Decor adds +3 Buzz a level, Safe expeditions add +5% survey and Detailed +15%, plus the free cargo items, first staff skills and helipad costs by Museum Level.

The best Two Point Museum tips and tricks come down to four habits. Stack Buzz on every exhibit. Keep at least one expedition in the air. Train staff in the one skill their job needs first. Grow your Museum Level, because it unlocks extra helipads and Analysis Rooms. This guide covers expeditions, Buzz, Knowledge, staff and security. For money and room layouts, see our separate Two Point Museum money guide and layout guide for every museum. The values below come from the Two Point Museum Wiki (Fandom), Two Point Studios’ patch notes on Steam (up to Update 12.1.246284, October 29, 2026) and three dated player guides. We checked them on November 1, 2026.

Two Point Museum tips and tricks: quick answer

  • Buzz: each decoration level around an exhibit adds +3 Buzz, up to five levels. A Great exhibit adds +5 and an Epic one +10, according to the wiki.
  • Expeditions: use Safe for most trips (+5% survey). Use Detailed (+15% survey, +1 exhibit quality, double the time) when quality matters. Save Speedy for emergencies, because it can damage the helicopter.
  • Free cargo: the XP-dition Journal (+25% XP), First Aid Kit (blocks one injury event) and Haggling Handbook (-20% cost) never run out. Always take one.
  • Choose an Exhibit: since Update 10.0, a point of interest at max survey level lets you pick the exhibit you get. It costs more and takes longer, and quality still isn’t guaranteed.
  • Knowledge: guests only learn at Info Stands, and children only at Interactive Displays. Analysing a duplicate raises Knowledge on every copy of that exhibit.
  • Staff: a new qualification slot opens at levels 5, 10, 15 and 20. Hire two Experts per theme so one is always free for expeditions.
  • Security: a higher rating draws more thieves. Cameras only work with a staffed Camera Room nearby.

What to do first in a new museum

  1. Send your first expedition straight away, with a free cargo item. The helipad does nothing on the ground.
  2. Place an Info Stand next to every exhibit group, and decorate around your best exhibits before you buy new ones.
  3. Hire only the staff you need. Gaming.net’s beginner tips (March 2025) warn that hiring too many staff early can leave you short of cash.
  4. Build a Staff Room and a Training Room early. Training raises staff happiness as well as skill.
  5. Watch the Museum Rating screen. Update 12.0.244617 (October 8, 2026) redesigned it to show guest thoughts more clearly, so check it before you change prices or layouts.
  6. Click a guest to see what they want. Since Update 12.0 (October 1, 2026), the Guest Inspector lists each guest’s exhibit and Gift Shop preferences. You no longer need to open the sticker book.

Two Point Museum expedition tips

Expeditions are your main way to get exhibits. Before you can launch one, four things must be in place, according to the wiki. The helicopter must be undamaged. You need enough money. You need the right staff types at the required level and with the required qualifications. Some points of interest (POIs) also need a specific cargo item. When the team gets back, open the crate on the helipad. That helipad then waits a few in-game days before it can launch again.

Speedy, Safe or Detailed: which expedition approach is best?

Approach Time Survey level Events Best for
Speedy Half the normal time +0% 1 random event; Chopper Damage is added to the pool Getting the helipad back fast for an urgent objective
Safe Normal +5% 1 random event Most trips (Siliconera’s recommendation)
Detailed Double +15% 2 random events Higher quality (+1 exhibit quality) and fast survey progress

Before launch, click each possible event on the setup screen. Siliconera’s expedition guide (February 2025) explains that this shows which skill or cargo item blocks a bad event. Every event you block leaves fewer bad events in the pool.

Cargo items worth taking

Cargo item Effect How you get it
XP-dition Journal +25% XP for the whole team Infinite supply
First Aid Kit Removes one Injury event Infinite supply
Haggling Handbook -20% expedition cost Infinite supply
Survey Scanner +50% to the location’s survey level Workshop (Janitor), $2,500 and 25 days, after a VIP visit unlocks it
Survival Scroll Removes one MIA event “Money or Your Life” dilemma reward

More expedition tips

  • MIA is permanent. An MIA event loses a team member for good, and you get a memorial exhibit instead. Block MIA events on risky POIs with a Survival Scroll or the skill the event lists.
  • Know the cures. According to the wiki, injuries are cured at Remedial Springs in the Bone Belt or with a Douse ‘n Dose. Illnesses are cured at the Bandage Box in the Staff Room. Curses need a trip to “Curses, Curses, Curses” in the Netherworld.
  • Grind survey levels on POIs you’ll revisit. At max survey level, Update 10.0 (June 18, 2026) lets you choose the exhibit. That’s the reliable way to finish a set or chase a Pristine copy.
  • Two Experts per theme. Siliconera suggests this so the museum never loses its only restorer to a long trip.
  • Pilot Wings is worth training. The skill cuts 1-3 days off each trip, adds up to +25% expedition speed and counters Speedy’s Chopper Damage event (wiki).

