Hay Day’s Derby runs Tuesday to Monday at 08:00 UTC. Every Derby type, League task limits (5 to 9), the best tasks to pick and how to opt out, from Supercell.

The Hay Day Derby is a weekly Neighborhood race. It runs from Tuesday 8:00 AM UTC to the following Monday 8:00 AM UTC, then a 24-hour break follows. You need Farm level 18 and a Neighborhood to join. You complete Derby tasks for points, points unlock Horseshoe rewards, and the top three Neighborhoods move up a League. This guide covers how it all works according to Supercell’s own Hay Day support pages, plus which tasks are worth taking. The task advice is ours, built on the fan wiki’s task list.

Quick answer

  • Schedule: Tuesday 08:00 UTC to Monday 08:00 UTC, then a 24-hour cooldown on Monday. The current Derby ends Mon Nov 9 at 08:00 UTC and the next one starts Tue Nov 10 at 08:00 UTC (3:00 AM EST, midnight PST).
  • Who can play: Farm level 18+, in a Neighborhood. You must be opted in before the Derby starts. Joining or opting in mid-Derby means you wait for the next one.
  • Leagues: 5 Leagues, from Rookie (5 tasks) to Champions (9 tasks). Finishing top 3 means promotion. Finishing bottom 3 or missing the first Horseshoe means demotion.
  • Best tasks (our pick): take the highest-point task you can finish inside its timer. Each player only gets 5-9 tasks, so a 320-point task is worth six 50-point ones. “Until Derby ends” tasks (boats, mining, town visitors) are the safest picks.
  • Opt out: do it during the Monday cooldown. Leaders and Co-leaders can also opt members out.
  • Don’t leave mid-Derby: your points still count for the Neighborhood, but you lose your rewards.

How the Hay Day Derby works

To take a task, tap the Derby Stand in your Neighborhood Garden or the horseshoe icon at the bottom right of the screen. Each task card shows three things: what to do, a time limit (stopwatch icon) and its Derby points (horseshoe icon). Finish the task before its timer runs out and the points go to your Neighborhood’s horse. If the timer runs out, you get nothing. Supercell’s Derby Tasks & Rewards page spells this out.

Points carry the Neighborhood past checkpoints. Each checkpoint earns a Horseshoe, and each Horseshoe lets every participant pick one reward from a column when the Derby ends. Most Derbies cap out at 9 rewards, depending on your League. The top three Neighborhoods also get placement rewards, which can include exclusive decorations. The final ranking goes by points, with speed as the tie-breaker: if two Neighborhoods have the same score, the one that got there faster ranks higher.

Tasks are generated from the highest Farm level among the participating members. You can take any task at or below your own level, even if you haven’t built the building it needs. Supercell’s example: the Sushi Bar unlocks at level 56, so a level-56 player can claim Sushi Bar tasks without owning one.

Derby schedule by time zone (this week and next)

Event UTC New York (EST) Los Angeles (PST) London (GMT) India (IST) Sydney (AEDT)
Current Derby ends, cooldown starts Mon Nov 9, 08:00 Mon 3:00 AM Mon 12:00 AM Mon 8:00 AM Mon 1:30 PM Mon 7:00 PM
Next Derby starts (opt-in closes) Tue Nov 10, 08:00 Tue 3:00 AM Tue 12:00 AM Tue 8:00 AM Tue 1:30 PM Tue 7:00 PM

The pattern repeats weekly; local times shift only when daylight saving changes (US clocks went back on November 1).

Hay Day Derby leagues and how promotion works

There are five Derby Leagues. Your League sets how many tasks each member can complete and how many rewards you can win. You can see your League from the banner color above your Neighborhood House, by tapping the Neighborhood House, or by tapping the Derby Stand. These figures come from Supercell’s Derby Leagues & Matchmaking page:

League (banner color) Tasks per player Possible rewards Max points per player at 320 per task (our math)
Rookie (green) 5 5 1,600
Novice (blue) 6 6 1,920
Professional (pink) 7 7 2,240
Expert (gold) 8 8 2,560
Champions (purple) 9 9 2,880

Once you’ve used every task, you can buy one extra task with Diamonds. That adds one more task’s worth of points (+320 at most).

