WoW Forever isn’t down: it opens Nov 4 at 23:00 UTC (3 p.m. PST). Live status box, launch times by region, queues, known issues and where Blizzard posts.

Status as of 12:40 UTC, Wednesday, November 4, 2026

  • Is WoW Forever down? It isn’t live yet. WoW: Forever opens at 23:00 UTC today (3:00 p.m. PST, 6:00 p.m. EST, 11:00 p.m. GMT).
  • Maintenance before launch: players quote a Battle.net app notice saying the game is unavailable from 10:00 a.m. to about 3:00 p.m. PST (18:00 to 23:00 UTC). We haven’t found that window in a Blizzard post, so treat it as a player report.
  • Blizzard notices: no outage, delay or queue notice on Blizzard’s WoW news page or the US and EU forum blue trackers. The newest Forever post on both is from November 3, 20:00 UTC.
  • Next update: at launch (around 23:00 UTC), then again about two hours later.

WoW: Forever isn’t down. It just hasn’t opened yet. Blizzard’s launch post sets one global start: 3:00 p.m. PST on November 4, which is 23:00 UTC. In Europe and Asia-Pacific that’s already Thursday, November 5. This page tracks WoW Forever server status through launch night, using only what Blizzard posts: its news site, its support accounts on X and blue posts on its forums. Anything players report is labelled as a player report.

The full regional breakdown is in our WoW Forever release time guide. Here’s the short version, plus what to check if you can’t log in.

Quick answer

  • Launch: November 4, 23:00 UTC (3 p.m. PST, 6 p.m. EST). Everyone gets in at the same moment.
  • Right now: pre-launch. A long maintenance is expected to run until launch (player-quoted Battle.net app notice: 18:00 to 23:00 UTC).
  • Where Blizzard posts outages: @BlizzardCS (Americas) and @BlizzardCSEU_EN (Europe) on X, the forum blue tracker, and the WoW news page.
  • Queues: Blizzard hasn’t published expected queue times. It has raised low-level respawn rates for the launch crowd.
  • Faction locks: on PvP rulesets, Blizzard can temporarily limit new characters for one faction to keep the sides balanced. That’s by design, not an outage.

WoW Forever launch time by region

These times are from Blizzard’s “World of Warcraft: Forever Goes Live Globally November 4!” post (November 3) and its Global Release Times map. Rows marked “our conversion” are worked out from 23:00 UTC.

ANZ (Sydney, AEDT) 10:00 a.m. Thu, Nov 5
Auckland (NZDT), our conversion 12:00 p.m. Thu, Nov 5

One wrinkle: when Blizzard’s European support account first announced the date in September, it said “November 4th at 23:59 CET”. The November 3 launch post says 12:00 a.m. CET on November 5. That’s one minute apart, and both are the same global launch. Go by the newer post.

Is WoW Forever down right now?

Until 23:00 UTC, being unable to play is expected. Forever hasn’t launched, and players say the Battle.net app shows a maintenance notice for launch day. A forum thread from October 31 quotes the app: “We will be performing scheduled maintenance beginning on Wednesday, November 4th, 10:00 AM (PST) and we expect the service to be available again at approximately 3:00 PM (PST). During this time the game will be unavailable for play.” We read that quote in a player’s forum post, not in a Blizzard post. So this page lists it as a player report.

After launch, “is it down?” has a different answer, and you should check these in order:

  1. Blizzard CS on X. @BlizzardCS (Blizzard CS – The Americas) and @BlizzardCSEU_EN (Blizzard CS EU) post maintenance starts, extensions and “games are live” notices. They usually tag WoW posts with #Warcraft. There are also Spanish and Portuguese accounts for Latin America.
  2. The forum blue tracker. Every post by Blizzard staff on the forums is collected on the US blue tracker and the EU blue tracker. Known-issue posts and hotfix notes show up there. Community manager Kaivax posted the Forever development notes there, most recently on November 3.
  3. The Battle.net app. Select WoW: Forever under Game Version. That’s where players saw the launch-day maintenance notice quoted above.
  4. The WoW news page. worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com/en-us/news carries the launch posts and hotfix lists.

What about the realm status page? Blizzard’s Realm Status page lists realms by game version. When we checked at 12:31 UTC, its version list covered modern WoW and the Classic versions, with no separate WoW: Forever entry. That fits how Forever works: Blizzard says it starts with “a Ruleset rather than a traditional realm-selection screen”. If Blizzard adds Forever to that page, we’ll note it here.

Third-party outage trackers and Reddit threads can show whether lots of players are having trouble at once. They’re player reports, though, not Blizzard confirmation.

