The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2 comes in two editions on Nintendo’s US store: a $59.99 digital Standard Edition and a $69.99 Physical Edition, both launching November 5, 2026. Pre-orders are open for both. There’s no collector’s or special edition in the US, but the first print of the physical version has a textured foil cover, and digital buyers get a 40th anniversary wallpaper.
Here’s what each edition gets you, where pre-orders stand, and which one makes sense for you. Prices and stock were checked on Nintendo’s US store on the morning of October 26, 2026 (UTC).
Table of Contents
Ocarina of Time Switch 2 editions and prices
| Edition (US) | Price | Pre-order status (Oct 26) | Extra |
|---|---|---|---|
| Digital (Standard Edition) | $59.99 | Open on the eShop | Zelda 40th Anniversary digital wallpaper if bought before Nov 23, 11:59 p.m. PT |
| Physical Edition | $69.99 | Open on Nintendo’s store, ships Nov 5 | Textured foil cover on the first print, while supplies last |
Both versions are the same game: Switch 2 only, single player, with TV, tabletop and handheld modes. The official store page lists an estimated 27 GB download for the digital version. In Canada, the eShop price is CA$84.99.

Digital or physical: which Ocarina of Time edition to buy
Buy digital if you want the lowest price on Nintendo’s store and the wallpaper bonus. According to the store listing, digital buyers who purchase before November 23 at 11:59 p.m. PT (November 24, 07:59 UTC) get a Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary wallpaper in several screen formats. Nintendo emails a My Nintendo link for it after the promotion ends. When we checked, Nintendo’s eShop data still listed the game as a pre-order with the download not yet available, so there’s no pre-load yet.
Buy physical if you collect boxes or want to lend or resell the game later. Nintendo of America showed the textured foil packaging on October 14, saying it’s “available at launch while supplies last.” Nintendo hasn’t said how many foil copies exist, so pre-ordering is the safest way to get one. Nintendo’s own store caps orders at two copies per customer. Its Physical Edition listing doesn’t describe it as a Game-Key Card.
The $10 gap can shrink. Nintendo Everything reported that Amazon and Walmart took physical pre-orders at about $60, the digital price. Retailer prices change, so check the total at checkout before you order.
Pre-order bonuses outside the US
The US has no retailer-exclusive bonus. Other regions do, according to Nintendo Everything’s running bonus guide:
- UK and Europe: Spiritual Stone replicas (Kokiri Emerald, Goron Ruby, Zora Sapphire) with purchases from the Nintendo Store UK, reported as sold out.
- Canada: a free holographic slipcover based on the original N64 box at EB Games.
- Japan: art cards, a paper display stand and a 40th anniversary sticker, plus a wallpaper for digital buyers.

Zelda Switch 2 console, Pro Controller and amiibo
There’s no Ocarina of Time console bundle in the US. The Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 ($519.99) launches October 29 without a game, so Ocarina is a separate purchase. Both it and the matching Zelda Pro Controller ($99.99) showed as unavailable to order on Nintendo’s US store on October 26. Our Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 guide covers what’s in the box, and our Zelda Switch 2 restock report has Nintendo’s latest stock statement.
Any existing Legend of Zelda amiibo gives in-game extras. The new Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo ($24.99 each) unlock masks with a retro look, but they don’t arrive until 2027.
Is Ocarina of Time on Switch 2 worth pre-ordering?
It’s a full rebuild rather than a port. Nintendo lists overhauled visuals, voiced cutscenes with expanded dialogue, an orchestral score, reworked camera and movement controls, and ocarina songs you can hum into the Switch 2 microphone. It’s worth your time if you never finished the 1998 original, since Nintendo calls it “an excellent entry point” to the series. Returning fans get the Hall of Fallen Heroes boss rematches, covered in our Ocarina of Time overview trailer breakdown, and the Water Temple showdown teased in the Dark Link ad.
What’s next
The Zelda console and accessories launch October 29, and Ocarina of Time follows on November 5. Nintendo hasn’t put an unlock time on the US store page yet. We’ll update this post when pre-loading opens or if foil-edition stock runs out.
