Rockstar has released 4 GTA 6 trailers: Trailer 1 (Dec 2023), Trailer 2 (May 2025), the Extended Look (Aug 2026) and the Launch Trailer (Oct 2026).

Rockstar has released four official GTA 6 trailers. In order, they are Trailer 1 (December 4, 2023), Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025), An Extended Look (August 27, 2026, about 27 minutes of footage, shown on Netflix first) and the Launch Trailer (October 15, 2026). Each one is listed below with what it showed, when it came out and how to watch it on Rockstar’s own channel. We left out fan edits, AI-made “trailers” and anything Rockstar didn’t publish.

  • How many GTA 6 trailers are there? Four. Rockstar’s YouTube channel has Trailer 1, Trailer 2, An Extended Look and the Launch Trailer (checked November 4, 2026, 13:35 UTC).
  • Is there a GTA 6 Trailer 3? Not under that name. After Trailer 2, Rockstar released the Extended Look and then the Launch Trailer.
  • Newest trailer: the Launch Trailer, posted October 15, 2026 at 13:00 UTC, with music by Justice.
  • First real gameplay: An Extended Look. Rockstar says it was “captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5.”
  • Release: November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Digital pre-load opens November 10. Our GTA 6 release time and pre-load guide has the times for each region.

GTA 6 Trailer 1 (December 4, 2023)

Rockstar first said the GTA 6 trailer would arrive in early December 2023, then set it for Tuesday, December 5 at 9 a.m. ET. It actually went up on the evening of December 4, hours early, Game Informer reported. The trailer confirmed the game’s name and the return to Vice City, and it gave a 2025 release year on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no PC version.

What Trailer 1 showed:

  • Lucia first. The trailer opens on Lucia, who appears to be in prison.
  • A second, unnamed protagonist. A man is shown as Lucia’s partner. Trailer 2 later named him as Jason Duval. Lucia’s line, “The only way we’re going to get through this is by sticking together, being a team. Trust?”, leads into the pair robbing a store.
  • Modern Vice City and the state around it. It shows beaches, swamps inspired by the Everglades, neon-lit highways, clubs, alligators, mudding, car shows and lots of clips styled like social media posts.
  • The music. The song is Tom Petty’s “Love Is A Long Road”, credited in the video description.

On views: Trailer 1 got 93 million YouTube views in its first day, VGC reported on September 2, 2026. That figure counts YouTube only.

GTA 6 Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025)

Trailer 2 came out days after Rockstar delayed the game into 2026. Its end card gave a date of May 26, 2026, which Rockstar later moved to November 19, 2026 in a second delay announced on November 6, 2025. Rockstar’s description says the trailer “was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes”, and it introduces the story summary Rockstar still uses: “when an easy score goes wrong,” Jason and Lucia end up “in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida.”

What Trailer 2 showed, according to PC Gamer’s breakdown:

  • Full names. Jason Duval says his full name at the prison, and Lucia’s surname, Caminos, appears too.
  • The opening of the story. Jason lives in a run-down beach property and does favours for his shady landlord instead of paying rent. He and Lucia reunite when she gets out of prison.
  • Hints at side systems. Jason weightlifts, Lucia kicks an opponent in a caged fight arena, the couple’s house changes between scenes, and there’s a Vice City elevated train like Miami’s Metrorail. PC Gamer also spotted wildlife, including cats.
  • Music. The credited song is The Pointer Sisters’ “Hot Together”. PC Gamer also heard Wang Chung’s “Everybody Have Fun Tonight”.

The same day, Rockstar’s GTA VI site added profiles for Jason, Lucia and six supporting characters: Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan Priest, Real Dimez, Raul Bautista and Brian Heder (Gematsu has the full text). Our GTA 6 characters list goes through each of them.

On views: Rockstar told The Hollywood Reporter that Trailer 2 was watched 475 million times across all platforms in its first 24 hours, TechRadar reported on May 8, 2025. Rockstar didn’t say which platforms it counted, so this number can’t be compared directly with Trailer 1’s YouTube-only total.

GTA 6 An Extended Look (August 27, 2026)

Rockstar announced the Extended Look on August 6, 2026 with a short video on its channel. It premiered on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET (19:00 UTC). It reached Rockstar’s YouTube channel and the GTA VI site at 9 p.m. ET, which was 01:00 UTC on August 28. Netflix lists it at 27 minutes, and the YouTube upload runs 26 minutes 49 seconds. This was the first long look at GTA 6 gameplay. Rockstar’s description says it was “captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5” and calls it “the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet.”

What the Extended Look showed, according to breakdowns from TechRadar and Push Square:

  • A full mission. It opens with Jason and Lucia collecting a package for Boobie. Gameplay moves straight into cutscenes and back again.
  • Instant character switching. One button swaps between Jason and Lucia, and the camera sweeps across the city to the other character in a couple of seconds.
  • Combat changes. There’s a focus meter that slows time, highlighted weak spots on enemies, quick weapon pickups from downed enemies and a two-choice prompt during a fist fight.
  • Police. The Wanted meter now has six stars, police don’t appear on the minimap, the minimap is 3D, and you can shoot out pursuers’ tires. Our GTA 6 Wanted system guide covers how that works, and the Criminal Profile explainer covers the record of crimes that builds up as you play.
  • Things to do. It shows track races with cars and bikes, fanboats, jet skis and canoes, scuba diving, base jumping from a skyscraper, and disguises or outfit changes for jobs.
  • NPC interactions in the style of Red Dead Redemption 2. You can choose how to talk to people in the world.

On views: Netflix said the Extended Look was viewed 31.1 million times between August 27 and August 30 and ranked No. 1 in 87 of the 93 countries it tracks, VGC reported on September 2, 2026. Netflix works out views as total watch time divided by runtime, so that figure isn’t comparable with YouTube view counts.

GTA 6 Launch Trailer (October 15, 2026)

The newest trailer went up at 13:00 UTC on October 15, 2026, alongside a Rockstar Newswire post titled “Watch the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer”. Rockstar says it was captured in-game on PlayStation 5. It debuts Justice’s single “Flower in a Hurricane” featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and ends on “Grand Theft Auto VI arrives November 19.”

The footage opens in the Leonida Keys and gives Jason more backstory, including a line about getting “in trouble in the army”. It also shows heists, police chases and a helicopter getaway. We went through it scene by scene in our GTA 6 Launch Trailer breakdown. Every song confirmed in the trailers and on Rockstar’s music page is in the GTA 6 soundtrack list, and the six stations named so far are in our GTA 6 radio stations guide.

Other official GTA 6 videos (not trailers)

Rockstar’s channel also has two shorter GTA 6 videos that aren’t trailers:

Video Date What it was
Grand Theft Auto VI: Official Cover Art Reveal June 18, 2026 The cover art, plus the news that pre-orders would open June 25
Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look Coming August 27 August 6, 2026 A short teaser with the Netflix and YouTube premiere times

Rockstar also posted several short “An Extended Look — Now Playing” clips on August 28. They’re promos for the Extended Look, not new trailers.

Is there a GTA 6 Trailer 3?

No video called “Trailer 3” exists on Rockstar’s channel or Newswire. The two official releases after Trailer 2 were the Extended Look and the Launch Trailer. A video billed as “GTA 6 Trailer 3” on another channel is a fan edit or a reupload, not a Rockstar release. As of November 4, Rockstar hasn’t announced any more trailers before launch. The next official dates are the pre-load on November 10 and release on November 19, both covered in our release time and pre-load guide.
