Monster Hunter Outlanders is live. The servers opened on October 28 at 22:00 UTC (3 PM PT, 6 PM ET, 7 AM JST on October 29) on iOS and Android. On launch day the most useful things to do are picking the right server, finishing the full download, and claiming the free recruitment items that the launch events hand out. This Monster Hunter Outlanders beginner guide covers those first steps, the eight weapons, how the gacha and the premium currency work, and which phones run it. Everything comes from the developer’s launch notes and the store listings.

Quick answer: what to do first in Monster Hunter Outlanders
- Pick your server carefully. Launch servers are North America, Japan and Europe, and the official notes say server data “cannot be transferred between regions”.
- Download every resource pack. The full client is about 16 GB on Android and 20 GB on iOS. The launch rewards are only claimable once the whole download is done.
- Reach Adventurer Level 4 to get 5 Featured Contracts from your mailbox. This is the bonus the developer added after the game hit No. 1 in the App Store charts.
- Do Beginner’s Recruitment first. It guarantees an SSR Adventurer within 50 pulls, and 10-pulls cost 20% fewer Standard Contracts.
- Log in every day until November 27 for Departure Gifts (10 Featured Contracts), and push your Adventure Rank for three more free Adventurers.
- No official codes yet. The official account had posted no redeem codes as of October 29, 15:20 UTC.

Monster Hunter Outlanders launch time in your time zone
TiMi Studio Group and Level Infinite opened the servers at 22:00 UTC on October 28, according to the official launch announcement. That was already October 29 in Asia and Australia, which is why the stores show an October 29 date.
| Region | Servers opened |
|---|---|
| US West (PT) | Wednesday, Oct 28, 3:00 PM |
| US East (ET) | Wednesday, Oct 28, 6:00 PM |
| UK (GMT) | Wednesday, Oct 28, 10:00 PM |
| Central Europe (CET) | Wednesday, Oct 28, 11:00 PM |
| India (IST) | Thursday, Oct 29, 3:30 AM |
| Singapore, Philippines, Hong Kong | Thursday, Oct 29, 6:00 AM |
| Japan (JST) | Thursday, Oct 29, 7:00 AM |
| Sydney (AEDT) | Thursday, Oct 29, 9:00 AM |
Mainland China isn’t part of this launch. Its version is planned “from 2027 onwards”, according to the official account.
Which server should you pick?
The global version from Level Infinite has three launch servers: North America, Japan and Europe. Choose the one where your friends play, because the launch notes are clear that progress stays on the server where you made it. Co-op Squads and guilds are a big part of the first month (see the events table below), so starting on a different server from your group costs you rewards.
Southeast Asia is handled differently. Garena publishes its own version in Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and nearby markets, and Pocket Gamer reports that players there need Garena’s client, with accounts kept separate from the global one.
Download size and device requirements
The App Store download is only 3.6 GB. That’s the starter app: once you log in, the game downloads its resources from the login screen. The official notes give the full client size as about 16 GB on Android and about 20 GB on iOS, and they warn that unpacking needs “slightly higher” space than that. Use Wi-Fi, and let the whole download finish before you play. The launch posts repeat that you must “download all the game resources to claim in-game rewards”.
| Spec | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone / iPad | iOS 15, iPhone 8 Plus or newer, 3 GB RAM | iOS 17, iPhone 13 Pro or newer, 6 GB RAM |
| Android | Android 9, Snapdragon 835 or Dimensity 920, 4 GB RAM | Android 12, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Dimensity 9200, 8 GB RAM |
| Storage (full client) | About 16 GB (Android) / 20 GB (iOS), plus extra room for unpacking | |
On weaker phones, the developer warns of overheating, lag and crashes. If yours runs hot, lower the frame rate and graphics settings.
Free rewards at launch: how many pulls you get
The developer says Season 0, “Twin Suns & Land of Radiance”, hands out enough recruitment items for more than 400 recruits. Seasons last about two months each. The launch events below are where most of those come from. Several of them never expire, so you can work through them at your own pace.

| Surging Lightning | Permanent | Daily and weekly quests build Charge | SSR Luka (Bow), 5 Standard Contracts |
| Rank Rush | Permanent | Raise your Adventurer Rank | SR Ryunosuke (Long Sword), SR Luxheart (Great Sword), 40 Standard Contracts |

| Departure Gifts | Nov 27, 04:59:59 server time | Daily login rewards | 10 Featured Contracts |