How to get more Buzz in Two Point Museum

Buzz measures how impressive an exhibit is. It drives guest interest, donations and reviews. Here’s how it stacks, according to the wiki:

Buzz source Effect
Decoration level (up to 5 levels) +3 Buzz per level. Matching-theme decor counts the most
Great quality +5 Buzz, 1 perk slot
Epic quality +10 Buzz, 2 perk slots
Pristine quality Highest bonus (the wiki doesn’t list the number yet), 3 perk slots
Multi-part exhibits Each added part raises Buzz. A complete set turns Pristine automatically
Grubbiness Lowers Buzz over time. Experts restore it, but some exhibits (melted Frozen Finds) can’t be saved
  • Tick every requirement. Dexerto’s Buzz guide (March 2025) points out that exhibits have conditions, such as a fossil next to another fossil, a haunted doll near a candle, or the right temperature. Each condition met adds Buzz. The exhibit’s info panel shows which ones are missing.
  • Use perks. Analysing exhibits gives random perks. Dexerto calls the Buzz Boost perk a must-have, and Epic and Pristine exhibits have the most slots for perks.
  • Don’t mix incompatible exhibits. Dexerto notes that some spirits refuse to share a Poltergeist room, and that flora and frozen exhibits are best kept in separate rooms or spaced well apart.
  • Market your best exhibit. The wiki’s marketing page (still marked work in progress) lists campaigns at $5,000, $7,500 and $10,000 for 90 days. An Exhibit campaign adds +20% Buzz to every copy of that exhibit. A Museum campaign adds +10-30% guest arrivals. Running a campaign needs a Marketing Office and an Assistant with the Marketing qualification.

Knowledge and Analysis tips

Knowledge is the other half of an exhibit’s value. Guests don’t learn anything just by looking. An Info Stand adds up the Knowledge of every exhibit in its range, and guests gain that total each time they visit it. Children can’t use Info Stands at all. They learn only from Interactive Displays, which you build in the Workshop.

The Analysis Room lets an Expert of the same theme take an exhibit apart. You lose the exhibit, but you gain a small cash payout, a random perk and +1 Knowledge Level on every copy of that exhibit, in every museum. You also gain a level of Enlightenment in that theme, which unlocks new decorations, food and textures. So feed the room duplicates, not your only copy. Once an exhibit reaches its maximum Knowledge Level, analysing it still pays money and a perk, and it’s still good XP for the Expert (wiki).

Two Point Museum staff tips

Staff gain XP while they work and on expeditions. Level 2 takes 100 XP, and each level after that needs 50 more than the last. Promotions at levels 5, 10, 15 and 20 each open a new qualification slot, up to five in total (wiki). A new applicant appears every 8 days, and other museums compete for them, so hire good ones quickly. To find an Expert outside your museum’s theme, use Advertise New Job. It costs $2,500, the applicant arrives in 8 days and stays until you dismiss them, and you can have up to three adverts at once.

The table shows the first skill worth training for each staff type. Costs and effects are the wiki’s Bronze level.

Staff Main jobs Train first Bronze effect Cost
Expert Expeditions, restoration, tours, analysis Rapid Restoration +100% restoration speed $500
Expert (tour guide) Tour Stand routes Tour Guidelines +10% tour donations, +15% tour Buzz, +1 Knowledge per tour $500
Assistant Ticket Booth, kiosks, Gift Shop, Cafeteria, mascots Customer Service +10% guest happiness $250
Assistant (front desk) Ticket Booth Accomplished Admission +20% ticket selling speed $500
Janitor Cleaning, maintenance, upgrades, installing perks Mechanics +30% maintenance and upgrade speed $1,000
Janitor (haunted museums) Ghost capture Ghost Capture Required to catch ghosts $275
Security Guard Donation collection, chasing criminals Strolling Surveillance +300% thief detection on foot $750
Security Guard (cameras) Camera Room Camera Room Required to staff the room $1,000

Every qualification also raises the wage a staff member expects. The wiki lists +$540 a level for Assistant skills and +$1,296 for Expert skills. Train with a purpose rather than filling every slot. According to the wiki, Museum Level depends on staff skills and ranks as well as the number and Buzz of your exhibits, so well-trained staff help you level up. For how training works in the earlier games, see our Two Point Hospital tips.

Security tips: how to stop thieves

As your Museum Level and rating rise, your museum attracts more crime (wiki). Thieves come disguised as guests. Later, crime guilds arrive with their own tricks. The Golden Molers dig in through holes in the ground. Jumbo Marketing vandalise exhibits rather than steal them. The Bad Piggies go only for donation stands. Security Cameras ($2,500 each) only work with a staffed Camera Room nearby. That room needs a guard with the Camera Room qualification, and other guards then catch the thief once they’re alerted. Guards also collect donations, so a guard with Strolling Surveillance covers two jobs on the busiest routes. For where to place the Camera Room in each museum, see the layout guide.

What Museum Level unlocks

Your highest Museum Level so far sets how many helipads and Analysis Rooms you can build. Once a level is reached, the slot stays unlocked even if the level drops again (wiki).

Museum Level Helipads Next helipad cost Analysis Rooms
1 1 Free 1
12 2 $100,000 2
25 3 $300,000 3
50 4 $500,000 4
75 5 $700,000 5

Bungle Wasteland and Pointy Mountains each start with a bonus helipad that sits outside this count. A second helipad lets two expeditions run at once, as long as they go to different POIs. Make it your first big purchase after Level 12. If cash is tight, our money guide covers ticket prices, donations and the Rides & Relics funfair. FAQ

What should I do first in Two Point Museum?

Launch an expedition with a free cargo item. Put Info Stands next to your starting exhibits. Decorate around the best ones, and hire only the staff you need. Build a Staff Room and a Training Room soon after.

Is Speedy, Safe or Detailed better for expeditions?

Safe for most trips. Detailed when you want better quality or faster survey progress, since it adds +1 exhibit quality and +15% survey but takes twice as long and rolls two events. Speedy gives no survey progress and can damage the helicopter.

Can you choose which exhibit you get from an expedition?

Yes, since Update 10.0 (June 2026). Once a POI reaches max survey level, the setup screen lets you pick the exhibit. The trip costs more and takes longer, and the quality is still random.

How do you increase Museum Level in Two Point Museum?

Add more exhibits, raise their Buzz, and train and promote your staff. Museum Level counts all three. Each level milestone (12, 25, 50 and 75) unlocks another helipad and another Analysis Room.
