The $519.99 Zelda Switch 2 restocked briefly on Nintendo’s US store on Oct 30, then sold out. Best Buy has units Nov 5; Walmart and Target give no date.

Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 restocks are happening, but in short bursts. Nintendo’s US store listed the $519.99 console as in stock when we checked on October 30 at 08:44 UTC, the day after its October 29 launch, and it was sold out again by 08:48 UTC. The matching Pro Controller, the Pro Controller and display stand set, and the carrying case stayed out of stock throughout.

Best Buy is the only US retailer with a dated chance to buy one. Here’s where each store stands.

Is the Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 in stock?

Only in brief windows. When the Nintendo Store listing is live, it sells the console at its $519.99 list price with a limit of two per cart. Nintendo Insider reported a Nintendo of America restock on launch day, and this morning’s stock was gone within four minutes of our check. The drops are real, but they go quickly.

The accessories are a different story. The $99.99 Zelda Pro Controller, the $109.99 Pro Controller with Hyrule display stand and the $39.99 carrying case were all marked out of stock, and Nintendo hasn’t given a date for any of them.

Best Buy’s November 5 midnight opening

Best Buy’s late-night opening page says select stores open at midnight ET on Thursday, November 5 (9 p.m. PT on November 4) for the Ocarina of Time launch. It promises “limited numbers” of the anniversary console and Pro Controller, with “limited quantities; no rainchecks; game not included.” If you’d rather pick up a shipped Ocarina pre-order at the event, Best Buy says to change the order by Tuesday, November 3 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

What happened at Walmart and Target

Walmart cancelled some pre-orders a day before launch, Kotaku reported and Nintendo Life followed. Customer service reportedly told buyers it had “oversold.” Pricier listings that appeared afterwards may be third-party sellers, so check the seller before you buy.

The Shortcut and Nintendo Life also report an internal Walmart note, shared on Reddit, saying a “supply chain delay” means some stores may not get the console in time and won’t sell it until November. Nintendo Life adds that some Target pre-order customers are reportedly being told their orders won’t arrive until mid-November. Neither retailer has published a restock date, so don’t plan around one yet.

What Nintendo has said about restocks

Nintendo’s clearest comments still come from Bill van Zyll, its general manager for Latin America. In an interview transcribed by Nintendo Everything, he said Nintendo “underestimated” demand and is “working on replenishments” of the hardware, the controller and the software, but “I can’t tell you dates right now.” We covered that interview and the pre-launch picture in our earlier Zelda Switch 2 restock report. The short Nintendo Store drops since launch show that promise reaching US buyers, a few units at a time.

How to get one at list price

  • Watch the Nintendo Store. Nintendo’s store had online stock on launch day and again this morning, both times with no advance notice. Nintendo’s own advice is to add the item to your Wish List in the Nintendo Store app to get a notification when it’s back.
  • Plan for Best Buy on November 5 if you live near a participating store, and arrive early: quantities are limited and there are no rainchecks.
  • Skip marked-up listings. The list price is $519.99, and Nintendo keeps adding stock.
  • Remember the game is separate. No game comes in the box. Ocarina of Time launches on November 5 at $59.99 digital or $69.99 physical. Our Ocarina of Time Switch 2 editions guide covers the editions and pre-order bonuses.

It’s worth your time if you don’t own a Switch 2 yet and Zelda is your series; if you do, the Pro Controller gives you most of the look for far less. Our Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 price and bundle breakdown compares it with the other bundles.

What’s next

Ocarina of Time and Best Buy’s midnight event both arrive on November 5. Walmart’s affected stores reportedly can’t sell the console until November, and neither Walmart nor Target has given a restock date. For everything else landing that month, see our list of Switch 2 games coming out in November 2026. We’ll update this post when Nintendo or a major US retailer announces new stock.
