WoW Forever professions work like the original game’s at the core: every character can learn two primary professions (three gathering, six crafting) plus all three secondary professions (Cooking, Fishing, First Aid). What’s new is where the bonuses come from. From skill 20, almost every profession can place a Camp Feature at a campfire that grants a buff, and the account-wide Legacy System adds profession perks on top. WoW: Forever goes live on November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST (23:00 UTC) in all regions at once, according to Blizzard’s launch-time post.
Every fact below comes from Blizzard’s own pages. Checked November 4, 2026, 18:40 UTC. The class combos near the end are GamingRoute’s picks, built from those published numbers. They are not Blizzard recommendations.
Table of Contents
Quick answer
- Professions per character: 2 primary + all 3 secondary.
- Gathering: Herbalism, Mining, Skinning. Crafting: Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking, Tailoring.
- Ranks: Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert, Artisan. Blizzard’s Legacy milestones top out at 300 skill.
- New profession bonuses: each profession’s Camp Feature gives a campsite buff. Most of these buffs are versions of a class buff and don’t stack with it.
- New passives: the Legacy Professions tree (Working Overtime, Bountiful Harvest, Bartering, Performance, Master Chef, Luremaster, Dedicated Study).
- Legacy points from professions: only crafting professions count. You earn 1 point each at 150, 225 and 300, so two crafting professions can give up to 6 points.
- Our pick in one line: two crafting professions if you want Legacy points, a gatherer plus its crafting partner if you want gold and materials while leveling.
WoW Forever professions list and Camp Features
The New Player’s Starter Guide lists what each profession does. The Camping overview names each one’s first Camp Feature. Here they are side by side.
| Profession | Type | What it does (Blizzard) | First Camp Feature |
|---|---|---|---|
| Herbalism | Primary, gathering | Collects herbs | Incense Candle |
| Mining | Primary, gathering | Gathers ore and stone | None listed in Blizzard’s sample |
| Skinning | Primary, gathering | Collects leather and hides | Camp Chair |
| Alchemy | Primary, crafting | Makes potions | Mana Well |
| Blacksmithing | Primary, crafting | Forges weapons and armor | Sharpening Wheel |
| Enchanting | Primary, crafting | Enhances gear | Enchanted Lute |
| Engineering | Primary, crafting | Builds gadgets | Reagent Bot |
| Leatherworking | Primary, crafting | Crafts leather and mail armor | Camp Tent |
| Tailoring | Primary, crafting | Creates cloth gear and bags | Faction Banner |
| Cooking | Secondary | Prepares food | Basic Campfire (the camp itself) |
| Fishing | Secondary | Catches useful ingredients | Fishing Bowl |
| First Aid | Secondary | Creates survival supplies | First Aid Kit |
Blizzard calls its table “a sample of each profession’s camp features”, and Mining has no entry in it. Blizzard also says Cooks can later learn bigger Campfires that hold five or even 10 objects. Other professions unlock “helpful conveniences such as Alchemy Laboratories and Tanning Racks.”
WoW Forever profession bonuses: every Camp Feature buff
This is the table most people are looking for. Each buff comes from Blizzard’s Camping overview. Where Blizzard gives a range, the number scales with level. The last column shows the class buff it replaces: you get one or the other, not both.
| Camp Feature | Profession (skill) | Buff while sitting nearby | Doesn’t stack with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Campfire | Cooking (1) | Allows cooking and up to 3 more Camp Features | – |
| First Aid Kit | First Aid (20) | +3 to 56 Stamina | Power Word: Fortitude |
| Fishing Bowl | Fishing (20) | +8% stats | Blessing of Kings |
| Mana Well | Alchemy (20) | 10 to 29 Mana every 5 seconds | Blessing of Wisdom |
| Sharpening Wheel | Blacksmithing (20) | +6 to 34 Strength | Strength of Earth Totem |
| Enchanted Lute | Enchanting (20) | +28 to 260 Armor, +0 to 13 all stats, +0 to 22 all resistances | Mark of the Wild |
| Reagent Bot | Engineering (20) | Lets you and nearby players buy reagents | – |
| Incense Candle | Herbalism (20) | +2 to 25 Intellect | Arcane Intellect |
| Camp Tent | Leatherworking (20) | Rested XP raised to 5% of a level (no effect if you already have more) | – |
| Camp Chair | Skinning (20) | +2% critical strike chance with spells and attacks | Moonkin Aura |
| Faction Banner | Tailoring (20) | +14 to 32 Spirit (your faction only) | Divine Spirit |
Two rules matter more than any single number. First, all Camp Features share a 1-hour cooldown. Second, each player can add only one feature to a fire. So you pick one feature per hour, not one per profession. Your first camp items unlock at skill 20, either from starter-zone quests or from a profession trainer. According to Blizzard, items that need skill 140 or higher drop in dungeons and raids.
