WoW Forever dungeons by level, in short: Blizzard added nine new five-player dungeons that run from level 13 to level 60. The first is Hall of Thanes (13-18) beneath Ironforge and the last is Shaper’s Terrace (58-60) in Un’Goro Crater. Six are in the Eastern Kingdoms and three in Kalimdor. City of Dalaran (28-33) is the only one with a published quest starter, an attunement questline that begins in Southshore for the Alliance or Tarren Mill for the Horde.
Everything below comes from two Blizzard articles: the Explore the New Dungeons of World of Warcraft: Forever overview (October 20) and the World of Warcraft: Forever Now Live! launch post (November 4). Where Blizzard gives no detail, we say so. We used no beta datamines or loot tables. Checked November 5, 2026, 12:30 UTC.
Table of Contents
Quick answer
- How many: nine new five-player dungeons, levels 13 to 60.
- Lowest: Hall of Thanes, 13-18, beneath Ironforge in Dun Morogh.
- Highest: Blackmaw Hold (55-60, Azshara) and Shaper’s Terrace (58-60, Un’Goro Crater).
- Attunement: City of Dalaran (28-33) needs a questline first. Alliance: “An Alarming Request” from Emissary Jacques in Southshore. Horde: “Key to the City” and “Prison Break-In” from Magus Wordeen Voidglare in Tarren Mill.
- Cross-faction trips: Hall of Thanes sits in Alliance territory and Ruins of Lordaeron in Horde territory, so the other faction has to travel in.
- Not covered by Blizzard yet: quest givers for the other eight dungeons, loot, and a Forever list of the original dungeons with their level ranges.
All WoW Forever dungeons by level
This table puts all nine in level order, using Blizzard’s ranges and locations. The “Entrance” column uses the more detailed location from each dungeon’s own section of the overview.
| Levels | Dungeon | Zone | Continent | Entrance (Blizzard’s description) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 13-18 | Hall of Thanes | Dun Morogh | Eastern Kingdoms | Beneath Ironforge |
| 15-20 | Ruins of Lordaeron | Tirisfal Glades | Eastern Kingdoms | The ruined city above the Undercity |
| 24-29 | Excavation Site | Wetlands | Eastern Kingdoms | Above Whelgar’s Excavation, near Thelgen Rock and Dun Algaz |
| 28-33 | City of Dalaran | Alterac Mountains | Eastern Kingdoms | Through the city sewers, after the attunement questline |
| 35-40 | The Drowned City | Stranglethorn Vale (coast) | Eastern Kingdoms | Off the coast, west of Grom’gol; dive below the water to find it |
| 40-45 | Krol’dok Stronghold | Riverglades | Eastern Kingdoms | Riverglades (no closer location given) |
| 48-53 | Alcaz Prison | Dustwallow Marsh | Kalimdor | Alcaz Island |
| 55-60 | Blackmaw Hold | Azshara | Kalimdor | Beyond a long-sealed gate in Azshara |
| 58-60 | Shaper’s Terrace | Un’Goro Crater | Kalimdor | The northern hills of Un’Goro Crater |
Blizzard’s own table lists Krol’dok Stronghold under the Eastern Kingdoms. Riverglades is one of the new zones in the launch post, with “more than 150 new quests across much of the mid-30s to mid-40s experience”, so Krol’dok (40-45) sits at the top end of that zone. Our WoW Forever leveling guide shows where each dungeon falls on the full 1-60 route.
Which new dungeon to run at your level
The ranges overlap in four places and leave a few gaps. The table below is our reading of Blizzard’s numbers, not an official chart. Treat the gap levels as questing levels, or as levels for original dungeons once you know their Forever ranges.
| Your level | New dungeons in range | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 13-14 | Hall of Thanes | The first new dungeon; Zephras Isle, the Skyborne start, covers levels 1-12 |
| 15-18 | Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron | Two options: pick the one on your faction’s side |
| 19-20 | Ruins of Lordaeron | Top of the second dungeon |
| 21-23 | None | Gap in the new dungeons |
| 24-27 | Excavation Site | Wetlands |
| 28-29 | Excavation Site, City of Dalaran | Start the Dalaran attunement here |
| 30-33 | City of Dalaran | Requires the attunement questline |
| 34 | None | One-level gap |
| 35-39 | The Drowned City | Stranglethorn coast |
| 40 | The Drowned City, Krol’dok Stronghold | One-level overlap |
| 41-45 | Krol’dok Stronghold | Riverglades |
| 46-47 | None | Gap before Kalimdor’s dungeons |
| 48-53 | Alcaz Prison | Dustwallow Marsh |
| 54 | None | One-level gap |
| 55-57 | Blackmaw Hold | Azshara |
| 58-60 | Blackmaw Hold, Shaper’s Terrace | Both are level-60 content |

