pre-loading starts “at midnight local time”. Unlock times by region and console, plus the Xbox pre-load hour, are in our GTA 6 release time and pre-load guide. Our GTA 6 countdown tracks the days left.

FAQ

Is GTA 6 coming to PS4 later?

Nothing official suggests it. Sony’s GTA VI page says “The game is not playable on PlayStation 4”, and Rockstar has only ever named PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Will GTA 6 run on Xbox Series S?

Yes. The Microsoft Store sells one version for Xbox Series X|S, marked “Optimized for Xbox Series X|S”. Frame rate and resolution haven’t been announced.

Is GTA 6 PS5 Pro enhanced?

Yes. The PlayStation Store and Sony’s GTA VI page both list it as “PS5 Pro Enhanced”. Neither Rockstar nor Sony has said what the enhancement includes.

Is GTA 6 on PC or Switch 2?

Not announced. At launch, GTA 6 is on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only.

Do I need a disc drive for the physical copy?

No. Rockstar says the physical version contains only a download code, with no disc, so it works on disc-free consoles such as the Xbox Series S. You need an internet connection and a platform account.
