Cyberpunk 2077 dual wielding comes from Double Trouble, a new perk in the Cool tree added in the free Edgerunners 2 Update (2.5) on October 22, 2026. It unlocks at 9 Cool, works only with Power pistols and revolvers, and costs each gun 37.5% of its damage. A good Cyberpunk 2077 dual wield build therefore leans on four new support perks, the old Cool handgun perks and a Sandevistan. Below are the exact perk numbers, which guns qualify, and a build plan for level 50 and level 60 with the trade-offs explained.
Perk values come from the Cyberpunk Wiki entries written from the 2.5 game files, cross-checked against two build guides. CD Projekt Red’s own Update 2.5 notes confirm the perk and its four auxiliary perks but list no numbers. Checked October 26, 2026, 07:30 UTC. There has been no 2.5 hotfix on Steam since launch.

Quick answer
- Unlock: raise Cool to 9, then buy Double Trouble in the Cool tree. Installing 2.5 alone does nothing; the perk must be purchased.
- Weapons: Power pistols and Power revolvers only, in any mix (pistol + revolver works). Tech and Smart handguns don’t qualify.
- Cost: each weapon deals 37.5% less damage while dual wielding. Both guns fire at once, so a pair of identical guns lands 125% of one gun’s damage per trigger pull if both shots hit.
- Rank 2: Heywood Hurricane replaces Quick Melee: both guns fire automatically for 1 second, and ammo spent on hits is refunded.
- Support perks (all Cool 9): Two Right Hands, Keep ‘Em Comin’, Triple Tequila and Splash Of Love.
- Build core: Cool 20, Technical Ability 20, Reflexes 15-20, Body 13-20, Intelligence 3, with a Militech Apogee or Falcon Sandevistan.
- No Phantom Liberty needed. The expansion only adds the level cap to 60 and extra gear.

How to unlock dual wielding in Cyberpunk 2077
- Make sure you are on version 2.5. It launched on October 22 on PC, Mac (Steam, GOG, Epic), PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. CD Projekt Red said Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version would follow “in the days to follow”, and PS4/Xbox One don’t get it. If Double Trouble is missing from the tree, check the version first.
- Open Character and raise Cool to 9. Double Trouble sits at the Cool 9 tier, next to Focus.
- Spend a perk point on Double Trouble rank 1. That enables the second-hand slot for a qualifying handgun.
- Equip a Power pistol or revolver, then add a second one in the off-hand slot. TheClick.gg reports the off-hand slot opens by holding X on PlayStation and A on Xbox in the weapon equip screen; on PC or with remapped controls, follow the inventory prompt.
- Buy rank 2 for Heywood Hurricane once you are sure you like the playstyle. Perk points can be refunded, but attribute points are much harder to reset.
Double Trouble and the four dual wield perks
All five perks require 9 Cool and only affect Power pistols and revolvers. The four auxiliary perks each need Double Trouble first.
| Perk | Effect (2.5) | When to take it |
|---|---|---|
| Double Trouble, rank 1 | Dual wield Power pistols/revolvers; both fire together; each deals −37.5% damage. When aiming: −15% recoil, −15% bullet spread | First |
| Double Trouble, rank 2 | Heywood Hurricane replaces Quick Melee: both guns fire automatically for 1 sec with +50% bullet spread; ammo spent on successful shots is refilled | After you’ve tested rank 1 |
| Two Right Hands | Hip fire: −25% Stamina cost. Aiming: −20% recoil, −20% bullet spread | Second: the biggest accuracy fix |
| Keep ‘Em Comin’ | +40 Stamina after a dual wield kill, +20 more per Triple Tequila stack | Third: keeps you shooting and dashing |
| Triple Tequila | +10% Mitigation Chance for 15 sec after a dual wield kill, stacks 3 times. Heywood Hurricane consumes the stacks for +15% damage each (up to +45%). No stacks are gained during a Hurricane | With rank 2 |
| Splash Of Love | +50% fire rate for Heywood Hurricane; at 3 Triple Tequila stacks, +1 sec Hurricane duration | Last: only matters if you use the Hurricane often |
What the numbers mean in practice
- The damage penalty is per gun, not per trigger pull. Two identical guns at 62.5% each add up to 125% of one gun when both shots land. With a mixed pair, the total depends on each gun’s own damage and fire rate. Accuracy decides whether the second gun is worth it, which is why Two Right Hands comes early.
- Heywood Hurricane is a close-range finisher. The +50% spread makes it poor at distance, but hits refund their ammo, so landing it on a nearby target costs nothing.
- Triple Tequila changes how you order kills. Stacks come from kills and last 15 seconds. The intended loop is: drop two or three weak enemies, then spend the stacks on a tough one with a Hurricane for +45% damage (and +1 second with Splash Of Love).
- Run ‘N’ Gun overlaps with Two Right Hands. At Cool 20, Run ‘N’ Gun makes hip fire cost no Stamina at all, so Two Right Hands’ hip-fire bonus stops mattering. Its aiming bonus (−20% recoil and spread) still applies, so it stays worth one point.

