Warzone ends on PS4 and Xbox One when MW4 Season 1 starts: Nov 5, 9 PM PT / Nov 6, 05:00 UTC. Shutdown times by region and what happens to progress.

The Warzone PS4 and Xbox One shutdown arrives this week. Activision’s support page says the battle royale “will no longer be available to play on PlayStation 4 and XBOX One” from Modern Warfare 4 Season 1, and Season 1 goes live at midnight ET on November 6 (9 PM PT on November 5, 05:00 UTC). That makes Thursday, November 5, the last evening to play Warzone on last-gen consoles in the Americas.

Your progress isn’t lost. Activision says unlocks and anything bought with COD Points carry over to PS5, Xbox Series X|S or PC, as long as you sign in with the same Activision account.

Warzone PS4 and Xbox One shutdown time in every region

Activision links the shutdown to the start of Season 1 but hasn’t named a separate switch-off minute for the old servers. The Season 1 start time comes from the official Season 1 blog. US daylight saving time ended on November 1, so ET is now UTC-5.

Region Season 1 starts (Warzone ends on PS4/Xbox One)
US Pacific (PT) Thursday, Nov 5, 9:00 PM
US Mountain (MT) Thursday, Nov 5, 10:00 PM
US Central (CT) Thursday, Nov 5, 11:00 PM
US Eastern (ET) Friday, Nov 6, 12:00 AM
Brazil (BRT) Friday, Nov 6, 2:00 AM
UK (GMT) / UTC Friday, Nov 6, 5:00 AM
Central Europe (CET) Friday, Nov 6, 6:00 AM
UAE (GST) Friday, Nov 6, 9:00 AM
India (IST) Friday, Nov 6, 10:30 AM
Japan (JST) Friday, Nov 6, 2:00 PM
Australia East (AEDT) Friday, Nov 6, 4:00 PM

Insider Gaming also reports November 6 as the shutdown day, with November 5 as the final full day of play. Expect the last-gen servers to go offline around the Season 1 update rather than at a minute Activision has announced.

Why Warzone is leaving PS4 and Xbox One

Modern Warfare 4 is built only for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, and Warzone takes on its content from Season 1. Activision announced the wind-down on May 28, together with the Modern Warfare 4 reveal. Its support page says last-gen support runs “through the end of Season 06 for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7”, and that season ends when MW4 Season 1 begins. Our MW4 Season 1 guide covers the new maps, weapons and DMZ content arriving in that update.

The shutdown happened in stages:

  • June 4: Warzone was removed from the PS4 and Xbox One stores. New downloads stopped, and content bought with real money (COD Points, BlackCell, CDL operator packs) left the in-game store.
  • June 25: the in-game store closed on both consoles, which was also the last day to spend COD Points there.
  • Season 1 (Nov 6, 05:00 UTC): Warzone can no longer be played on PS4 or Xbox One.

What happens to your progress and COD Points

According to Activision’s FAQ:

  • Progression and anything bought with COD Points belong to your Activision account. They’re available on any supported platform when you sign in with the same linked account.
  • Unspent COD Points are tied to your platform account. They move only within the same console family: PS4 points to PS5, Xbox One points to Xbox Series X|S. They don’t move to PC.
  • Most content bought with real money follows the same console-family rule.
  • Other Call of Duty games released on PS4 and Xbox One stay playable. The shutdown applies only to Warzone.

If you’re moving to a new console, check before Thursday that the Activision account linked to your PS4 or Xbox One is the one you’ll sign in with on the new machine. Our MW4 carry-forward explainer lists what moves from Black Ops 7 into Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone.

What’s next

Activision said in the Season 1 announcement that a separate Warzone roadmap blog would follow on Monday, November 2. That’s where details on the returning Verdansk and Rebirth Island should appear. Season 1 itself arrives on November 6. If you play Modern Warfare 4 itself, our Season 1 roadmap and MW4 release time guide have the rest of the schedule. We’ll update this post if Activision announces an exact server switch-off time.
