The Stardew Valley 1.7 update has no release date yet, but it now has a window: creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone told fans on stage at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre that it will “probably come out sometime next year”, which means 2027. He also called it “looking to be the largest Stardew Valley update ever.” Below is every 1.7 feature he has confirmed in his own words, with the date and place he said it, and what he has deliberately kept quiet.
Table of Contents
Quick answer
- Release window: “probably” 2027 (“sometime next year”, said in late October 2026). No date, no month.
- Size: “looking to be the largest Stardew Valley update ever. It’s jam-packed.”
- Confirmed: Clint and Sandy become marriage candidates, more “character/social stuff”, work on making your children “a little more interesting”, and a new farm type (in his words, adding one is “traditional”).
- Your save: you won’t need a new farm. ConcernedApe says updates “never require you to start a new farm.”
- Consoles and mobile: no dates. He has promised to “minimize the delay” after PC, following the long gap after 1.6.
- Leaks: he has said there are none: “Any claims that there are ‘leaks’ of 1.7 content are fake.”

When is the Stardew Valley 1.7 release date?
There isn’t one. The newest timing comes from the finale of the Stardew Valley: Symphony of Seasons concert tour at Red Rocks, which Kotaku dates to late last month. A fan’s video of the speech was first reported by GamesRadar+ on November 3. In it, ConcernedApe says: “We’re working on the 1.7 update, which is looking to be the largest Stardew Valley update ever. It’s jam-packed.” He adds: “You guys are in for a real treat, and it’ll probably come out sometime next year.”
Take “probably” at face value. It’s a window, not a promise, and it could mean any month of 2027. When he first confirmed the update in August 2025, ConcernedApe said there was “no release date, no estimate” (his X post). Since then he has kept saying it will take time. In September 2025 he wrote “it’s going to be a while before the update is ready”. In February 2026, a day after the anniversary video, he wrote “1.7 is still gonna be a while” (X). The Red Rocks remark is the first time he has named a year.

Every confirmed Stardew Valley 1.7 feature
This list only includes what ConcernedApe has said himself, on his X account, on stardewvalley.net, in his anniversary video, or in interviews and on-stage remarks reported by named outlets. Fan theories and supposed “leaks” are left out. He has called those fake.
Clint and Sandy become marriage candidates
ConcernedApe revealed the two new spouses at the end of his Stardew Valley 10-year Anniversary Video on his own YouTube channel on February 26, 2026. He then posted their wedding-day sprites with the caption “These two can be married in 1.7.” According to GamesRadar+, they’re the first new marriage candidates since Shane and Emily joined in the 1.1 update in 2016. On stage at Red Rocks he described them as “just the tip of the iceberg – there’s so much more in the update.”
More “character/social stuff”
In December 2025 he answered a fan who asked for a hint: “there will be some more character/social stuff.” He hasn’t said what that covers beyond the two new spouses and the children work below, so treat anything more specific as unannounced.
Children that are “a little more interesting”
In his February 2026 IGN interview, as quoted by PC Gamer, ConcernedApe said a popular fan request “has to do with the children, trying to make the children a little more interesting. So I’m trying to do something with that.” He didn’t say what will change: whether kids grow up, get schedules or get new interactions. Any of those would be a guess.

A new farm type
His December 2025 post says “it’s also traditional to add a new farm type.” In the IGN interview quoted by PC Gamer he explained the tradition: there was only the standard farm at launch, “And then 1.1, I added four different farms or something. And then with every update, there’s been one added.” He hasn’t named the new map, shown it or said what it specializes in. He has also kept the claim to “traditional” rather than saying outright that 1.7 has one, so expect a new farm, but wait for his reveal for the details.
Your current farm keeps working
The day after the anniversary video, he reassured a player that “new updates for Stardew valley never require you to start a new farm, you can always just keep playing on your existing farms.” That’s the clearest answer to “do I need a new save for 1.7?”
Will 1.7 come to Switch, PlayStation, Xbox and mobile at the same time?
He hasn’t said. What he has said, in September 2025, is “I will do my best to minimize the delay between the two so as not to have the same problem as last update.” That refers to PC and the console and mobile versions. For context: 1.6 came out on PC on March 19, 2024, and the console and mobile ports followed on November 4, 2024, nearly eight months later. So 1.7 may well launch on PC first again, but he’s aiming for a much shorter wait this time. That’s a goal, not a date.
What ConcernedApe hasn’t confirmed
- A release date or month. “Sometime next year” is all he has said.
- A farm map editor. He talked about the idea in the IGN interview, but PC Gamer quotes him saying “I don’t know if this will happen or not.” It’s an idea, not a feature.
- Specific new events, areas, items or festivals. None have been announced. He said in December that there’s “lots more” but he doesn’t “want to reveal much yet.”
- His Discord riddle. In September he posted three lines on Discord, quoted by ComicBook.com and Game Rant: “two paths will be extended”, “three will become four” and “the mermaid’s fruit will go free.” He hasn’t explained them, so we’re not reading features into them.
He’s also still working on his next game, Haunted Chocolatier. He told IGN he has expanded his team to help with Stardew updates, Kotaku reported. That’s part of why the window has stayed loose.
