Nintendo’s Ocarina of Time Switch 2 overview trailer reveals the Hall of Fallen Heroes, humming ocarina controls and new amiibo ahead of the Nov 5 launch.

Nintendo has released a new overview trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo Switch 2, three weeks before the remake launches on November 5, 2026. The video, announced on Nintendo’s US news page on October 14, is the clearest look yet at how the 1998 Nintendo 64 classic has been rebuilt, and it confirms a brand-new area for rematching monsters you have already beaten.

Here is the trailer from Nintendo of America’s YouTube channel:

Hall of Fallen Heroes: rematch the monsters you’ve beaten

The headline addition is a place Nintendo’s US and Australian posts call the Hall of Fallen Heroes (several outlets, including Nintendo Life, refer to it as the Hall of Fallen Foes). Statues of the monsters Link has defeated are displayed there. According to Nintendo, you can visit to learn about each enemy or take it on again in a rematch battle.

Nintendo Life reports that boss rematches come with a timer, which turns them into a time trial, much like the boss challenge mode added in the 2011 3DS version. The same report says Navi helps Link read “fairy thoughts” hidden around Hyrule, a detail it sourced from Nintendo’s Japanese website.

Hum into the microphone to play the ocarina

The trailer gives another look at the remake’s most unusual feature. Hum a song Link has learned, or play it on a real instrument, and the Switch 2 microphone picks it up and makes Link’s in-game ocarina respond. Nintendo also lists an Electric OCARINA OF TIME accessory for Switch 2 on its US store at $49.99.

Overhauled visuals, voice acting and modern controls

Nintendo describes this version as “completely reborn” for Switch 2. Confirmed changes include:

  • Completely overhauled visuals
  • Fully voiced cutscenes with expanded dialogue
  • Full symphonic orchestral music
  • Enhanced controls that let Link jump and dash, plus “modern camera movements”, according to the official store page
  • Navi returns as Link’s guiding fairy

ZELDA NOTES and new amiibo

The remake supports ZELDA NOTES in the Nintendo Switch App on smartphones. Per Nintendo’s store page, it shows your accomplishments for the day, challenges you to find in-game locations from images, and lets you play an ocarina on your phone. A Nintendo Account and internet connection are required.

Two new amiibo, Young Link and Young Zelda, arrive in 2027 and unlock in-game masks with a retro graphical style. Any existing Legend of Zelda series amiibo will give in-game extras when tapped.

The game is part of the series’ 40th anniversary celebrations. A week before it launches, Nintendo is releasing a Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition of the Switch 2 on October 29, 2026, alongside a matching Pro Controller and carrying case. The console does not include a game.

Ocarina of Time is one of Nintendo’s most celebrated games, so special editions tied to it may sell out quickly. Collectors will remember how fast the Metroid Dread Special Edition disappeared from shelves. For more from Nintendo’s own studios, see our report on Monolith Soft’s new open-world RPG.

What’s next

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches on Switch 2 on November 5. The 40th Anniversary Edition console arrives first, on October 29. Nintendo hasn’t shown everything the Hall of Fallen Heroes contains, and players will learn how hard the timed rematches are once the game is out. We’ll cover the launch, including a guide to what’s new compared with the N64 original.
