FromSoftware moved The Duskbloods from 2026 to 2027 with no new date, citing network test feedback and time for final rules and balance tuning on Switch 2.

The Duskbloods has been delayed to 2027. FromSoftware confirmed on October 29 that its Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive will no longer launch in 2026, the window it has carried since its reveal. The studio did not give a new release date or month. It says the extra time is for “final adjustments to game rules and balancing” after its August network test.

The announcement went out at 14:00 UTC on the official Duskbloods account on X, on FromSoftware’s Japanese PR account, and as a notice on the game’s official site. That notice lists the change plainly: release timing before, 2026; after, 2027. The site’s spec box now reads “2027年発売予定” (planned for 2027).

What FromSoftware said about the delay

The English statement is short. “While development of The Duskbloods is at the final adjustment stage, we have made the decision to move the launch window to 2027,” FromSoftware wrote, apologizing “to players who have been kindly awaiting the release of this title.”

In a follow-up post, the studio tied the decision to its test: “During the network test, we saw active interest in the core concepts of the game, including combat, strategic depth, and player expression. To further enhance these aspects, we have decided to move the launch, allowing time for final adjustments to game rules and balancing.”

The Japanese notice adds a little more detail. It says testers valued that the game can be enjoyed through more than direct fighting, with different ways to move around a match and a range of strategies. FromSoftware wants to deliver that concept “at a higher standard.” So this is a tuning delay, not a missing-feature one, at least by the studio’s account.

Why the network test matters

The Closed Network Test ran from August 21 to 24, 2026, in five sessions. It started badly. FromSoftware closed the first session on August 21 after login problems with the game server, which VGC covered at the time as “Failed to log in” errors. Nintendo Life also recalls frequent crashes in that first test, but says the later sessions ran better.

When the test ended, the studio said it would “consider your thoughts and feedback in our ongoing development” and opened a player survey. The delay statement is the first time FromSoftware has said publicly what that feedback changed. It points at the rules and balance of the 8-player match, not at the servers.

Is The Duskbloods still a Switch 2 exclusive?

Yes. Nothing in the announcement changes the platform. The official site and Nintendo’s US store page both list Nintendo Switch 2 only, and Nintendo’s listing calls it “a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive.” When we checked at 15:15 UTC on October 29, that US store page still showed a 2026 release, with no price and an ESRB rating pending.

The game was revealed in the Nintendo Direct of April 2, 2025, with a 2026 window. Hidetaka Miyazaki is the director, as he confirmed in Nintendo’s Creator’s Voice interview. Players become Bloodsworn, people with special blood powers, and fight over the “First Blood.”

What the delay means for Switch 2 this holiday

The Duskbloods was one of the few big new exclusives still pencilled in for Switch 2 in 2026. Without it, Nintendo’s holiday season rests on Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, which launched October 22, and the Ocarina of Time remake on November 5. Our full list of Switch 2 games coming out in November 2026 has every dated release. The Duskbloods now joins a growing list of Switch 2 games due in 2027, such as Witchbrook on January 28. What’s next

FromSoftware hasn’t said when it will share a release date. Its statement only names 2027, and neither FromSoftware nor Nintendo has said where or when a date will be announced. No further network test has been announced either. We’ll update this post when a date, price or pre-orders appear.
