MW4 carry forward is limited: your Black Ops 7 weapons, weapon levels, camos, blueprints and Operators stay in Black Ops 7 and don’t come into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 when it launches on October 23. What does move over is your COD Points balance (on the same platform), unspent 2XP tokens, the MW4 pre-order rewards you claimed in Black Ops 7 and your MW4 beta rewards. Warzone is the exception. From MW4 Season 1 it keeps Operators, Operator skins and weapon blueprints from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7, but not legacy camos.
Table of Contents
Quick answer
- Into MW4 multiplayer and DMZ: COD Points (same platform only), unspent 2XP tokens, the Hunter Killer Operator, the Moonlit Pearl and Gilded Ruin universal camos, and MW4 beta rewards.
- Not into MW4: Black Ops 7 weapons and their progress, camos, blueprints, Operators, levels and Prestige. Everyone starts MW4 at Level 1.
- Into Warzone from Season 1: Operators, Operator skins, weapons and blueprints from MWII, MWIII, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7, via a Legacy tab.
- Not into Warzone: camos from legacy titles. Activision corrected its own blog post on this.
- PS4 and Xbox One: Warzone stops working on them when Season 1 starts. Your progress and anything bought with COD Points move to a current console or PC on the same Activision account.

What carries over from Black Ops 7 into MW4?
COD Points
Your COD Points wallet isn’t tied to Black Ops 7, so the balance is there in MW4. Windows Central and Beebom both report it carries over, with one catch. Activision Support says you can only see and spend COD Points on the platform where you bought them (or earned them from the Battle Pass). So points bought on PlayStation won’t show up on Xbox, PC or Switch 2. Items you bought with COD Points follow your Activision account across platforms, but Black Ops 7 items still don’t work in MW4 itself.
If you buy or bought the Vault Edition, its BlackCell season (20 tier skips and 1,100 COD Points) isn’t in your wallet at launch. The pre-order blog says BlackCell, the Battle Pass, COD Points and tier skips become available in MW4 when the Season 1 Battle Pass goes live.
2XP tokens
Unspent Double XP tokens transfer. Call of Duty’s community manager confirmed on X on August 5: “Your tokens from WZ/BO7 also transfer over.” This doesn’t happen every year. Beebom notes tokens did not move from Vanguard to Modern Warfare II.
Pre-order rewards you claimed in Black Ops 7
Two MW4 pre-order bonuses showed up in Black Ops 7 first and are built to follow you:
- Hunter Killer Operator Skin. Digital pre-orders unlocked it right away in Black Ops 7 and Warzone, and the blog says it’s in MW4 at launch on October 23. You have to redeem it by October 23, 2027.
- Gilded Pearl Camo Pack. Digital pre-orders got Moonlit Pearl straight away (the bonus started with Black Ops 7 Season 05 on July 23). Gilded Ruin came from a 5,000-Skull challenge in Black Ops 7, and the first 100,000 players to finish it got a serialized version. Activision says both universal camos work on any Modern Warfare 4 weapon at launch.
The Inner Circuit M4 blueprint is also a digital pre-order bonus, but it’s MW4 content to begin with, so there’s nothing to carry over. Our MW4 editions and preload guide lists every edition’s contents.

Beta rewards and early access progress
The eight MW4 beta level rewards stay on your Activision account and unlock in the full game, according to the open beta FAQ. They run from the “Through the Paces” emblem at Level 4 to the “Beta Forged” Han 86 blueprint at Level 30. Your beta level, weapon unlocks and other beta progress did not carry over. MW4’s own early access is different: XP you earn in DMZ early access counts toward your MW4 career and weapon levels. Our DMZ early access guide covers that, along with the emblems and calling cards for old MWII DMZ Beta players.
What doesn’t carry forward into MW4
Infinity Ward’s game doesn’t share an arsenal with Treyarch’s. MW4 launches with its own 33 weapons and 33 Operators (see our MW4 weapons and Operators at launch list). According to Windows Central, these Black Ops 7 items stay behind:
- Weapons and their weapon levels
- Camos you unlocked
- Weapon blueprints and Operators, including Battle Pass and store bundle items
- Your player level and Prestige. MW4 starts everyone at Private I (Level 1) and climbs to Commander (Level 55), with a new choice of Classic or Regular Prestige after that, per the progression blog.
None of that is deleted. Black Ops 7 stays playable with everything you own, and Activision says Game Pass Ultimate keeps Black Ops 7, Black Ops 6 and Modern Warfare III, even though MW4 itself won’t be on Game Pass until Holiday 2027.
Does Warzone carry forward into the MW4 era?
Mostly yes. The new MW4 version of Warzone arrives with Season 1, which Activision only describes as “shortly after” launch and hasn’t dated yet. Until then, @CODUpdates says, installing Warzone gets you the current Black Ops 7-era game. Activision’s September 24 Warzone post lays out the rules:
- Legacy tab: every weapon from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7 stays usable from a Legacy tab in the Loadout menu.
- No Gunsmith for legacy guns: you can’t edit legacy weapons or blueprints, and old custom loadouts won’t come across. Instead, every legacy base weapon gets a five-attachment version unlocked through the Armory, and legacy blueprints keep their current attachments.
- Operators and skins: everything you’ve earned or bought from MWII, MWIII, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 stays.
- No legacy camos: the first version of the post said legacy camos would carry over. Activision then added a correction calling that “incorrect” and apologized.
- Balance: Activision wants the meta “distinctly rooted in Modern Warfare 4”, with Raven Software balancing weapons every two weeks.

