Epic has not said yet whether Fortnite ranks reset with the Treasure Hunters update (v43.00) on November 1. At our check (November 1, 2026, 00:40 UTC), Epic’s status notice and @FortniteStatus said nothing about ranked, and the v43.00 patch notes weren’t out. What Epic has confirmed is the timing. Downtime runs 05:00 to 08:00 UTC, so any reset would show up when servers come back. And Epic’s own rule is that Battle Royale and Zero Build ranks reset when a season ends.
Below is what Epic’s ranked FAQ and patch notes say, when each ladder last reset, what you keep, and how Epic handled past season changes. We’ll update this page once Epic posts the v43.00 notes.

Quick answer
- Confirmed reset on November 1? No, not yet. Epic hasn’t posted v43.00 patch notes or a ranked post (checked 00:40 UTC).
- When it would happen: with the v43.00 update. Matchmaking turns off at 04:30 UTC, downtime is 05:00-08:00 UTC (1 AM EDT to 3 AM EST).
- Epic’s rule: “Battle Royale and Zero Build ranks reset whenever a season ends,” while other modes “may have other reset times” (Epic help center).
- Battle Royale last reset: August 20, 2026 (v42.00, Override): “Battle Royale ranks have reset for the new Season.”
- Reload last reset: October 8, 2026 (Kado’s Curse), “a new full reset” Ranked season. Epic hasn’t said when it ends.
- What you keep: your Skill Rating, so matchmaking still sees your skill after a reset. Each mode’s rank is separate.

Does Fortnite ranked reset on November 1?
Here’s where each ranked ladder stands going into the update. Each one is separate. Epic’s ranked FAQ says Battle Royale, Zero Build and Reload “each have their own separate rank progression”, and your rank in one doesn’t affect the others.
| Mode | Last official reset | November 1 reset? | What Epic says |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ranked Battle Royale | Aug 20, 2026 (v42.00, Override) | Not announced | Ranks reset “whenever a season ends” |
| Ranked Zero Build | Its own ladder; covered by the same season rule | Not announced | Same rule as Battle Royale in Epic’s help center |
| Ranked Reload | Oct 8, 2026 (Kado’s Curse, full reset) | Not announced | Runs on its own “Ranked period”; no end date posted |
The open question is whether Treasure Hunters counts as a new ranked season. Epic hasn’t called it one or said otherwise. The Override Battle Pass page says the pass “Ends November 1, 2026 Eastern Time”. On October 31, @FortniteStatus referred to “our mini season Battle Passes” and said the next LEGO Pass “drops December 5 with our next big update”. Neither post mentions ranked.
What time would the ranked reset happen?
If ranks reset, they reset with the update itself. That means the first ranked match after servers return. Epic’s status page posted the window on October 30: “Scheduled downtime for v43.00 begins at 1 AM ET (5 AM UTC). Matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes prior.” US clocks go back at 2 AM on November 1, which is why the end time is in EST.
| Moment | UTC | US Eastern | US Pacific | UK | Central Europe | India | Sydney |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Matchmaking off | 04:30 | 12:30 AM EDT | 9:30 PM PDT (Oct 31) | 4:30 AM | 5:30 AM | 10:00 AM | 3:30 PM |
| Downtime starts | 05:00 | 1:00 AM EDT | 10:00 PM PDT (Oct 31) | 5:00 AM | 6:00 AM | 10:30 AM | 4:00 PM |
| Scheduled end | 08:00 | 3:00 AM EST | 1:00 AM PDT | 8:00 AM | 9:00 AM | 1:30 PM | 7:00 PM |
Downtime can run past the scheduled end. Our Fortnite server status page tracks whether servers are back and how long past downtimes lasted.
What you keep after a Fortnite rank reset
A reset is less drastic than it sounds. Going by Epic’s own posts, this is what carries over:
- Your Skill Rating. Epic’s 2026 FNCS Schedule and Competitive Updates post says: “when Ranks reset you’ll retain your Skill Rating, and you’ll be matched up with players at a similar skill level.” Reload got the same change with its July 30 Springfield season, per Epic’s Reload post.
- Your other modes. A Battle Royale reset doesn’t touch Reload, and the other way round. Each ladder resets on its own schedule.
- Last season’s rank for tournaments (planned). In the same FNCS post, Epic said it would update tournament eligibility “to include both your current Rank and your previous Season’s Rank”, whichever is higher, “later this year”. We couldn’t confirm it’s live yet, so check each cup’s rules in the Compete tab.
What doesn’t carry over is the protection you earned. Epic’s ranked FAQ says that once you reach Elite, you “cannot be demoted below it for the rest of the season”. That floor only lasts for the season.
Full reset or partial reset?
Epic has used both words, depending on the mode and the season:
- Battle Royale and Zero Build: the ranked FAQ says ranks “partially reset at the start of each new season”. After the Chapter 4 Season OG reset, Epic told players to “play one Ranked match to have your rank revealed” in each mode. That first match reveals your rank and then moves your progress bar. Epic says it doesn’t decide your starting placement.
- Reload: Epic’s Ranked Reload announcement says “everyone’s Reload rank will reset” at the start of a new Ranked period, and “your beginning rank will depend on your finishing rank in the previous period”. Kado’s Curse on October 8 was different. Epic called it “a new full reset” season.
Fortnite Reload ranked reset: when it happens
Reload doesn’t follow the Battle Royale calendar. Epic’s help center says other modes “may have other reset times”, and Reload has reset several times mid-season. Here are the two most recent Reload ranked seasons, both from Epic’s Reload posts:
| Date (2026) | Reload ranked season | What Epic said |
|---|---|---|
| July 30 | Springfield (The Simpsons map) | “A new Ranked Season has landed”. Skill Rating now kept through resets, Unreal Legends tier added, new Axe of Unreal reward |
| October 8 | Kado’s Curse (Nitemare Island) | “A new full reset, Ranked season” with Elite Kado Thorne-themed rewards and a Kado-themed Axe of Unreal |
Epic hasn’t said when Kado’s Curse ends, or whether v43.00 starts a new Reload season. Our Fortnite Reload map rotation and loot pool guide will pick up the new Reload notes when Epic posts them.

