Virtual Families 3: How to Make Money Fast + Best Careers

Virtual Families 3 family celebrating a marriage at the kitchen island with a cake and gifts, a kitchen work area behind them
Written by Nora

The best mobile careers reach about 6,000 coins a day at Master. Salary curves by level, career room upgrades, marriage tips and every extra coin source.

The fastest way to make money in Virtual Families 3 is to put your adults in a high-paying career, keep them working at their workstations with praise and treats, and buy career room upgrades as early as you can afford them. That’s also the order Last Day of Work, the developer, gives in its official Careers & Earning Money help article. Goals, duplicate collectibles, random events and the Free Coins button add smaller amounts on top.

This guide answers one question: how to grow your family’s coins quickly, without mods or glitches. The career pay numbers below come from a community salary spreadsheet for the mobile version (iOS and Android), checked on October 29, 2026. For the house’s backstory, see our Virtual Families 3 ghost girl guide.

Quick answer

  • Pick the career at adoption. The adoption certificate shows the profession and salary, and “Try Again” rolls a new little person. The best mobile careers pay about 6,000 coins a day at Master level; the weakest stop near 3,100-3,900.
  • Make them work. Adults get their daily salary in 24 hourly payments either way. Working adds coins for every successful work cycle and is the only way to earn promotions.
  • Praise and feed them while they work. Use the green glove and give candy and fruit, but don’t spam the glove, or they get annoyed.
  • Buy career room upgrades first. They’re in the Career section of the store and speed up promotions.
  • Marry inside the same career room. Two kitchen workers, for example, both benefit from every kitchen upgrade.
  • Extras: complete Goals, sell duplicate collectibles and furniture you don’t need, and take the good random events.
  • Skip the gamble careers. The developer warns that stock trading and lotto careers can lose pay after a promotion.

How do you make money fast in Virtual Families 3?

Start with the basics. In Virtual Families 3 every adult has a career tied to a room: the kitchen work area, the office computers, or the workshop tables. Last Day of Work’s help center explains that working adults “automatically earn their daily salary”, split into 24 hourly payments, even if they never touch their workstation. You can leave the game closed and still get paid. Working is what makes them richer, though:

  1. Each successful work cycle pays a few extra coins, and the bonus grows with the salary. The Virtual Families fan wiki puts a cycle at about a tenth of the salary. That figure describes the series in general and may not be exact for VF3.
  2. Career progress only moves while they’re working. No work, no promotions, and promotions are where the big money is (see the table below).
  3. Sick, hungry or babysitting adults work less. The help center says a little person who is sick or hungry, or who is caring for a baby, makes less career progress. Keep the fridge stocked and fix broken things in the house quickly.

To start a work session, drop the adult on their workstation. Praise them with the green glove at the top left and give candy or fruit while they work. If a cycle fails (a puff of smoke and a head shake), the community spreadsheet’s advice is simply to drop them back on the station.

Best paying careers in Virtual Families 3

Virtual Families 3 careers have 20 levels, and they don’t all grow at the same rate. The developer’s help article says the highest starting salaries “don’t always produce the most income” as levels rise. A community spreadsheet started by Reddit user u/randomnesslololololo (Virtual Families 3 careers and salaries) logs 193 careers. Its notes say the game has six or seven hidden “career curves” (Difficult Start, Money Maker, Bad Job, Entrepreneur, Typical, Gamble). We grouped the mobile salary rows by identical numbers to see which curves pay most. Daily salary by level, in coins:

Example careers (mobile) Room Level 1 Level 5 Level 10 Level 15 Level 20 (Master)

What the table means for your family

  • The 255-to-6,300 workshop curve is the best on paper. It starts highest and ends highest. The catch, according to the spreadsheet notes: workshop careers only show up once you’ve built a Workshop through home renovation, so your first adoptee can’t have one.
  • The 60-coin careers are slow starters, not bad jobs. BBQ Sauce Creator starts at about a third of a Lawyer’s pay. It passes the Lawyer at level 11 (1,350 vs 1,320), passes the Programmer at level 14 (2,565 vs 2,490), and ends almost 2,000 coins a day higher than the Lawyer. If you plan to play for weeks, that’s the kitchen and office career to keep.
  • Skip the careers that top out at 3,900 if you can. Most start at 45 or 105 coins. Leather Tanner (3,100) and Knife Sharpener (3,360) end even lower.
  • Day Trader looks good early and fades. It starts at 180 but ends at 3,825. The developer also warns that stock and lotto careers can go up and down, so a promotion can look like a demotion.

Two more notes from the spreadsheet: people on the internet report that little people “retire” and stop working at level 20, and promotions reportedly speed up after about level 7. Neither is confirmed by the developer.

Does Virtual Families 3 pay less on PC and Switch?