WoW Forever queue times and launch crowding

Blizzard hasn’t published expected queue times or queue limits for launch on its news page, in the November 3 launch post or in the development notes. What it has said about launch-night load:

  • Faster respawns at launch. In the final development notes (posted November 3, 03:20 UTC), Blizzard says it “adjusted respawn rates for many different areas in the world” to “properly support large player volumes at launch”. Starting zones are the fastest, and rates slow as you level. Blizzard says it will lower them again “once the initial launch surge of low-level characters has settled down”, and that “some contention for spawns is expected”.
  • Rulesets, not realms. Each ruleset (Normal, PvP, Roleplay, Roleplay PvP) “functions as a broad player ecosystem rather than a single traditional realm”, according to the launch post. You can’t pick a quieter realm the old way. Your ruleset choice is the only server choice.
  • More players in launch week. Per @BlizzardCS on November 2, buyers of Forever upgrade products get codes to invite up to 3 friends to play free from November 4 through November 11, 2026.

Blizzard already ran an open server test in October (see our WoW Forever stress test guide). Players in Blizzard’s forums expect queues on launch night. How long they are will only be clear after 23:00 UTC, and we’ll add what Blizzard says then.

Known issues: what Blizzard has confirmed

  • Faction limits on PvP rulesets (by design). Blizzard’s ruleset article says Forever has systems to keep Horde and Alliance numbers closer on PvP rulesets, similar to Season of Discovery, “where new character creation could be temporarily limited for a faction when additional balance support was needed.” On the PvP ruleset you can also only create characters for one faction. Normal, Roleplay and Hardcore allow both.
  • Oceanic ruleset bug (name reservation). On October 27, Blizzard’s Kaivax warned that Oceanic players on Australian servers had to create Roleplay or Roleplay-PvP characters before Normal or PvP ones, or those rulesets would disappear for them. Blizzard said it was working on an urgent fix. We haven’t found a blue post confirming the fix. A player wrote on November 2 that it had been addressed.
  • Hardcore isn’t at launch. The launch post says the Hardcore ruleset “will become available sometime after launch.”

Player reports (not confirmed by Blizzard)

These come from threads on Blizzard’s own forums. We didn’t see a Blizzard staff reply in them.

Report Where / when What players say
Faction locked on character creation US forums, Nov 4 Players can’t make a character of one faction (an Undead in the opening post). Other players point to the faction balance limit.
WOW51900309 “No realms are currently available” US forums, Nov 3 The NA Normal ruleset couldn’t be selected during name reservation. The original poster said that day’s maintenance fixed it.
WOW51900337 “Valid Access License” error US forums, from Oct 27 Some upgrade buyers reported being blocked from early name reservation. Early reservation ran through November 3 (see our name reservation explainer below), so this matters less now that launch is here.
Characters missing from the PvP ruleset US forums, Nov 2 Reserved characters not showing on character select. Other players linked it to known name-reservation problems.

Can’t log in? Blizzard’s own checklist

Blizzard’s “Return to Azeroth” post covers the problems that aren’t server outages:

  1. Pick the right version and account. In the Battle.net app, choose WoW: Forever under the Game Version menu. If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, a second dropdown appears. Select the account with your active subscription.
  2. Check your subscription. Access needs an active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time. The Skyborne race and Zephras Isle need the Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher. Our races and classes guide lists which combos that unlocks.
  3. Update first. Blizzard says to update your operating system and graphics drivers before you install, and to check the official system requirements.
  4. Account problems. If you can’t sign in at all, Blizzard Support’s account recovery covers lost accounts, password resets, locked accounts and authenticator issues. If those don’t fix it, you can contact a Game Master through the Support portal.

Once you’re in, the first screens ask for an Experience Preset (Classic or Enhanced) and then a Ruleset. Blizzard recommends Enhanced if you’re unsure, and you can change it later. For your first evening, our WoW Forever leveling guide covers the zones by level. If you reserved names before launch, our name reservation explainer covers the two-name rules.

Update log

  • Nov 4, 12:40 UTC: Page created. Forever not live yet. Launch at 23:00 UTC. Pre-launch maintenance 18:00 to 23:00 UTC per a player-quoted Battle.net app notice. No Blizzard outage or delay notice.

FAQ

Is WoW Forever down today?

Before 23:00 UTC on November 4, Forever isn’t live, and a pre-launch maintenance is expected from 18:00 UTC. After launch, check @BlizzardCS or @BlizzardCSEU_EN and the forum blue tracker for official notices. The status box at the top of this page has our latest check.

What time does WoW Forever go live?

3:00 p.m. PST on November 4 (23:00 UTC). That’s 6 p.m. EST, 11 p.m. GMT, midnight CET and 10 a.m. AEDT on November 5.

Is there a WoW Forever server status page?

Blizzard’s Realm Status page had no separate WoW: Forever entry when we checked on November 4, because Forever uses rulesets instead of realms. For live status, Blizzard’s support accounts on X and the forum blue trackers are the official sources.

Why can’t I make a Horde (or Alliance) character on PvP?

Blizzard says PvP rulesets can temporarily limit new characters for one faction to keep the populations balanced, as in Season of Discovery. Each account can also only have one faction on the PvP ruleset. Normal, Roleplay and Hardcore allow both factions.