How Epic handled past season changes (history)
This is history, not a forecast. Each row comes from Epic’s own post for that season.
| When | Season change | What happened to ranks | Epic source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nov 2023 | Chapter 4 Season OG (a short season) | “Every player’s rank has been reset”. One ranked match per mode reveals your rank. Progression was faster at middle and higher ranks because the season was short | Season OG Competitive Details |
| Nov 2024 | Chapter 2 Remix | Epic’s Remix post restated the rule: at the end of a Battle Royale season, “ranks are reset for all players, and placement matches must be completed again” | Chapter 2 Remix Competitive Details |
| Nov 29 – Dec 4, 2025 | Chapter 7 launch (v39.00) | Ranked was offline at launch. Epic said Ranked would return “once the Battle Bus is back in commission on December 4” | v39.00 notes |
| Aug 20, 2026 | Chapter 7 Season 4, Override (v42.00) | “Battle Royale ranks have reset for the new Season”, with new rewards from Gold up to Unreal | v42.00 notes |
| Oct 8, 2026 | Reload: Kado’s Curse | “A new full reset” Reload ranked season | Reload post |
The November 2023 and November 2024 changes are the closest match to a short November season, and both reset Battle Royale ranks. We couldn’t find an Epic statement on ranks for the November 2025 Simpsons mini-season, so it isn’t in the table. None of this confirms what v43.00 does.
How to check if your rank reset after the update
- Wait for servers. Downtime is scheduled to end at 08:00 UTC. @FortniteStatus usually posts when it’s over, with links to the new update notes.
- Turn Ranked on in the lobby and look at the rank emblem for each mode (Battle Royale, Zero Build, Reload).
- If it asks for a match, play one ranked match in that mode. After past resets, that was enough to reveal your new rank.
- If your rank looks wrong, restart the game. That’s Epic’s support fix for rank-display mismatches. Epic also says its support team “can not reset your rank or MMR” (Epic help), so a ticket won’t change it.
While you wait, our Fortnite Treasure Hunters season guide covers what Epic has shown of the new season. We’ll also add the new weekly quests to our Fortnite quests this week page.
New: Ranked matchmaking changes (October 30)
Separate from any reset, Epic’s competitive account changed Ranked matchmaking on October 30. “Fairness comes before getting into matches as fast as possible,” Epic says. Here’s what that means:
- Tighter matches in all Ranked tiers, which can mean longer queues, “especially at higher ranks and off-peak hours”.
- Parties still match at the highest-ranked member’s rank. Bronze, Silver and Gold players queuing with Elite, Champion or Unreal friends should “expect more difficult matches”.
- Some matches may land on a server a bit farther from your preferred subregion, so you don’t wait forever.
FAQ
When does Fortnite ranked reset?
Battle Royale and Zero Build ranks reset when a Battle Royale season ends, according to Epic’s help center. Reload resets on its own schedule. For November 1, Epic hasn’t confirmed a reset. If one happens, it comes with the v43.00 update (downtime 05:00-08:00 UTC).
Does Fortnite Reload ranked reset with the new season?
Not necessarily. Reload last reset on October 8, 2026 with Kado’s Curse, a mid-season change. Epic hasn’t said whether v43.00 starts a new Reload ranked season.
Is the Fortnite rank reset a full reset?
For Battle Royale and Zero Build, Epic’s FAQ calls it a partial reset. One ranked match reveals your new rank, and you keep your Skill Rating. Some seasons have been full resets, such as Season OG in 2023 and Reload’s Kado’s Curse in October 2026.
Can Epic reset my rank if it dropped?
No. Epic’s help center says support “can not reset your rank or MMR”. If the rank looks wrong right after an update, restart the game first.