The Operator skin toggle
Also from Season 1, Warzone gets an Operator skin filter. With it on, you see an MW4 Operator in place of any Operator or skin from another Call of Duty game, on enemies, squadmates and in the lobby. Your own Operator doesn’t change for you, and the setting only affects your screen. It’s off by default. So you keep your Black Ops 7 skins, but anyone who turns the filter on won’t see them.
MW4 progression in Warzone
Warzone becomes part of MW4’s progression. From Season 1, XP earned in Warzone counts toward your MW4 Level 1-55 track, MW4 level unlocks become available in Warzone, and Warzone gets its own three mastery camo challenges. XP from multiplayer or Warzone doesn’t count toward your DMZ level, though.
PS4 and Xbox One: what happens to your Warzone content
MW4 isn’t coming to PS4 or Xbox One, and Warzone on those consoles stops working with Season 1. Activision’s Warzone platform update FAQ says the old-gen version stays playable through the end of Black Ops 7 Season 06 if it’s already in your library. The in-game store there closed on June 25.
| What you have on PS4 / Xbox One | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Warzone progression | Any supported platform, on the same Activision account |
| Content bought with COD Points | Any supported platform, on the same Activision account |
| Unspent COD Points | Only the current console in the same family (PS4 to PS5, Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S) |
| Content bought with real money | Usually the current console in the same family, same account |
What to do before MW4 launches on October 23
- Stop using 2XP tokens in Black Ops 7. Unspent tokens transfer, and MW4 has 55 levels plus Prestige to climb.
- Check which platform your COD Points are on. If you switch to a different platform family for MW4 (PlayStation to Switch 2, for example), your old balance stays behind.
- Play on the same Activision account. Pre-order items, beta rewards and Warzone content are all tied to it.
- Don’t buy legacy camos expecting them in Warzone. Operators, skins and blueprints carry over. Camos don’t.
- Thinking about the Vault Edition? The 10% Loyalty Discount for players who own or played a premium Call of Duty since Modern Warfare (2019), Black Ops 7 included, only applies to pre-orders on the same platform account and ends on October 23. It doesn’t apply to upgrades from the Standard Edition.
Playing on Switch 2? Your COD Points and platform purchases from other consoles won’t follow you there. Our MW4 Switch 2 guide covers how that version runs. If you’re starting with the story, the MW4 campaign guide covers length, missions and difficulty.
FAQ
Do Black Ops 7 camos carry over to MW4?
No. Camos you earned or bought in Black Ops 7 don’t work in MW4 and won’t come into the MW4 version of Warzone either. The only exceptions are the two MW4 pre-order universal camos, Moonlit Pearl and Gilded Ruin, which work on any MW4 weapon at launch.
Do COD Points carry over from Black Ops 7 to MW4?
Yes, but only on the platform where you bought or earned them. Activision Support says COD Points can only be spent on that platform account.
Will my Black Ops 7 Operators and blueprints work in Warzone after MW4?
Yes. From Season 1, Operators, Operator skins, weapons and blueprints from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 stay in Warzone. Legacy weapons can’t be edited in the Gunsmith, and other players can hide non-MW4 skins with the new toggle.
When does MW4 Season 1 start?
Activision hasn’t announced a date yet. It only says Season 1 follows “shortly after” the October 23 launch, and Warzone’s switch to MW4 content, the Operator toggle and the end of PS4/Xbox One support all start with it.