Yes, by a wide margin, according to the same spreadsheet, which keeps separate sheets for PC/console (Steam, Windows, Switch, Xbox) and mobile. Players there log PC/console Master salaries in the hundreds, not thousands. Basket Maker goes from 60 to 300 coins on PC/console, against 105 to 4,800 on mobile. Vitamin Inventor goes from 15 to 690, against 60 to 6,090. The pattern holds on both versions: slow starters end highest. Vitamin Inventor’s 690 at Master is more than double the Basket Maker’s 300 on PC/console. So the tips in this guide apply on every version; only the coin amounts differ. The spreadsheet’s PC/console sheets are less complete, though, so check your own career’s numbers in the game.

Career room upgrades and marriage: double the payoff

The Career section of the store sells career room upgrades. Last Day of Work’s help article says “each career room upgrade speeds up your little person’s progress in their career,” and that you should buy them “as soon as your family can afford them”. Upgrades belong to a room, not a person. That’s why the developer’s best money tip is to marry a little person who works in the same career room as their partner, which “effectively double[s]” every upgrade you buy.

The help center’s family article says how often proposals arrive. The first one comes within about 15 real-time minutes of a new family or generation starting. Reject it and another comes about 45 minutes later; after that, roughly one every 24 hours. Turning down the first offer or two to get a spouse in the same room costs very little time.

Other boosts from the developer and fan guides:

  • Career magazines from the Flea Market and Advanced Career Training in each little person’s “Upgrade Me!” screen also speed up careers. The developer notes that their cost “isn’t always justified for workers with low salaries”, so save them for your high-curve workers.
  • Kids do the chores. The help center says children can pick up socks, wrappers and weeds, so the adults can keep working. A paid maid or gardener does the same job.
  • Don’t let them nap at work. Exhausted little people sleep instead of working. The game runs in real time, so close it for 6-8 hours at night, unpaused, and give everyone a bed.

Other ways to earn coins

Source How it works Best use
Goals Each completed goal pays coins once (Menu, then Goals). Many can be done early, per the developer Your first days, before salaries grow
Duplicate collectibles Children pick up twinkling items in the yard; duplicates can be sold Steady pocket money while the kids are young
Random events Some cost money, but the developer says the ones that pay “more than balance out” Answer events instead of dismissing them
Selling furniture and decor Players in LevelWinner’s guide comments say you sell an item by dragging it outside the gate When you need coins for an upgrade now
Free Coins button Top right of the screen; LevelWinner’s 2021 guide says it gives 200 coins for watching a video ad Early game only; it matters less once salaries pass a few hundred a day
Lottery (Upgrades section) 100 coins per ticket in LevelWinner’s guide; it can pay big or just give groceries Optional; it’s a gamble, not a plan

Are there events right now?

Yes. Last Day of Work runs timed events, which can include special rewards. A Halloween event is live on the Google Play listing as of October 29, 2026: “Spooky surprises are creeping into every room. Collect all the candies and all the rewards from the haunted house.” Google Play lists it as ending on November 3, 2026 at 03:00 UTC. Past events have included a resort renovation event, which the App Store version history says was added in version 2.1.23 (January 31, 2024). The listing doesn’t say the event pays coins, so treat events as a bonus rather than income. The current iOS version is 2.4.9 (August 6, 2026), with only bug fixes and SDK updates in its notes, so the money basics above haven’t changed recently.

Do money cheats or glitches work?

Searches for “Virtual Families 3 unlimited money” mostly lead to modded APKs and so-called glitches. The game has no official cheat codes in the developer’s help center, and modded APKs are unofficial builds from outside the app stores. We don’t link them. The methods above are slower but safe for your save. If you want a life sim with more ways to make money, our lists of games like BitLife and games like The Sims for iOS and Android have more picks. Our complete Virtual Families 3 tips guide covers health, repairs and the rest of the house.

FAQ

Do my little people earn money if they don’t work?

Yes. According to Last Day of Work, working adults get their daily salary in 24 hourly payments even if they don’t work. Working at their station adds extra coins per successful cycle and is the only way to get promoted.

Can you choose a career in Virtual Families 3?

Not directly. The spreadsheet’s author says careers are assigned at random, whether through adoption, an event or the Career Change option. You can reroll with “Try Again” before you adopt, and choose which marriage proposal to accept.

Why did my salary go down after a promotion?

Some careers, such as trading stocks or playing the lotto, are what the developer calls “riskier”: their pay moves up and down between levels. Most other careers pay more with every promotion.

What’s the fastest way to get money at the very start?

Complete the early Goals, use the Free Coins button, have children collect yard items, and keep your first adult working with praise and treats. Spend your first big savings on a career room upgrade for their room, not on decor.