Promotion: a top-three finish (gold, silver or bronze) moves your Neighborhood up a League. In the Champions League there’s nowhere higher to go, so you compete on a global leaderboard instead. Demotion: you drop a League if you finish in the bottom three, fail to reach the first Horseshoe checkpoint, or have no members taking part that week. Any other finish with at least one Horseshoe keeps you in your current League. The Chill Derby has no promotions or demotions.

Matchmaking counts only the members who opted in, not the whole Neighborhood. You race against up to 14 other Neighborhoods of a similar size in your League. In higher Leagues, a rival can occasionally have one member more or fewer.

Champions League leaderboard: your score is an average over the last 4 weeks. It factors in average points per player, a bonus for larger Neighborhoods, a placement bonus, and trashed tasks per player. Every task trashed from the General Task Board lowers your weekly score. Falling to Expert resets your leaderboard points.

Hay Day Derby types explained

The Derby type changes from week to week. Supercell names each week’s type on the Derby Board in the game, and the official @hayday account has announced types in the past, for example a Power Derby on August 17, 2020. Supercell doesn’t publish a calendar of future Derby types, so be wary of any “Derby schedule 2026” list that claims to know them in advance. Here are the rules for each type on Supercell’s support pages:

Derby type What’s different Key numbers
Regular Neighborhood Derby Standard rules above 5-9 tasks per player by League
Power Derby Easier tasks for the same points; better odds of Barn and Silo expansion items 10 / 12 / 14 / 16 / 18 tasks (Rookie to Champions); extra task 10 Diamonds
Chill Derby No competition, no promotion or demotion; task stacks can’t be trashed 5 tasks a day, 50 points each; 1 extra task a day for 2 Diamonds; up to 15 Horseshoes
Bunny Derby Three Bunnies appear in the race; tasks taken during Bunny Time count toward catching them Bunnies at +6 hours, +1.5 days and +3.5 days; up to 3 extra rewards
Blossom Derby Pink-flower tasks return to the board after each completion, so other players can repeat them 320 / 350 / 375 / 400 points for the 1st-4th player; 3-day timer from first pick
Mystery Derby Purple question-mark tasks reveal themselves only after you take them 400 points each
Bingo Derby A 4×4 Bingo Board next to the task board; complete a row, column or diagonal for a prize Up to 3 extra prizes

Bunnies can also combine with Mystery, Power and Chill Derbies; the Chill Bunny version needs twice as many Bunny tasks per Bunny. The fan-run Hay Day Wiki also lists seasonal themes (Halloween, Holiday, Easter, Fishing and more), where boosted tasks pay 400 points instead of 320.

Power Derby

Task counts double (Rookie goes from 5 to 10) and tasks are easier, but they pay normal points. Supercell also lists a ceiling per League, from 14,450 in Rookie to 32,000 in Champions. The page labels these Horseshoes, but they read like point totals. It’s the best week to stock up on Barn and Silo upgrade items.

Chill Derby

The Derby Board resets daily at 08:00 UTC, but your 5-task quota resets at 00:00 UTC. Each stack holds 5 copies of one task, and a finished or trashed task goes back on the stack for anyone, including you.

Bunny Derby

Speed doesn’t pay off here. If your Neighborhood races to first place early, you can miss the second and third Bunnies, because they don’t appear until 1.5 and 3.5 days in. Supercell calls the Bunnies “an extra reward for Farmers who like to take their time.” A countdown warns you before Bunny Time starts. Take your task inside that window so it counts once you finish it.

Blossom Derby

Blossom tasks pay more each time someone repeats them, but the same player can’t do one twice. A solo player only ever gets 320 points from a Blossom task. Leaders should trash Blossom tasks that nobody can finish in the time left.

Mystery Derby

A Mystery task can be any normal task for your level, including ones for machines you haven’t bought yet. Supercell warns that trashing one “can set you back in points,” so take them only when your farm is well stocked.

Best Hay Day Derby tasks to pick (our advice)

Supercell doesn’t publish point values for each task. The fan wiki’s Derby Tasks list (last edited September 2025, and it warns it isn’t updated regularly) gives normal tasks a range of 50 to 320 points. According to the wiki’s Derby page, higher Leagues see more high-value tasks, and Champions boards are all 230-320-point tasks. Your task count is capped, so the rule we’d follow is simple. Take the highest-point task you can finish before its timer, and leave the rest.

