Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, Override, ends on November 1, 2026 (Eastern Time). That’s the date on Epic’s own Battle Pass page, and Fortnitemares ends with it. Epic hasn’t posted an exact hour yet, and it hasn’t announced Chapter 8 either. Leaks point to a short mini-season first, then Chapter 8 in early December. Here’s the Fortnite season end date, what’s official, what’s only a leak, and what to finish first.

Quick answer
- Season end date: Override ends November 1, 2026, Eastern Time, per Epic’s Battle Pass page.
- In-game wording: the Passes tab says the Battle Pass is “Available through OCT 31 2026”. So the cutover lands around midnight going into November 1.
- Exact time: not announced. Outlet estimates disagree, so don’t plan around any single hour.
- Live event: not confirmed by Epic.
- Next season: leakers say a short mini-season starts November 1. Epic hasn’t confirmed it.
- Chapter 8 release date: unannounced. Leaks say December 1 or December 5, 2026.
- Safe deadline: finish your Battle Pass, Fortnitemares quests and Sprite goals by Friday, October 30. That leaves you a buffer.

When does the Fortnite season end?
Override started on August 20, 2026. It has two end dates floating around, and both come from Epic.
- Epic’s Battle Pass page says: “Ends November 1, 2026 Eastern Time.”
- Epic’s Fortnitemares 2026 announcement says the event is “running until November 1.”
- The in-game Passes screen says “Available through OCT 31 2026” for the Battle Pass, the Neon Dreams Music Pass and the Soaring Skies LEGO Pass. That’s visible in a player screenshot posted on X on August 30.
These don’t contradict each other. “Through October 31” and “ends November 1” both describe a cutover around midnight, which is when the date flips. That’s why some guides print October 31 and others print November 1. iGeeksBlog and Dexerto list October 31. Insider Gaming and Game Rant list November 1.
The simple rule: treat Saturday, October 31 as your last full day to play Override.
What time does the season end?
Epic hasn’t said. As of October 22 there’s no downtime post on @FortniteStatus, the account Epic uses for downtime times. The estimates out there don’t agree:
- iGeeksBlog expects the season to wrap “around 1:00 AM PT”, but says Epic hasn’t confirmed it.
- Dexerto expects one more update, v42.50, on October 29, with downtime around 2 AM ET. That’s based on the usual patch rhythm, not an announcement. Polygon, on the other hand, calls the October 15 update the season’s last one.
Epic usually posts downtime times shortly before. For example, on May 27, 2026 it posted that v40.41 downtime would begin “tonight at 4 AM ET (8 AM UTC)”, on @FortniteStatus. We’ll update this guide when the real time drops. Until then, the countdown in your in-game Battle Pass tab is the best clock you have.

Only the season end is official. Everything after November 1 comes from leaks and outlet reports. Epic hasn’t said a word about it yet.
Is there a live event to end Chapter 7 Season 4?
Not confirmed. Epic hasn’t announced a finale event for Override (checked October 22, 08:30 UTC). Insider Gaming says the season is “expected” to end with a live event, but that’s a prediction.
The past gives a hint, nothing more. Epic did run an end-of-season live event this chapter. It flagged one for Friday, June 5, 2026. And last year’s season-to-mini-season switch had a short in-game moment too. On November 1, 2025, Epic thanked players for logging in to see the “Welcome, Our Alien Overlords” mini-event that opened The Simpsons mini-season.
If Epic announces an event, log in early. Fortnite live events usually play once and don’t rerun, and for last year’s Zero Hour Epic opened the doors at 1:20 PM ET and paused some experiences ahead of the show.
What comes after Override? The mini-season leaks
Here’s where you need to be careful. Chapter 8 probably isn’t next. Leakers expect a short bridge season first.
- In September, VICE reported a leaked update schedule from dataminers. It lists the season end, a new mini-season on November 1, an update on November 12, and Chapter 8 Season 1 on Saturday, December 5. VICE adds that the dates “could always change.”
- Insider Gaming says the November mini-season should run for one month, with Chapter 8 starting December 1. It doesn’t cite a source for that date.
- The theme is the hottest rumor. Leakers say One Piece. Epic hasn’t announced a One Piece collab. We track every clue, from the pirate chest to the Madrid metro posters, in our Fortnite One Piece mini-season rumor report.
This isn’t new for Epic, by the way. Last year followed the same pattern. The Simpsons mini-season ran through November 2025. Then the Zero Hour finale event played on Saturday, November 29, 2025, and Chapter 7 Season 1 launched right after it. Polygon reported a seven-hour countdown after that event, with the new chapter going live on November 29 or 30, depending on your time zone.

Fortnite Chapter 8 release date: what we know
Epic hasn’t announced a Chapter 8 release date, map or trailer. Here’s what’s out there:
- December 5, 2026: from the leaked schedule VICE reported. It’s a Saturday, like last year’s chapter launch.
- December 1, 2026: Insider Gaming’s date, with no source given.
- New map, weapons and mechanics: Polygon writes that Chapter 8 will replace the current island, weapons, theme and key mechanics. That’s what new chapters have done before, but Epic hasn’t shown anything yet.
- Chapter finale event: likely, going by last year’s Zero Hour. Still unconfirmed.
Epic does move dates. In February 2026 it announced it was “taking one more fortnite for next season” and that “CH7S2 drops March 19”. So until Epic posts a date, treat every Chapter 8 date as a guess.
What to do before the season ends (in this order)
You’ve got about nine days. Here’s the order we’d tackle things in, based on what disappears for good.
- Finish Fortnitemares quests. Complete all 26 Nitemare quests to unlock the free Jack-A-Nape outfit. Our Fortnitemares 2026 guide lists every quest and reward.
- Push your Battle Pass. Any reward you haven’t claimed is lost when the season ends. Game Rant notes you need at least level 200 for every reward, including the bonus rewards and Super Styles. The pass also pays back up to 800 V-Bucks, which is enough for the next one, according to Epic.
- Grab Lobby Hack XP. Several Admin Panel codes give extra XP and free Sprites. They’re all in our Fortnite admin panel codes list.
- Complete your Sprite goals. Game Rant says the free Pixel Polli outfit needs 28 mastered Sprites, and the Trick or Treat Sprites leave with Fortnitemares. Use our Fortnite Sprites list and checklist to see what you’re missing.
- Play the horror islands with friends. Epic’s in-game news says teaming up on its Fortnitemares collection unlocks the Safety in Numbers quest. Our Fortnite horror map codes list has 12 of the most-played ones.
- Watch @FortniteStatus. The downtime time and any live event will show up there first.
