Petit Planet is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, HoYoverse announced on November 1, but the console version comes after the main launch. The free-to-play “galactic life sim” from the Genshin Impact team releases first on December 4, 2026 for PC, iOS and Android. The news came at the end of the game’s Pre-Launch Special Program and was confirmed in a post on Petit Planet’s official X account.
HoYoverse gave no month for the Switch 2 version. “We’re hard at work on the Nintendo Switch 2 version and can’t wait to share gameplay footage and more details with you soon,” the studio wrote.

The PC storefronts come from HoYoverse’s press release, as published by Gematsu. The App Store listing, from HoYoverse’s publishing arm Cognosphere, shows December 4 as the release date. HoYoverse’s announcement names no PlayStation or Xbox version, and Push Square notes the program didn’t mention other consoles. That stands out because Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero all came to PS5. For now, Switch 2 is the only console on the list.
What kind of game is Petit Planet?
You play a Planet Tender who plants a Luca Seed on a small planet of your own. Farming, cooking, foraging, fishing, bug catching and selling all feed the Luca Arbor, a tree that changes your planet’s seasons and ecosystem as it grows. You can sail the Starsea to find islets and new animal Neighbors, visit friends’ planets, and trade or play minigames at the Galactic Bazaar. Polygon compares it to Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, and says the Switch 2 footage at the end of the stream showed both docked and handheld play.

It’s free to play with gacha-style draws. During the stream, HoYoverse said players can earn over 1,000 clothing and furniture items just by playing. Polygon, which has previewed it twice, says it still has questions about how disruptive the gacha and live-service parts will be.
How to pre-register and what you get
HoYoverse says global pre-registrations have passed 10 million, so every milestone reward is unlocked. Here’s what’s available now, according to the official recap graphics:
- Pre-register on the official site, the App Store, Google Play or Epic Games Store. You get the Bestie Star-Light, plus the milestone rewards: Sproutling Outfit, 100 Bazaar Jelly, and two each of Blissful Floral & Fruit Tea, Red Star Firework and Sweet Special.
- Redeem code PTPL1204 after launch (Settings > Account > Redemption Code) for 10 Curio Sea Whistles, the pull item for seasonal Curios. It works until January 3, 2027, 10:00 UTC+8 (January 2, 9 PM ET).
- Besties, Made to Match (October 30 to December 25): pre-register as a team of three and each player picks one Archiboo top.
- Launch a Planet (November 1 to 30): design a planet on the event site to earn in-game rewards that arrive after launch.
- Switch 2 giveaway: follow @PetitPlanetGame and repost the announcement with #PetitPlanetSwitch2 by November 15, 23:59 UTC+8, for a chance at one of three Switch 2 bundles.

After launch there’s also a seven-day login event worth another 10 Curio Sea Whistles, and 10 Sea Whistles from Luca Arbor levels 2 to 30.
What’s next
Petit Planet launches on December 4. HoYoverse says more Switch 2 details and footage are coming, so watch for a date next year.