How the Camping system works

Blizzard’s launch post sums Camping up in one paragraph. Cooking’s Basic Campfire becomes a shared campsite. Nearby players can add up to three profession-crafted Camp Features, one each. If you sit or craft at the campsite for at least 1 minute, you get its buffs. The step-by-step version, from the Camping overview and the beta development notes:
- An early quest introduces the system. After that, any character with Cooking can place a Basic Campfire.
- Up to three other players each add one Camp Feature, from the table above.
- Sit, sleep, lie down, kneel or sit in a chair near the fire. You can still cast, craft and buff each other while you wait (beta notes).
- After 1 minute you become rested and get the buffs. Then you head back out.
Camping doesn’t make you safe. Blizzard warns that danger can still find you at camp, and more so on a PvP ruleset. The beta notes also say campfires no longer damage players below level 5, and deal reduced damage to players under 90% health. If you can’t connect on launch night, check our WoW Forever server status page. For your region’s exact start time, see the WoW Forever release time guide.
Legacy System profession perks (the new passives)

The Legacy Resourcefulness tree: Reagent Economy makes tier 1 camping features free to craft. Image: Blizzard Entertainment
The Legacy System article gives each character up to 16 Legacy Points to spend at launch. Points go into three trees, and one tree is just for professions. A few perks in the other two trees also affect camping.
| Perk | Tree | Effect (Blizzard’s description) |
|---|---|---|
| Working Overtime | Professions | Higher chance to gain a skill point in all tradeskills, including Lockpicking |
| Bountiful Harvest | Professions | Find extra Scarce resources when mining, herbing or skinning |
| Bartering | Professions | Lower gold prices from vendors |
| Performance | Professions | Sometimes more Merchant’s Favor from the Azeroth Commerce Authority or Durotar Supply and Logistics |
| Master Chef | Professions | Chance for cooking recipes to make extra results |
| Luremaster | Professions | Chance to fish up extra fish |
| Dedicated Study | Professions | Daily cooldown that speeds up tradeskills, or gives free Elemental Essences once they’re all at 300 |
| Field Guide | Adventure | Shorter 1-hour cooldown on placing camping features |
| Permanence | Resourcefulness | Party, raid and camping buffs last longer |
| Reagent Economy | Resourcefulness | No purchasable reagents for class abilities; tier 1 camping features cost no materials |
The profession side of Legacy Challenges is worth planning around. Blizzard awards points “for each non-gathering primary profession” at 150, 225 and 300 skill, 18 points in total across all six crafting professions. One character with two crafting professions can therefore earn up to 6 points. A character with one gatherer earns up to 3, and a pure gatherer earns none from professions. That’s up to 6 points toward the 16 a character can spend.
What changed vs original Classic
Blizzard hasn’t published a full list of profession changes. This table covers only what its articles and development notes say is new or different. The list of professions, the two-primary limit and the Apprentice-to-Artisan ranks match the original game.
| Area | In WoW: Forever | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Cooking Fire | Expanded into the Basic Campfire, a shared campsite that holds up to 3 Camp Features (5 or 10 with upgraded fires) | Camping overview |
| Camp Features | New: every profession in Blizzard’s sample has one from skill 20, with campsite buffs that don’t stack with class buffs | Camping overview |
| Profession perks | New Legacy Professions tree plus camping perks in the other trees | Legacy System article |
| Tradeskill factions | Two new factions, the Azeroth Commerce Authority (Alliance) and Durotar Supply and Logistics (Horde), are “a major source of new tradeskill activities” with Merchant’s Favor | Legacy System article |
| Dungeon recipes | A number of Blacksmithing and Leatherworking recipes now come as random dungeon drops | Beta notes, Oct 1 update |
| Draught of Predatory Senses | Now a Potion on the combat potion cooldown, with a shorter duration | Beta notes, Oct 15 update |
| Scrolls | Now trigger the global cooldown | Beta notes, Oct 15 update |
| Vendor prices | Many crafted items sell to vendors for less; crafted common and uncommon wands sell for 1 copper | Beta notes, Oct 1 and Oct 15 updates |
| Tauren Cultivation | Each herb has a player-level requirement (the herb’s required skill divided by 5); cooldown 15 minutes (was 60) | Beta notes, Sep 24 and Oct 15 updates |
| Gamepad | Trainer and unlearn prompts fixed for controller players | Beta notes, Nov 2 update |
The final pre-launch notes (posted November 3 UTC) say Blizzard used “the data and feedback gathered during Beta testing to get everything tuned to a reasonable place.” The beta numbers above could still change after launch.
