Oblivion Remastered console commands work only in the PC version of the game. Press the tilde key (~, under Esc) during play, type a command and press Enter. For gold, type player.additem F 1000. The game warns you that using commands disables achievements, and on that save they stay off.
Below are the commands that still work in the remaster, the ones that broke and what replaced them, the Remastered-only cheats such as ObvGodMode, item IDs for gold, lockpicks and armor, and how to keep your achievements safe.

How to open the console in Oblivion Remastered
- Load a save. Make a copy first, or start a new save just for cheating (see the achievements section below).
- Press
~(tilde). The Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages (UESP) note that the key depends on your keyboard layout: it can be`,^,§or², always next to 1 and Esc. - Type a command and press Enter. Commands aren’t case-sensitive, so
TGMandtgmdo the same thing. - Press
~again to close the console.
The remaster’s console is the Unreal Engine 5 console with support for the original game’s commands bolted on, according to UESP. Two consequences matter in practice. The old commands still work but don’t show up as suggestions while you type. And unlike the 2006 original, opening the console doesn’t pause the game. Kotaku adds a quirk: pressing Enter can also use whatever item your cursor is over in the menu behind the console, so close menus before you type.
If an old command is misread, UESP suggests putting obvConsole and a space in front of it, for example obvConsole tgm.

Oblivion Remastered gold command (add gold)
Gold is item F (also written 0000000F), so the command is player.additem F followed by the amount: player.additem F 5000 gives 5,000 gold. To take gold away, use player.removeitem F 500. A merchant’s own gold is a different thing: click the merchant with the console open and type setbartergold and an amount. UESP gives a range of 1 to 65,500.
Oblivion Remastered carry weight command
The command GamesRadar+, Gamepressure and The Escapist all give is player.forceav encumbrance -X, with a number in place of X. The minus sign matters: Encumbrance counts how much you’re carrying, so a big negative value leaves room for almost anything. The Escapist says the number has to be bigger than your current carry limit to work. Gamepressure says you may need to enter it again after restarting the game.
Two other options:
tgmignores the carry limit while god mode is on, according to UESP. Equipped armor still slows you down.- Your normal limit is five times your Strength, so
player.setav strength 100raises it to 500. PC Gamer also listsplayer.setgs factorstrengthencumbrancemultfollowed by a number to change that multiplier (5 by default). Only PC Gamer lists that one, so treat it as unconfirmed.