| Rutaco’s Rumbling Furnace | End of Season 0 | Daily activities and hunts give Furnace experience | SSR Buddy Kojiro at level 60 |
Add those up and the permanent and launch-window events alone give 65 Standard Contracts and 25 Featured Contracts, plus four free Adventurers (Pyro, Luka, Ryunosuke and Luxheart), on top of Raya from pre-registration. The pre-registration milestones add more: the developer confirmed passing 5 million (5 Standard Contracts and 5,000 Zenny), 10 million (Adventurer Raya) and 15 million (5 Standard Contracts and 20 Primeberry). Check your in-game mailbox for those.
There’s also a Twitch Drops event running until November 26. Watch any Outlanders stream for 15 minutes (5 Dewberry), 30 minutes (2,000 Zenny) and 60 minutes (30 Rutacoins). It only works with Level Infinite accounts.
Monster Hunter Outlanders weapons: all 8 and who uses them
Your own character, the Fated Adventurer, can use every weapon type. The launch build has eight: Great Sword, Long Sword, Dual Blades, Hammer, Lance, Charge Blade, Heavy Bowgun and Bow. The Charge Blade is new since the beta, and more weapon types are planned for later updates, according to the App Store listing. Recruited Adventurers are different: each one is locked to a single weapon and a class (Assault, Support or Disruptor). So the weapons you like decide which Adventurers are worth pulling for.
| Weapon | Adventurers on the official site | Free at launch? |
|---|---|---|
| Great Sword | Pyro (Assault), Luxheart (Disruptor) | Yes, both (Adventurer’s Chronicles, Rank Rush) |
| Long Sword | Midori (Assault), Ryunosuke (Support) | Ryunosuke yes (Rank Rush); Midori is the limited banner |
| Dual Blades | Raya (Disruptor), Keres (Disruptor), Haze (Support) | Raya yes (pre-registration reward) |
| Bow | Luka (Assault), Madelyn (Support) | Luka yes (Surging Lightning) |
| Lance | Arkaya (Support), Ouyang Varen (Assault) | No |
| Hammer | Rhodes (Assault) | No; he has the rotating rate-up banner |
| Heavy Bowgun | Pepper (Disruptor) | No |
| Charge Blade | None listed yet | Fated Adventurer only for now |
Which weapon should beginners use?
No official tier list exists, and the meta will take weeks to settle. What the launch data does show is where the free Adventurers are. Great Sword, Bow, Long Sword and Dual Blades all get at least one free Adventurer in the launch events, so a beginner who mains one of them gets a squad member for that weapon without spending pulls. The official descriptions also hint at playstyles. Pyro “endures attacks” to fuel burst damage. Luka relies on mobility and Thunder Coating arrows. Arkaya’s Lance builds Resolve for “a massive shield”, and Madelyn’s Bow buffs nearby allies with Spores.
Because the Fated Adventurer can switch freely, try two or three weapons in the early quests before you spend upgrade materials on one. Weapons and armor are still crafted from monster materials, not pulled from the gacha.
How the gacha and premium currency work

Recruitment is how you get extra Adventurers. Your gear never comes from it. There are four banners at launch:
- Beginner’s Recruitment (permanent, Standard Contracts): up to 50 recruits, an SSR Adventurer guaranteed within 50, and 10-pulls cost 20% fewer Contracts. Do this one first.
- Featured: Autumn Refrain (until Nov 27, 02:59:59 UTC; that’s 6:59 PM PST on Nov 26): higher odds for the Assault SSR Midori (Long Sword). The developer says she “will not be added to Standard Recruitment in the future”, so this is the window if you want her.
- Rotating: Pounding Smith (until Nov 27, 02:59:59 UTC): higher odds for the Assault SSR Rhodes (Hammer). Unlike Midori, he stays in the Standard pool at normal odds, so there’s less pressure to pull here.
- Standard Recruitment (permanent, Standard Contracts).
The launch notes don’t publish pity counts for the Featured and Standard banners. The closed beta numbers are in our earlier Outlanders guide. Check the in-game rates page before you spend.
| Currency | How you get it | What it’s for |
|---|---|---|
| Crimson Plume Coins | Bought with real money | The premium currency (App Store packs below) |
| Standard Contracts | Events, milestones, Rank Rush | Beginner’s and Standard Recruitment |
| Featured Contracts | Events, login gifts, Level 4 mailbox | Shown with the recruitment items in the official 400+ draws art |
| Rutacoins | Event shops, guild and co-op events, Twitch Drops | Also shown with the recruitment items in the official 400+ draws art |
| Zenny | Hunting, milestones, Twitch Drops | Standard in-game money |
| Companion Coins | Rhythm of Maple only | Maple Vault exchange (until Nov 12) |
The US App Store listing shows these top purchases (checked October 29, 2026 UTC). Apple only lists the top ten, so there may be more.
| Item | US price |
|---|---|
| 60 Crimson Plume Coins | $0.99 |
| 300 Crimson Plume Coins | $4.99 |
| 980 Crimson Plume Coins | $14.99 |
| 1,280 Crimson Plume Coins | $19.99 |
| 1,980 Crimson Plume Coins | $29.99 |
| 6,480 Crimson Plume Coins | $99.99 |
| Subscription | $4.99 |
| Rumbling Harvest Furnace / Rumbling Festival Furnace | $9.99 / $19.99 |
The Furnace purchases look like paid tiers of Rutaco’s Rumbling Furnace, the season track whose free path gives Kojiro at level 60. Google Play lists in-app items from $0.99 to $99.99. The App Store rates the game 16+, and Google Play rates it Teen in the US.
Is Monster Hunter Outlanders on PC? Controller support
There’s no PC, Mac or console version. The App Store lists iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, and the only other official store is Google Play. Controllers are supported now. The official site says “Controller Support: Yes”, and the developer’s launch preview calls it “initial controller support” for Season 0, so expect it to be refined in later updates. To pair a pad, our guide to using a PS4 or other controller on Android and iOS walks through the Bluetooth steps.
What to do after the first day

- Join a guild early. The guild campaign “Hunt as One” runs until November 30, with server-wide guild-rank goals (500,000 and 1,000,000) that unlock a sticker and a title for everyone. Guild members raise the rank by doing Daily Supplies.
- Set up a Co-op Squad with friends before November 13. Its Journey Quests can only be finished once.
- Spend Companion Coins before November 12, 14:59 UTC. The Maple Vault holds the 750 Rutacoins. You don’t need Midori to take part.
- Try the repeatable modes as you unlock them: Radiant Hunt, Bounty Contest, Marathon Hunt, Arena and Guild Clash, plus a seasonal Apex Challenge.
- Keep the Furnace ticking. Daily activities feed Rutaco’s Rumbling Furnace, and Kojiro sits at level 60 this season.
