Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5, officially called the Edgerunners 2 Update, launches on Thursday, October 22, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and it is free. CD Projekt Red announced it on October 20, the same day Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premiered on Netflix, and says the Nintendo Switch 2 version will “follow shortly”.
The studio is keeping most of the contents under wraps until a REDstreams broadcast on Wednesday, October 21, at 5 PM CEST (15:00 UTC, 11 a.m. EDT). Full patch notes are due the same day. What CD Projekt Red has confirmed so far: content inspired by the new anime, “a range of other new items and features”, cyberware customization and a new dual-wielding playstyle.

What’s in the Edgerunners 2 Update?
According to CD Projekt Red’s official announcement, the free update “will introduce a range of new items and features to the game, including content inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.” The REDstreams post on cyberpunk.net and the official @CyberpunkGame account on X name three things the stream will cover:
- Cyberware customization, a new way to tweak V’s implants (CD Projekt Red hasn’t said how it works yet).
- A new dual-wielding playstyle, which lines up with the update’s key art of V firing two pistols at once.
- “And more”: anime-inspired items, with the full list held back for the patch notes.
That’s everything official right now. There’s no word on new quests, new areas or a new character you can meet in Night City, so treat any claims along those lines as speculation until the patch notes are live.

How the update ties into Edgerunners 2
The teaser post (“NEW UPDATE INCOMING… [v.2.5][22.10.26]”) went up on X at 10:00 UTC on October 20. Its illustration puts the game’s male V back to back with Weak Kingsley, a character from Edgerunners 2, according to the post’s own image description. CD Projekt Red credited three anime artists for that art: Taisei Uchida (original art), Yukiko Kakita (ink and paint check) and Yuichiro Tozawa (special effects).

Is Update 2.5 coming to Switch 2 and Mac?
Switch 2: yes, but later. CD Projekt Red only says it will “follow shortly” after the October 22 launch. Mac isn’t named in the announcement, even though the game runs on macOS (Steam lists Mac support) and Patch 2.31 shipped on Mac in September 2025. Wait for the patch notes before assuming a same-day Mac release. PS4 and Xbox One are no longer supported by new updates; Cyberpunk 2077 dropped them with Update 2.0 in 2023.
How to get it
If you own Cyberpunk 2077 on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic, Battle.net), PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, the update downloads automatically once it’s live. CD Projekt Red hasn’t said whether any of the new content requires the Phantom Liberty expansion; the patch notes should settle that. The game is also on Xbox Game Pass Premium and Ultimate. What’s next
The REDstreams episode airs Wednesday at 15:00 UTC on Twitch, YouTube and Steam, and the patch notes follow the same day. Update 2.5 then goes live on Thursday, October 22, with the Switch 2 version still to be dated.
