Fortnite is up: Epic’s status page shows all services operational. The Treasure Hunters downtime is Nov 1; 2026 season launches took 5 to 7 hours offline.

Is Fortnite down right now? No. When we checked Epic’s official status page on October 29, 2026 at 07:03 UTC, it said “All Systems Operational”: no open incidents, and matchmaking, login and the Item Shop were all green. The next big outage is the switch to the Treasure Hunters season on Sunday, November 1, and Epic hasn’t posted that downtime time yet.

This page keeps Fortnite server status in one place. It covers how to check status yourself, when the November 1 downtime is likely to start, and how long Fortnite downtime has lasted in 2026, worked out from Epic’s own status logs.

  • Fortnite server status now: online, with all Fortnite services operational (checked October 29, 07:03 UTC).
  • Next downtime: the v43.00 Treasure Hunters update on November 1. Epic’s Battle Pass page says the current pass “Ends November 1, 2026 Eastern Time”. No start hour is posted yet.
  • When Epic posts the time: going by every update this year, the notice should appear on Epic’s status page about 7 to 14 hours before the downtime starts.
  • How long it lasts: the last three season launches took 5.3 to 6.9 hours. Regular patches took 1.6 to 3.8 hours.
  • Clock change: US clocks go back an hour on the morning of November 1, so “4 AM ET” that day means 09:00 UTC, not the usual 08:00 UTC.

Is Fortnite down right now?

Epic runs an official status page at status.epicgames.com, and it’s the first place to look. Fortnite has its own group of nine services there. This is what they showed at our last check:

Fortnite service Status (Oct 29, 07:03 UTC)
Login Operational
Matchmaking Operational
Game Services Operational
Parties, Friends, and Messaging Operational
Voice Chat Operational
Item Shop Operational
Fortnite Crew Operational
Stats and Leaderboards Operational
Website Operational

LEGO Fortnite and Fortnite Festival have their own entries on the same page. Both were operational too. The last Fortnite incident on Epic’s log was a 23-minute matchmaking problem on September 17. Since then, every time Fortnite went offline was a planned update.

How to check Fortnite server status yourself

  1. Epic’s status page. Each service is listed separately, so you can tell a login outage from a matchmaking one. Planned downtimes appear here as “Scheduled Maintenance”. The page also offers email, SMS, webhook and RSS/Atom alerts under “Subscribe to updates”.
  2. @FortniteStatus on X. Epic’s support account posts downtime times, “servers are back” messages and known issues, often quicker than news sites.
  3. Your platform’s network. If Epic shows green but you still can’t get in, check PlayStation Network status, Xbox status or Nintendo’s network maintenance page. Some outages only hit one console: Epic logged Fortnite login problems on Xbox only (September 16) and on PS4/PS5 only (August 28).

What Epic tells players to do during an outage

Epic’s own incident notes from this year give the practical answers. After matchmaking problems were fixed on September 17, Epic said players “should now be able to get into matches” and that anyone still stuck should “try requeuing again”. After the Xbox login problem on September 16, it warned that “you may be prompted to redownload the game”. Restarting the game after a fix is posted, and waiting out the first few minutes of reconnect traffic, is usually all it takes.

When is the next Fortnite downtime? (November 1, Treasure Hunters)

The current season ends with the Override Battle Pass. Epic’s Battle Pass page says it “Ends November 1, 2026 Eastern Time”. Epic’s Treasure Hunters trailer says “The journey begins November 1!” Our Fortnite One Piece season guide has everything Epic has shown about the new season so far.

The downtime hour isn’t confirmed. As of October 29, 07:03 UTC, Epic’s status page has no Fortnite maintenance scheduled for November 1. The only planned item is an Epic Online Services window on November 10 (more below). Some guide sites mention 2 AM or 4 AM ET, but those are guesses from past patterns, not Epic times. We’ll add the real time here when Epic posts it.

What past season launches tell us

Epic has started new seasons in two ways this year:

  • Early-morning downtime (no live event): v40.00 on March 19 and v42.00 on August 20 both started at 06:00 UTC. For v42.00 Epic wrote: “Scheduled downtime for v42.00 begins at 2 AM ET (6 AM UTC). Matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes prior.”
  • Downtime right after a live event: v41.00 went down at 23:30 UTC on June 5, half an hour after the Shattered live event. Last year’s November 1 season change (v38.00, 2025) worked the same way. The live event started at 11 AM ET, and downtime began at 11:30 AM ET (15:30 UTC).

At our check, Epic’s status page listed no live event or downtime for Override’s last day. If Epic announces an end-of-season event, expect downtime to start soon after the event, not early in the morning.