Heavy armor weighs a lot. player.forceav encumbrance with a big negative number, or tgm, lets you carry it all. Image: Bethesda Softworks
New Oblivion Remastered-only commands
The remaster adds many commands of its own, most starting with Altar. (the project’s internal codename, according to UESP). Most of them change graphics, audio and controller settings. The ones players use:
ObvGodMode: Kotaku says it maxes all attributes, raises skills to 100, unlocks every spell and adds 1 million gold, 10,000 lockpicks and 5 torches. PCGamesN agrees on the gold, spells and maxed stats. None of the guides we checked gives a way to undo it, so save first.ghost, walkandToggleDebugCamera: Unreal Engine replacements for noclip and the free camera.ToggleHUDVisibilityandShowHUD: Bethesda’s Update 1.1 patch notes (June 2025) say these were enabled in that patch. Update 1.2 (July 2025) didn’t mention the console.setstageworks but is locked. UESP says to enterAltar.Cheat.AllowSetStage truefirst. We found this in UESP only.GiveViolencegives a set of iron weapons, according to UESP’s list of Altar commands. We found it in UESP only.
Old Oblivion commands that don’t work in the Remaster
PC Gamer and GamesRadar+ both retested the 2006 commands in the remaster and marked the broken ones, and UESP keeps its own “works in Remastered” column. These are the ones they agree on:
| Old command | What it did | Use instead |
|---|---|---|
tcl |
Noclip | ghost, then walk |
tfc |
Free camera | ToggleDebugCamera |
tm |
Hide menus and HUD | ToggleHUDVisibility |
modpca |
Add points to an attribute | player.setav |
bat |
Run a batch file of commands | exec filename (UESP: the file must be in the game’s Binaries folder) |
swdp |
Show who’s detecting you | Nothing |
showsubtitle |
Subtitles on/off | No console replacement listed |
tlb, tg, twf, tws |
Old graphics toggles | UESP: grass.enable 0 for grass |
Sources disagree on a few more. PC Gamer marks qqq (quit) and set timescale to as working. UESP says qqq freezes the game (it suggests exit) and that set timescale doesn’t work. Save before you try either one.
Oblivion Remastered item IDs
Use these with player.additem ID amount. Each ID below appears on UESP’s item pages and in at least one other guide we checked (PC Gamer, GamesRadar+, PCGamesN or PC Games):
| Item | Item ID |
|---|---|
| Gold | 0000000F (or just F) |
| Lockpick | 0000000A |
| Skeleton Key (unbreakable lockpick) | 0000000B |
| Repair Hammer | 0000000C |
| Goldbrand (sword) | 00027105 |
| Arrow of Burning | 0004BEFB |
| Amulet of Luck | 00091AD5 |
| Cure for Vampirism (potion) | 000977E4 |
| Nirnroot | 0004E940 |
| Daedra Silk | 00033670 |
| Cheese Wheel | 00033669 |
| Skooma | 0004E0A9 |
To spawn a creature rather than an item, use player.placeatme ID 1. The Unicorn, for example, has the base ID 0001EC58 on UESP.
Daedric and Glass armor IDs
These IDs come from UESP’s Daedric Armor and Glass Armor pages only, so we couldn’t confirm them in a second source. They are the plain, unenchanted pieces.
| Piece | Daedric ID | Glass ID |
|---|---|---|
| Cuirass | 0003635B |
00036343 |
| Helmet | 00036357 |
0003633F |
| Gauntlets | 00036358 |
00036340 |
| Greaves | 0003635A |
00036342 |
| Boots | 00036359 |
00036341 |
| Shield | 0003635C |
00036344 |
Items from the Deluxe Edition upgrade aren’t listed here. If you want those armor sets, buy the upgrade.
Do console commands disable achievements in Oblivion Remastered?
Yes. This is the biggest difference from the 2006 game, where the PC version had no achievements. In the remaster, achievements and trophies can be earned on PC (Steam and the Xbox app) for the first time, and UESP says entering any command disables them on the current save file. PC Gamer, GamesRadar+ and PCGamesN all mention the warning the game shows before your first command.
How to cheat and still keep your achievements:
- Before you open the console, make a manual save you never cheat on.
- Cheat on a separate save. GamesRadar+ says achievements stay off for that playthrough “at least until you reload a save”, meaning a save made before the commands.
- Go back to the clean save when you want to hunt achievements again.
Some lists also print a command that unlocks every achievement at once. We leave it out because it skips the game entirely.

Can you use console commands on PS5 or Xbox?
No. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions have no console, as UESP, GamesRadar+ and Kotaku all say. None of the guides we found covers the Nintendo Switch 2 version, released in August 2026, and we found no way to open a console there. Gold, carry weight and the other cheats above are PC only. On Steam, the game is Windows only.
Console commands not working?
- It’s a 2006 command that changed: check the “don’t work” table above (
tclandtfcare the usual ones). - The command isn’t recognised: try
obvConsoleand a space in front of it. - Targeted command does nothing: click the person or object while the console is open, then type the command without
player.. - Skill values reset: values above 255 wrap back to 0. Keep skills and attributes at 255 or below.
- Carry weight resets: enter the
forceavcommand again after a restart.

player.additem F followed by the amount, for example player.additem F 10000. It works on PC only.

No. Use ghost to fly through walls and walk to turn it off.
What does ObvGodMode do?
It’s a Remastered-only command that turns on god mode, maxes your attributes and skills, unlocks every spell and adds 1 million gold. Save first, because none of the guides we checked gives a way to undo it.