Here are 320-point examples from the wiki list, grouped by how they fit your play time. Check the exact amount on the task card, since amounts vary by board:

Play style 320-point task (fan wiki) Timer
Can’t log in often Fill 4 boat orders Until Derby ends
Mine 99 times Until Derby ends
Fully serve 23 town visitors / help 30 times Until Derby ends
Check in once or twice a day Fill 32 truck orders 1 d 8 h
Feed animals 195 times 1 d 2 h
Play in a long session Harvest 960 wheat 4 h 30 min
Harvest 700 corn 5 h
Harvest 560 carrots 6 h 30 min
Collect 138 eggs 8 h
Strong production chain Make 11 cucumber sandwiches 11 h
Make 29 Frutti di Mare pizzas 14 h

Our rules of thumb for picking:

  • Read the stopwatch first. A failed task earns 0 points, and the wiki reports it still uses up one of your tasks. A 250-point task you’ll actually finish beats a 320 you won’t.
  • Pick tasks your farm is already set up for. Crop tasks with short timers need lots of fields. Animal-goods tasks need you to collect the goods yourself, since the wiki notes you can’t buy them from Tom or Roadside Shops.
  • Prep before Tuesday 08:00 UTC. Use the Monday cooldown to keep fields growing and Barn space free, so a crop or production task gets a head start once you pick it.
  • Leaders: trash with care. Unpicked tasks can be trashed by the Leader, Co-leaders and Elders, and a replacement appears after a short cooldown (30 minutes, per the wiki). In the Champions League, every trash lowers your leaderboard score.
  • Small Neighborhoods: use the extra task. On the wiki’s Champions checkpoint table, a solo player needs 3,186 points for the 9th Horseshoe. Nine 320-point tasks make 2,880, so you only get there with the paid tenth task.

How to opt out of the Derby in Hay Day

Supercell’s rule is that during the 24-hour cooldown on Monday (08:00 UTC Monday to 08:00 UTC Tuesday) you can opt in, opt out, or switch to another Neighborhood for the next Derby. You can’t opt in after a Derby has started. Supercell’s page doesn’t say where the switch is. According to the fan wiki’s Settings page, it’s a Derby check box under Settings: a green check mark means you’re opted in for the next Derby.

The Neighborhood Guide lists who else can change it. The Leader and Co-leaders can opt members out of the Derby. Elders can’t, but they can trash tasks.

Opting out is different from leaving. Once a Derby has started, Supercell says you shouldn’t leave the Neighborhood until it ends. If you leave or get kicked, your points stay with the Neighborhood, but you can’t claim any prizes. And if nobody in the Neighborhood takes part one week, the Neighborhood is demoted.

Why didn’t I get my Derby rewards?

Supercell lists three reasons:

  • you left the Neighborhood before the Derby ended
  • you didn’t complete at least one Derby task
  • your Neighborhood didn’t collect enough points for a Horseshoe

If none of these fits, contact Supercell Support in the game. You can reshuffle reward choices for Diamonds before claiming (5 Diamonds, per the wiki), and anything you select first is kept.

FAQ

What time does the Hay Day Derby start?

Every Tuesday at 08:00 UTC. That’s 3:00 AM EST, midnight PST, 8:00 AM in London, 1:30 PM in India and 7:00 PM in Sydney in November. It ends the following Monday at 08:00 UTC.

What level do you need for the Derby in Hay Day?

Farm level 18, and you must be in a Neighborhood. The Neighborhood House itself unlocks at level 10. Creating a Neighborhood costs 500 coins.

How many tasks can you do in a Hay Day Derby?

It depends on your League: 5 in Rookie, 6 in Novice, 7 in Professional, 8 in Expert and 9 in Champions, plus one extra task bought with Diamonds. The Power Derby doubles that (10-18), and the Chill Derby gives 5 a day.

Can I join the Derby after it starts?

No. If you join a Neighborhood or opt in after the start, you wait for the next Derby. Supercell says this keeps the race fair, because all Neighborhoods start with the same number of eligible players.
