Mega Sableye can reach Super Max from Nov 1: get it to Max, then spend Sableye Mega Energy (5,000 per the wiki, 20-34 raids). Night Shade+ power by level.

Pokémon GO’s Super Max Mega Level opens up for Mega Sableye on Sunday, November 1 at 10:00 a.m. local time, the start of Halloween 2026 Part II. To get there, you first raise Sableye to Max, the third Mega Level, and then spend Sableye Mega Energy. Mega Evolving alone won’t take it the last step. According to Niantic’s Part II post, Mega Sableye also gets a third Charged Attack while Mega Evolved, Night Shade+, at 55 power in Trainer Battles and 160 in Raid Battles.

Niantic hasn’t published the Mega Energy price of Super Max anywhere we could find. The Pokémon GO Wiki puts it at 5,000 Mega Energy. Below we’ve labelled which numbers are official and which come from the community. Checked October 31, 2026, 09:50 UTC.

Quick answer: Super Max Mega Level for Mega Sableye

  • When: from Nov 1, 10:00 a.m. local (Halloween Part II). New Zealand gets it first, at 21:00 UTC on Oct 31.
  • Requirement (official): reach Max Mega Level first, then use Sableye Mega Energy to power it up to Super Max.
  • Cost (community): 5,000 Sableye Mega Energy from Max, per the Pokémon GO Wiki. Niantic hasn’t stated a number.
  • Raids needed: 20 to 34 Mega Sableye raids if each one pays 250 to 150 Energy (the wiki’s table for Mega Raids; faster clears pay more).
  • Night Shade+ (official): 160 raid power and 55 Trainer Battle power at Base level, rising with Mega Level. By Niantic’s own multiplier, that’s 208 and about 71.5 at Super Max.
  • Super Max bonuses (official): greatly enhanced CP, much more Catch Candy, Catch XP and Candy XL chance for same-type catches, and a 24-hour rest period.
  • Deadline for Energy: Mega Sableye raids run until Sunday, November 8 at 10:00 p.m. local.

What is Super Max Mega Level in Pokémon GO?

Every Mega-capable Pokémon has its own Mega Level, which only applies while it’s Mega Evolved. Niantic added Super Max as a fourth level in February 2026, at Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos. The Mega Evolution 2026 update lists what Super Max adds on top of the Max bonuses:

  • Greatly enhanced CP.
  • Greatly increased Catch Candy, Catch XP and Candy XL chance when you catch Pokémon that share a type with your Mega.
  • A 24-hour rest period before the Pokémon can Mega Evolve again without Mega Energy.

Niantic’s help center confirms that Super Max can only be unlocked with Mega Energy, and that the Mega Level doesn’t reset when Mega Evolution wears off. It also tells you where to check your own numbers: open the Pokémon, tap the Mega icon on its details page, then tap the next Mega Level icon to see what that level needs. Not every Mega can reach Super Max. Niantic adds species over time, and Sableye is the newest.

Pokémon GO Mega Level requirements and bonuses

Niantic’s posts describe the bonuses in words. The exact figures below come from the Pokémon GO Wiki’s Mega Evolution page (edited October 31), apart from the 24-hour Super Max rest period, which is official. Candy, XP and Candy XL bonuses apply to catches that share a type with your Mega. For Mega Sableye that means Dark and Ghost types.

Mega Level How to reach it Rest period Catch bonuses (same type)
Base Mega Evolve once 7 days +1 Candy
High Mega Evolve on 7 different days 5 days +1 Candy, +50 XP, +10% Candy XL chance
Max Mega Evolve on 30 different days 3 days +2 Candy, +100 XP, +25% Candy XL chance
Super Max From Max, spend 5,000 Mega Energy (wiki figure) 24 hours (official) +3 Candy, +200 XP, +30% Candy XL chance; the wiki also lists a temporary 2-level boost

Only the first Mega Evolution of a Pokémon each day counts toward its level, according to the wiki. You don’t have to wait out the days, though. Niantic’s Mega Finale update confirms you can also spend “significant amounts of Mega Energy to instantly level it up”. The wiki lists the rate as 80 Mega Energy per remaining day to reach High and 40 per remaining day to reach Max.

How much Mega Energy does Mega Sableye need for Super Max?

Sableye is one of the cheaper Megas. Its first Mega Evolution costs 100 Sableye Mega Energy, according to both the Pokémon GO Wiki and Dittobase. Here’s the full path for a Sableye that has never Mega Evolved, using the wiki’s rates. This is our estimate: your in-game Mega Level screen shows the real cost.

Step Sableye Mega Energy Source
First Mega Evolution (Base level) 100 Pokémon GO Wiki, Dittobase
Skip to High (6 days left × 80) 480 Wiki rate, our math
Skip to Max (23 days left × 40) 920 Wiki rate, our math
Max to Super Max 5,000 Pokémon GO Wiki
Total from scratch about 6,500 Our estimate

If your Sableye is already at Max, you only need the 5,000. If you’ve Mega Evolved it on some days already, the skip costs shrink, because they’re charged per remaining day. Use the Sableye you’d actually want. Mega Levels belong to the individual Pokémon, not the species: Niantic’s help center says each Pokémon needs its own first Mega Evolution, and the wiki notes that trading a Pokémon resets its Mega Level.