Eastern Kingdoms dungeons
Hall of Thanes (13-18): beneath Ironforge
The burial halls of the dwarven kings, deep below Ironforge, where Blizzard says intruders, “suspected to be Dark Iron dwarves,” have broken in. Access: Alliance players can reach the entrance from inside their capital. Horde groups have to travel into Alliance territory. Quest starter: not named by Blizzard.
Ruins of Lordaeron (15-20): above the Undercity
Set in the ruined city above the Undercity in Tirisfal Glades. The Forsaken are trying to reclaim it, and there are reports of a necromancer gathering power inside. Access: the Horde mirror of Hall of Thanes. Horde players get in easily from the Undercity, and Alliance groups have to enter Horde territory. Quest starter: not named.
Excavation Site (24-29): Wetlands
Beyond Whelgar’s Excavation, near Thelgen Rock and Dun Algaz. Blizzard describes a place “seemingly frozen in time” guarded by titan constructs and wildlife, and says the Explorers’ League will want to know about it. Quest starter: not named.
City of Dalaran (28-33): Alterac Mountains
The only new dungeon with a confirmed entry requirement. You earn the Kirin Tor’s trust through an attunement questline, then enter through the sewers and work into the city. Blizzard says you choose “among multiple paths and encounters” on the way to the final source of the trouble.
| Faction | First quest(s) | Quest giver | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alliance | “An Alarming Request” | Emissary Jacques | Southshore |
| Horde | “Key to the City” and “Prison Break-In” | Magus Wordeen Voidglare | Tarren Mill |
Blizzard doesn’t say how many steps the questline has or the level needed to pick it up.
The Drowned City (35-40): off the Stranglethorn coast
Ancient troll ruins that have risen from the sea west of Grom’gol, now full of trolls and naga, with a wrecked pirate ship nearby. Getting in: dive below the water to find the entrance. It’s an open-air dungeon, and the weather builds from mist and rain into a full storm before the final fight. Quest starter: not named.
Krol’dok Stronghold (40-45): Riverglades
A large ogre fortress with workshops, camps and guarded interior passages. Ogre outrunners have been kidnapping travelers across the Riverglades, and Blizzard mentions “strange chanting” from the stronghold after nightfall. Quest starter: not named; Blizzard says only that you follow the ogres’ trail to the stronghold.

Kalimdor dungeons
Alcaz Prison (48-53): Alcaz Island, Dustwallow Marsh
The prison on Alcaz Island is open for the first time. Inside, the Defias Brotherhood and naga are fighting each other. Blizzard links it to the old rumors of high-ranking prisoners there, King Varian Wrynn among them, and to “a familiar mystery.” Quest starter: not named.
Blackmaw Hold (55-60): Azshara
A furbolg city behind a long-sealed gate in Azshara, where the Blackmaw clan is fighting a spreading corruption. Blizzard calls it “a substantial max-level adventure with multiple routes and bosses”, and says its deepest part may lead “even farther below Azeroth.” Quest starter: not named.
Shaper’s Terrace (58-60): northern Un’Goro Crater
A titan facility in the northern hills above Un’Goro Crater. It’s the one dungeon with a stated outdoor requirement: collect power crystals around Un’Goro and use them at consoles inside. Collecting them while you quest in the crater saves a second trip (our tip, not Blizzard’s). Quest starter: not named.

What about the original dungeons?
Blizzard says the nine new dungeons are “rooted in the original World of Warcraft”. The launch post places WoW Forever after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core, and links the new Shen’dralas zone to Dire Maul’s story. Neither article lists the original five-player dungeons in Forever or their level ranges. We haven’t filled that gap from older versions of the game, because Blizzard calls Forever’s zones “new and reimagined” and older ranges may not hold. When Blizzard publishes a full list, we’ll add it to this guide.
After level 60: raids open December 9
According to the launch post, three raids open to level 60 players on December 9: Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia’s Lair. Onyxia’s Lair has an entry step the first time you go in, which Blizzard explains in its raid overview. Until then, Blackmaw Hold and Shaper’s Terrace are the highest-level new dungeons.
Tips before you queue
- Use campsites between pulls. The launch post says Camp Features need you to sit or craft at a campsite for at least 1 minute, and their buffs don’t stack with the matching class buffs. Our professions guide lists which professions make Camp Features.
- Plan cross-faction trips early. Horde groups for Hall of Thanes and Alliance groups for Ruins of Lordaeron have to travel through enemy territory. On a PvP ruleset, Blizzard says “you are almost always at risk of being attacked by opposing players”.
- Build a balanced group. Forever opens new race and class combinations; see our races and classes guide.
- Track your Legacy progress. Our Legacy System guide lists the account-wide Legacy Challenges, dungeon ones included.
- Check the servers first. Before a long run, our WoW Forever server status page tracks what Blizzard has posted. Missed the launch? Our release time guide has the regional times.