Which guns work with Double Trouble
The weapon’s technology label is what counts. Check the item card for “Power” before you pair it.
| Weapon | Type | Dual wield? | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| La Chingona Dorada (Iconic Nue) | Power pistol | Yes | Jackie’s ofrenda at El Coyote Cojo after Heroes (wait about 24 hours); Phantom Liberty: Herold Lowe sells one if missed |
| Kongou (Iconic Liberty) | Power pistol | Yes | Yorinobu’s penthouse during The Heist (missable) |
| Malorian Arms 3516 | Power pistol | Yes | Chippin’ In |
| Dying Night | Power pistol | Yes | The Gun (Wilson) |
| Archangel (Iconic Overture) | Power revolver | Yes | A Like Supreme (Kerry) |
| Crash (Iconic Overture) | Power revolver | Yes | Following the River |
| Liberty, Unity, Nue, Overture (regular) | Power pistols/revolver | Yes | Vendors and loot |
| Coronation (new 2.5 Iconic Burya) | Tech revolver | No | Clampdown quest |
| Comrade’s Hammer, Lizzie | Tech | No | – |
| Skippy | Smart pistol | No | – |
The easy mistake is Coronation, King’s gold revolver from the new Clampdown quest. It looks made for a gunslinger, but it’s a Tech revolver, so Double Trouble ignores it. Iconic effects still work while dual wielding, according to TheClick.gg. One pairing to test before committing: the 3516’s iconic effect runs off Quick Melee, and Heywood Hurricane replaces Quick Melee at Double Trouble rank 2. CD Projekt Red hasn’t documented how the two interact.
Best Cyberpunk 2077 dual wield build: attributes
The two build guides we compared (TheClick.gg and Power Up Gaming) agree on maxing Cool and Technical Ability and keeping Intelligence at 3. They split the remaining points between Reflexes and Body differently.
| Attribute | Level 50 (base game) | Level 60 (Phantom Liberty) | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cool | 20 | 20 | Double Trouble (9), Focus (9), Deadeye (15), High Noon, Long Shot, California Reaper (15), Run ‘N’ Gun (20) |
| Technical Ability | 20 | 20 | Cyberware capacity: All Things Cyber, License to Chrome, Edgerunner |
| Reflexes | 15 (or 13) | 18-20 | Dash and Steady Grip (9), Air Dash (15) |
| Body | 13 (or 15) | 18-20 | Painkiller, Adrenaline Rush (15) |
| Intelligence | 3 | 3 | Sandevistan replaces the cyberdeck, so no quickhacks |
The level 50 trade-off: Adrenaline Rush needs 15 Body and Air Dash needs 15 Reflexes, and 71 points can’t reach both alongside two maxed attributes. Take 15 Reflexes / 13 Body if you rely on movement, or 13 Reflexes / 15 Body if you keep getting caught in the open. At level 60 you get both.
Perks beyond the dual wield branch
- Cool: Focus and Deadeye (headshot and weak spot damage), High Noon (faster reloads after headshot kills while Deadeye is active), Long Shot (full damage at any range during Deadeye), California Reaper (+30% Stamina on headshot kills), Run ‘N’ Gun at 20.
- Reflexes: Dash, Steady Grip (shoot while dashing), Air Dash.
- Body: Painkiller, then Adrenaline Rush.
- Technical Ability: All Things Cyber, License to Chrome, Edgerunner.

Best weapons and cyberware for the build
| Setup | Weapons | Operating system | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dual pistol | La Chingona Dorada pair | Militech Falcon Sandevistan | Power Up Gaming, TheClick.gg |
| Hybrid | La Chingona Dorada + Malorian Arms 3516 | Militech Falcon Sandevistan | Power Up Gaming |
| Revolver | Archangel + a Power Overture | Militech Apogee Sandevistan | Power Up Gaming |
| Early game | Dying Night + Kongou (or any two Power pistols) | Dynalar Sandevistan | TheClick.gg |
Both guides use a Sandevistan, because slowed time gives you room to land headshots with two guns. Power Up Gaming’s cyberware list: Ballistic Coprocessor (ricochets for Power weapons) and Shock Absorber in the hands, Kiroshi Cockatrice optics, Peripheral Inverse, Blood Pump and Biomonitor for healing, Reinforced Tendons for the double jump, plus Kerenzikov and Axolotl at level 60. Cyberpunk 2077 dual wield not working? What to check
- Version: no 2.5, no Double Trouble. CD Projekt Red scheduled Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version to follow after the October 22 launch.
- Purchase: the perk must be bought, not just visible. Cool must be 9 or higher.
- Weapon type: both guns must say Power. Tech (Coronation, Comrade’s Hammer, Lizzie) and Smart (Skippy) won’t pair.
- Quick Melee feels different: that’s Heywood Hurricane from rank 2, which takes over the Quick Melee input while dual wielding.
- Old dual wield mods: the native feature is separate from the pre-2.5 community mods and from the new dual wield poses in Photo Mode. If the perk misbehaves on a modded PC install, test with mods disabled first.
FAQ
What level of Cool do you need to dual wield in Cyberpunk 2077?
9 Cool. Double Trouble and all four support perks sit at the Cool 9 tier.
Can you dual wield SMGs or Tech pistols?
No. Double Trouble only covers Power pistols and Power revolvers. You can mix one of each.
Do you need Phantom Liberty for dual wielding?
No. It’s part of the free Update 2.5. Phantom Liberty raises the level cap to 60, which makes the build easier to finish.
Is dual wielding better than one pistol?
Only if both shots land. Each gun loses 37.5% damage, so two identical guns hitting together deal 125% of one gun per pull. Missed off-hand shots make it worse than a single pistol, which is why the accuracy perks come first.