Best WoW Forever profession combos by class (our picks)
These are GamingRoute’s suggestions, not Blizzard’s, and the live game isn’t out yet. Each pick follows three rules from the official numbers. Crafting professions earn Legacy points and gatherers don’t. A Camp Feature is wasted if your own class already gives the same buff. And a gatherer paired with its crafting partner saves gold while you level.
| Class | Our pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Mining + Blacksmithing | Blacksmithing makes weapons and armor; Sharpening Wheel’s Strength helps every melee group without a shaman |
| Paladin | Mining + Blacksmithing | Same plate and weapon logic. Skip Fishing Bowl and Mana Well for your group, because they overlap your own Kings and Wisdom |
| Rogue | Skinning + Leatherworking | Leather armor; Camp Chair’s 2% crit and Camp Tent’s rested XP both help a leveling rogue |
| Hunter | Skinning + Leatherworking | Leatherworking covers leather and mail; Skinning fits a class that kills beasts all day |
| Shaman | Skinning + Leatherworking | Leather and mail armor; skip Blacksmithing’s Wheel, since your Strength of Earth Totem does the same job |
| Druid | Herbalism + Alchemy | Incense Candle and Mana Well are buffs druids can’t give themselves; Mark of the Wild already covers the Lute |
| Priest | Herbalism + Alchemy | Intellect and mana regen without overlap; Tailoring’s Banner overlaps Divine Spirit and First Aid Kit overlaps Fortitude |
| Mage | Tailoring + Enchanting | Cloth gear and bags, up to 6 Legacy points; skip the Candle, which overlaps your Arcane Intellect |
| Warlock | Tailoring + Enchanting | Cloth gear, bags and enchants, with no class-buff overlap on Banner or Lute |
Some picks don’t depend on class:
- Fastest gold while leveling: two gatherers (Herbalism + Mining or Skinning). You give up Legacy profession points for it.
- Altoholics: Leatherworking’s Camp Tent tops up rested XP. The Legacy Adventure perk Well Rested raises the rested cap.
- Group support: Engineering’s Reagent Bot lets the whole camp buy reagents. Reagent Economy makes tier 1 camp features free to craft.
- Everyone: level all three secondaries to 20. Cooking places the fire, and in our reading First Aid Kit and Fishing Bowl are two of the strongest buffs in the table.

How to learn, level and change professions
- Learn: talk to a profession trainer in a starting area or major city. If you can’t find one, ask a city guard for directions.
- Track: press K to open the Professions tab.
- Rank up: trainers teach higher ranks as your level and skill increase, from Apprentice to Journeyman, Expert and Artisan.
- Unlearn: in the Professions tab, click the “X” next to the profession you want to drop.
- Recipes: camp items at skill 20 come from starter-zone quests or trainers, and those at 140+ drop in dungeons and raids. Our WoW Forever leveling guide lists every dungeon by level range.
FAQ
How many professions can you have in WoW Forever?
Two primary professions plus all three secondary professions (Cooking, Fishing and First Aid), per Blizzard’s Camping overview and Starter Guide.
Do professions give bonuses in WoW Forever?
Yes, through Camp Features and Legacy perks. Each profession’s Camp Feature gives a campsite buff, such as Blacksmithing’s Strength or Skinning’s 2% crit. Legacy perks add passives like Bountiful Harvest and Master Chef. Blizzard hasn’t described any permanent per-profession stat passives beyond these.
What is the max profession skill in WoW Forever?
Blizzard’s Legacy Challenges stop at 300 skill, and Dedicated Study refers to tradeskills “reached 300 skill”. So 300 is the cap Blizzard has published.
Do camp buffs stack with class buffs?
No. Blizzard calls them “mutually exclusive” with the matching class buff. The Fishing Bowl doesn’t stack with Blessing of Kings, and the Incense Candle doesn’t stack with Arcane Intellect.