November 1 time zones: the daylight saving catch

US daylight saving time ends at 2 AM local time on Sunday, November 1. That’s the same morning as the season change. Eastern Time moves from UTC-4 to UTC-5. That’s why UTC times are the safest to go by this week. If Epic uses one of its usual season-launch slots, this is what it would mean where you are. These are conversions, not announcements:

If Epic says… UTC US Pacific UK Central Europe India Sydney
2 AM ET (EST) 07:00 12:00 AM PDT 07:00 08:00 12:30 PM 6:00 PM
4 AM ET (EST) 09:00 1:00 AM PST 09:00 10:00 2:30 PM 8:00 PM

The UK and Europe already changed their clocks on October 25, so only the US times shift on the day.

How long does Fortnite downtime last?

We went through every Fortnite update maintenance Epic logged on its status page in 2026. For each one we measured the time from the scheduled start to the moment Epic marked it “completed”. Servers may open a little before that note, so treat these as the upper end of each wait:

Update Date (2026) Downtime start (UTC) Marked complete (UTC) Length
v42.40 Thu Oct 15 08:00 10:02 2.0 h
v42.30 Thu Oct 1 08:00 10:31 2.5 h
v42.20 Thu Sep 17 08:00 09:53 1.9 h
v42.10 Thu Sep 3 08:00 10:44 2.7 h
v42.00 (new season) Thu Aug 20 06:00 11:31 5.5 h
v41.00 (new season) Fri Jun 5 23:30 06:26 (Jun 6) 6.9 h
v40.40 Thu May 14 08:00 11:20 3.3 h
v40.30 Thu Apr 30 08:00 11:43 3.7 h
v40.00 (new season) Thu Mar 19 06:00 11:15 5.3 h

What the 20 updates since January show:

  • Regular patches start at 4 AM ET (08:00 UTC during US summer time, 09:00 UTC in winter) and usually last about 2 to 3 hours. They often run 20 to 30 minutes past the planned window. v42.40 was booked until 09:30 UTC but was marked complete at 10:02.
  • New seasons take 5 to 7 hours. Epic books a longer window for them (06:00 to 11:00 UTC for v40.00 and v42.00).
  • Matchmaking goes first. Every notice says matchmaking is switched off 30 minutes before downtime, so a match you start inside that half hour won’t find a lobby.
  • Notice time: Epic posted each 2026 downtime 7 to 14 hours ahead. For a November 1 morning downtime, that would most likely mean an announcement on the evening of Saturday, October 31 (UTC).

If you still have Battle Pass levels to finish, don’t leave them for the last hour. Our legit Fortnite XP map codes are the fastest rule-safe way to level up before the pass ends. Our Fortnitemares 2026 guide lists the Halloween quests that are still running.

Other planned Epic maintenance

Epic’s status page also lists an Epic Online Services maintenance on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, 06:00 to 07:30 UTC. Epic says Sessions and Lobbies will have “degraded availability for up to 90 minutes”, and that “existing player sessions will time out and clients will be disconnected”. Epic Online Services runs things like sessions and lobbies for many games, not just Fortnite. Fortnite’s own services aren’t on the affected list. That window is mainly a concern for games built on EOS.

What changes after the downtime

When servers come back on November 1, expect an update download before you can play, then the new season’s content. Our Fortnite Item Shop today page tracks the daily reset (00:00 UTC). The Fortnite Crew November 2026 guide covers the next Crew pack. That pack drops at the monthly Crew reset, separately from the season downtime.

FAQ

Is Fortnite down today?

No, not at our last check (October 29, 2026, 07:03 UTC). Epic’s status page showed all Fortnite services operational and no open incidents. If you can’t connect, check your platform’s network status and @FortniteStatus.

What time does Fortnite go down on November 1?

Epic hasn’t said yet. This year’s season launches started at 06:00 UTC (Mar 19, Aug 20) or right after a live event (Jun 5). Because of the US clock change that morning, a “2 AM ET” start would be 07:00 UTC and “4 AM ET” would be 09:00 UTC.

How long will the Treasure Hunters downtime be?

No length has been announced. The three 2026 season launches took 5.3, 6.9 and 5.5 hours from start to “completed” on Epic’s status page, so plan for a long morning without Fortnite.

Why does Fortnite say servers are offline when the status page is green?

Some problems only hit one platform or region (Epic logged an Xbox-only login issue on September 16 and a Mexico-region one on August 14), or come from PlayStation Network, Xbox or Nintendo services. Check your platform’s status page and restart the game.