How to get Sableye Mega Energy fast

Niantic lists three sources of Mega Energy: Mega Raids, some research tasks, and walking a buddy from a species you’ve Mega Evolved before. For Sableye, raids are the only quick option.

Mega Raid clear time Mega Energy per raid Raids for 5,000
0:00-0:30 250 20
0:31-1:15 225 23
1:16-2:30 200 25
2:31-3:45 175 29
3:46-5:00 150 34

The Energy-per-clear figures are the wiki’s table for most Mega Raids; the raid counts are our division. Energy is paid when the raid ends, so you don’t need to catch the Sableye. Faster clears pay more, so a group with strong Fairy-types beats a slow duo. Mega Sableye is in Mega Raids from October 28, 6:00 a.m. to November 8, 10:00 p.m. local (dates from Niantic’s November schedule, hours from Leek Duck). Our Pokémon GO raids this week page tracks the rotation day by day.

The other routes are slow. A Sableye buddy earns 5 Mega Energy per km once Mega Sableye is registered, according to the wiki, which works out to about 1,000 km for 5,000. Neither Niantic’s Part II post nor Leek Duck’s Part II page, including its GO Pass list, mentions Sableye Mega Energy as a reward.

Best counters for Mega Sableye raids

Mega Sableye is Dark and Ghost, which leaves it with one weakness: Fairy. Pokebattler’s simulations (level 40 attackers, no weather, checked October 31) rank Crowned Shield Zamazenta, Mega Gardevoir, Crowned Sword Zacian and Mega Rayquaza at the top. The best budget picks are Togekiss, Gardevoir, Hatterene and Sylveon with Charm and Dazzling Gleam. Pokebattler estimates about 1.3 trainers with top counters and 1.7 with the budget list, so a pair of players clears it comfortably. For full counter tables and weather notes, see our Giratina Origin and Mega Sableye raid counters.

Night Shade+ power at each Mega Level

Niantic gives Night Shade+ at 160 power in raids and 55 in Trainer Battles, and its help center states the multiplier for these extra attacks: 1 at Base, 1.1 at High, 1.2 at Max and 1.3 at Super Max. Applying that gives the table below. Niantic hasn’t said how the game rounds the decimals.

Mega Level Multiplier (official) Raid power Trainer Battle power
Base ×1.0 160 55
High ×1.1 176 about 60.5
Max ×1.2 192 about 66
Super Max ×1.3 208 about 71.5

The energy costs aren’t in Niantic’s post. Dittobase’s move data lists Night Shade+ at 100 energy in raids and 35 in Trainer Battles, compared with 50 and 45 for regular Night Shade. If that’s right, the plus move is a cheap, fast attack in PvP. Niantic says the extra Charged Attacks work in GO Battle League and against raid bosses, but not against Pokémon defending a Gym. Mega Sableye knows Night Shade+ at every Mega Level, so you don’t need Super Max to use it.

Can you use Mega Sableye in GO Battle League?

Only in Mega cups. Niantic’s Twilight Trails GO Battle League post lists the Mega Halloween Cup: Great League Edition until November 3 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific, followed by Great League, Ultra League and Master League: Mega Edition from November 3 to 10. A Mega’s CP is lowered for the battle if it’s over the league cap. Niantic also notes that Super Max’s CP bonus doesn’t apply in Master League.

Is Mega Sableye worth taking to Super Max?

For most players, its main value is Candy. Mega Sableye boosts Dark and Ghost catches, and Halloween Part II is full of Ghost types: Greavard, Litwick and Sinistea are all on Niantic’s list. At Super Max, the 24-hour rest period lets you keep it Mega Evolved for free almost every day. Our Halloween 2026 Part 2 guide covers the spawns, Timed Research and GO Pass.

As an attacker, Mega Sableye is built more for bulk than damage. The wiki lists its Defense at 216 and its Attack at 151, so in raids it’s mostly there to give the 30% Dark and Ghost damage boost to everyone’s teams. If you’re short on Energy, compare it with the other Megas Niantic’s posts name as Super Max-eligible: Mega Victreebel and Mega Malamar (the first two, in February), Mega Dragonite, Mega Raichu X and Y, Mega Skarmory, Mega Falinks, Mega Starmie, Mega Mewtwo X and Y, Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox and Mega Greninja. FAQ

How much Mega Energy do you need for Super Max in Pokémon GO?

The Pokémon GO Wiki lists 5,000 of that species’ Mega Energy to go from Max to Super Max. Niantic hasn’t published the number, but the game shows it when you tap the next Mega Level icon on the Pokémon’s page.

How do you get Sableye Mega Energy?

Mostly from Mega Sableye raids, which run until November 8 at 10:00 p.m. local and pay 150 to 250 Energy per raid depending on clear time. Walking a Sableye buddy gives a small amount (5 per km, per the wiki).

Can I reach Super Max just by Mega Evolving?

No. Mega Evolving can take a Pokémon to Max, the third level, but Niantic says the step to Super Max always needs Mega Energy.

What is Mega Sableye weak to in Pokémon GO?

Only Fairy-type attacks. Togekiss, Gardevoir and Mega Gardevoir are the most common Pokebattler-ranked picks.

Does Night Shade+ work in Gym battles?

You can’t use it against Pokémon defending a Gym, according to Niantic. It works in raids and in Trainer Battles, including GO Battle League Mega cups.
